Pattern interruption is what finally did it for me. After several years..chronic pain…symptoms moving. It’s what finally reset my brain and stopped my symptoms . In all transparency I tried to be indifferent..ignore…calm…but the “ technique” of pattern interruption was what worked for me. I did not try to stop the symptoms in my body. I just interrupted the pattern in my brain while I was experiencing anything physical that I was experiencing in my body. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
    God is good.

I have something i recently started doing, I put my hand on my heart and imagine running to God, jumping in His arms! I’m a little girl in my imagination. He swings me around!! It’s the most loving/safe feeling! I just stop what I’m doing and keep going to this when I feel scared or sad. So basically I’m doing it all the time. But it feels like this huge sigh of relief, and it feels like I’m doing what you’re speaking of here.

I think this is one of the most valuable tools to put in our kit. Changing the pattern means we’re not constantly adding to the pain/symptom circuits, we’re making new Wizard of Oz silly circuits 😂

When I tell you I needed this please believe me! After a week or two “off from symptoms” as I like to say, they started creeping back yesterday. I started anticipating and dreading what i would feel like getting out of bed this morning (they tend to be worse after long periods of inactivity). And sure enough I felt them as soon as I sat up, but dissipated after a few minutes. I felt the fear trying to tear its ugly head and what pops up on CZcams? Your video about having a great day regardless of symptoms! Then you mention pattern interruption! Exactly what I need. Thank you so much Dan!

Love it Dan! Pattern interrupt is a great technique that I forget about. Thanks for the reminder. The Wizard of Oz is one of my most favorite movies, and I know all the lines. Remember that Glinda, the good witch said to Dorothy “you always have the power! You just didn’t know it.”I think we all have the power and we’re finding our way to it
Rough night, my symptoms often Spike to a 10 and wake me up during the night. I actually stay calm and do deep breathing, and I can eventually fall back to sleep but I would love for that to end. I know it’s predictive coding just haven’t found a way to interrupt that pattern. Wishing everyone a sweet day. ❤

It means that the brain is still perceiving some danger either consciously or subconsciously. Are the things you are thinking, feeling and doing conveying safety or confirming danger?

What have you found to work for you?

I heard once a guy made up a word. He said “iscaditty” whenever he had an intrusive thought/fear.
    His obsessions went away!!

I get so scared that i will make my body sick being in the stress response all day. Dsitraction doesnt help as still stuck in fearful negstive scarey thoughts. Exhausted trying out all sorts of tools and still remain in heightned stress response aka fight/flight so added fear of damage to health. Can bresk out the odd hour but it always fires up with adrenaline and cortisol again. Urgency to get better through fear just brings more fear. Nervous system is hyperstimulated all day. Not enough company or things to engage in at home so mind is racing with fear thoughts, so hard to bust out of this negative ingrained thought process.

What you just described is exactly the mental and emotional state that you can use this pattern interrupt to break. Instead of feeling that you cannot change things, ask yourself "how can I?"

@@PainFreeYou Thanks Dan but when I feel so trashed with exhaustion and symptoms and a feeling of not feeling well, fatigue aches tension etc it's hard to get up and go when feeling weak and half dead with exhaustion, body feels so tired and worn out with it all.

@@Julie-iw3mh I understand how hard it is now. But if you keep telling yourself how hard it is, you are less likely to make the mindset shifts necessary to get well.
The Mindset NEEDS to shift first. Even if your symptoms prevent you from getting up and going, you CAN shift your mindset - even at home. Begin there.

@@andybreedlove Hi Andy just saw your message. I'm not really any better, I make sure I cook a meal for myself and have to drag myself to the shop to buy ingredients. I do a bit of yoga too, was very fit before this 5 years ago. I find therapy and past journaling way too much so don't do that. I do write about my current day, what I've done or achieved, no negative things, have plenty of negative thoughts already. I listen ACIM aka A course in miracles on podcasts as it is about forgiveness and I have plenty of that to do, to myself and others, it's suggested to forgive yourself first and then easier to forgive others. It's done by prayer rather than journaling. I pick a certain few words and when negative thoughts and feelings arise I turn to the powers and ask them to take this thought away from me so that I never think it again, sometimes a hundred times a day. It's hard work but been so so angry and negative and depressed for so long. It helps a bit. Also meditation is good, very tough to start but stick with it and ask for love and kindness for yourself. Sorry about the essay. Wishing you the very best.

I think this will be a good stepping stone for me to get to indifference, along with the helpful realisation that there's nothing to actually think about/work out when a symptom arises. 💃👏I notice you mentioned about it being effective in Sales too. Super keen to learn that stuff, going to google it! Tried the pattern interrupt earlier on some other overthinking. Was fun. I found it simple and effective🙏 I stuck with using a fun sound, as figured I couldn't pull off singing the wonderful wizard of oz☺ This works x
