    Very interesting. I had a vibration on my 70 El Camino from about 65-75 mph. Turned out to be a bent and out of balance rim. I figured it out by accident when I swapped my tall tires (which were on different rims) for highway gearing and noticed the vibration went away when the bent rim was off the car. Then I confirmed the bent rim was out of balance after the fact (and also noticed deformed lip on inside of wheel). I'd like to install a narrowed rear end at some point but your experience with Moser concerns me a little. Good video!

      There really is a lot of things that can cause a vibration. Good job on figuring out it was the rim. So far I can't say I've been very satisfied with Moser.

    Well done. My runout looks like poop so time to get on the interwebs and do some ordering.

    Good video on measuring run out on the axles, im having a similar issue, my vibration comes on around 55-60 mph goes away between 65-85 then gets real bad at 90+, im thinking i have the same issue, bent axles, will be measuring runout this weekend, been through nearly the whole driveline, refreshing a 93 mustang, lots of work lol.

    Did you check both axles? Both sides

      Yes, you can see in part one I checked the passenger side as well.

    Wait, am I seeing that you have drum and disc brakes on the rear? I've never seen something like that before. Please do explain.

      the drum is the parking brake.

    congrats on the fix. How did you make out with the howling noice and gears?

    • @SS454LS6
      @SS454LS6  Před 3 lety +2

      I had to wait to change the axle, now I can change the gears and hopefully that fixes the howling.

    Weird that replacement axle had no access hole - did they correct it, or the local boys?

      @SS454LS6  Před 2 lety +1

      I ended up paying to get the access hole done locally. Wasn't terribly happy about that.

      @@SS454LS6 you still have that noise at highway speeds. I have a noise on my 66 mustang, and also have the eaton trutrack rear end. Also have that gear play you showed a few videos ago from this one. Just curious if you think this noise I have is from eaton true track. I go over 50 mph and higher noise comes on, and mostly gets worst at higher speeds and also in coast or neutral. Complete goes away at 50 mph or less, like a switch. I am in thg process of having drive shaft re balanced, and check driveline angles. Had my third member checked out, with nothing found. I had one axle changed, with no change in noise. Checked all tires and wheels, and had them balanced again. Nothing. My driveline angles look like they are out, I will have to raise my pinion up.

      @@johnguildy Sounds like we have the same issues. I wonder if our noises are coming from the True Track. Chances are it is the ring and pinion though.
