Before ultrasonic was widely available people used to dunk them in boiling water for 5 minutes at a time. If it didn't come out clean you let it cool off and did it again and again.

The important thing is to dry them properly before power is reapplied. If the ultrasonic bath is 100% alcohol..... Then it will attach to any moisture and evaporate even from the deepest darkest crevices. If something else is used then a low temperature baking and/or second bath in ultrasonic / vacuum chamber with 100% alcohol. That will bond to any remaining moisture and remove it.

If this was 5 min, how did the injectors turn themselves 180* and all face the same way, the discoloration of the fluid that would occur as a result of the carbon being removed is less than I would expect.

so shops that actually rebuild injectors pull the conical screens at the top of the injector and install new ones. they run the injectors on a flow bench with special cleaners. Ultrasonic cleaning the outside the injectors are nice but by no means fixes the clogs inside.
It doesn't only clean the outside tho.. The way ultrasonics work will cause implosions in the liquid wherever the liquid touches. If the liquid can touch the inside of the injectors without actuating them, which it can, then it will clean at least some of the internals as well. By no means is it as good as doing it the proper way. But saying ultrasonics only clean only the outside is pure misinformation. If this was the case they wouldn't be used to clean complex parts.
Injector cleaning machines are a combination of an ultrasonic bath and a rail that you hook up each injector and runs cleaner through firing each injector so that is the best way to clean them then into the bath Alternatively just buy new ones 😮
Making a real injector cleaner isn't that hard. Just bench replicate a basic fuel system. Pump, short line, a fuel rail and some plastic, vertical containers that can hold gas. The injectors can be controlled by a simply controller made with an Arduino. There are projects like this on the internet. Run the pump laying in a tub of cleaner. Watch the injectors spray into the containers. You will clearly see injectors that are dirty by the uneven spray pattern. When the injectors are clean you will see a nice even pattern on all of them and all of the tubes the injectors are spraying into should have have he same amount of cleaner in them, indicating all of the injectors are flowing evenly. Don't put a constant 12 volts into the injector. You do risk damaging it. Injectors are also sealed. There shouldn't be an issue cleaning them like this. If you have one go bad during cleaning it was probably going to fail soon anyway.

That's exactly an approach that was used for all 6 injectors for my Subaru, and after that, they started leaking slowling. Do not do that like in a video! Not all ijectors will survive.
My grandfather has an ultrasonic bath. He put a small electric motor in his and it cleaned all the grease and debris out of it. After that it was as good as new. I don’t think the bath will necessarily hurt the coils, but since an injector has to be sealed, that is a genuine concern.

I've always used Techtron fuel injector cleaner over the years as a regular maintenance item. I still have my original 03 fuel injectors on my Chevy truck. No ultrasonic cleaning at all. People tend to think, they have fuel injectors issues. So they buy a new set and still the same issues. About 8 weeks ago. I was asked about a van having misfire issues and down on hp. I asked the Lady. But 5 Techtron. Add to the gas tank for every fill up. She called my about a month later and said, no more misfire issues, power restored and idles wonderful.

@@tomsurrey2252 injectors fail in two ways either jamming up or burning the coil inside. Mine was jammed because when the cleaning happens it can move large amount of dirt to the opening whole which can cause the solenoid to be stuck open/close
Golly those are going to flow fuel so much better with a clean outer shell,it will just atomize the fuel perfectly now having not been cleaned out on the inside with pressurized cleaner. I think when my air filter is clogged i will armor all my engine bay insted of changing it. Lmao 🤣

I've read that if the tank is metal then place something like plastic, between the injector and metal bottom or, if it's a plastic tank then it should be ok!
When the video switches screens like that, it's very easy for someone to say it was however many minutes or hrs or days that they wanted to say...lol. Also it's a possibility that the injectors were swapped out for new 1's...😂
Just replace them they are not that expensive and most cars replacing injectors is easy job, just like most things they have a lifespan point where they have to be replaced so don't be a bad owner and replace.
So I got a fuel injector cleaning test kit and some new filters cause I already dropped money on the tools, fuel filter, spark plugs, and two upstream o2 sensors so definitely going to clean them instead of dropping another $400+

Just did it with 15 year dormant injectors. It works.They were clogged solid. Simple Green, one hour.
