Best Fillet Knives and link to carbide sharpener

Captain Cody shows the easiest way to sharpen a fishing fillet knife. This is done with the AccuSharp carbide knife sharpener.
There is little skill needed as all you need to do pass the blade through the sharpener. This is a low-cost way to keep you knives shark for cleaning and filleting fish.
When first using this sharpener is does seem a bit strange that you are running the knife over your fingers. You do have to be careful but the plastic guard does provide adequate protection when used properly and carefully.
Personally, I try and sharpen my knife every time before filleting fish. This makes a huge difference and makes the task much easier.
I hope this helps keep your knives super sharp.
    Thanks for watching,
    Captain Cody

I cannot and WILL not use a sharpener that directs the knife blade toward my fingers; just me I guess!

Yeah, I thought that the first time I saw someone use one. That is definitely a good practice when filleting fish or cutting anything. One slip of the knife and you cur yourself. I have not heard of anyone cutting themselves when using this sharpener, although I am sure it has happened! Some people mount a carbide sharpener to their fillet table. That is another good option.

Cody, you are doing this upside down. Lay the knife on a table and pull the sharpener over the blade.

Don, Interesting. I guess that would be another way to do it. This is how I see other people using them. I do see your way shown in demo pictures. I guess both would work! The way that is least likely to cut you is by mounting the carbide sharpener on a table or filet table.

EXACTLY DON!!! I've been using these type sharpeners over 30 years, the way you describe. This video literally mad me cringe. I was waiting to see fingers drop.
