In this video captain Cody shows how to tie a haywire twist to make shark rigs. This is done using AFW single strand wire, swivel, and 9/0 VMC circle hook. It is also demonstrated how to make a haywire twist with the AFW tool.
After making a shark rig, reef fishing rigs are made with 38 pound wire which as AFW number 4 size. It is good to use wire when fishing on the reef as sharks, barracuda, king mackerel, cero mackerel, and wahoo all have teeth. The thin wire makes it so that you can still catch jacks and sometimes snapper as well. However in general it is better to use a thin fluorocarbon leader when fishing for snapper.
In this video Captain Cody talks about how to safely release sharks, which is very import to know when you fishing in areas where you might catch a shark.

Hi, great informative vid. We use the Mustad 39948 inline circle hooks 12/0 and 10/0 here in the uk 🇬🇧

Cool, not sure what size sharks you are targeting but you might be able to get away with the 9/0 thin wire hooks I was suggesting. They do not make hooks the way I think they should be made. Without an anti-rust coating and without a barb. That is why we modify them. Removing the hook from the shark is always the hardest part in my opinion. That is why I made a video on how to safely release sharks as well. Thanks for watching!
