The animation for Kaido's face is so amazing. Not only the disappointment after the strike, but also the absolute joy at the start of the video. You can tell he is really enjoying this fight
I love that if you look just a touch deeper, its clear that Kaido is violently depressed. Hes not happy as a warmonger, but its all he knows. Being defeated in combat would prove that his worldview was wrong. But it never happens. He sees the world for the unjust, cruel thing it is and is horribly unhappy because of it. He almost seems to root for liffy to beat him and goads him to get angry as possible when fighting him.
Being defeated would prove Kaidos worldview as Right. Strength is what determines Good and Evil. The Strongest Decides. If Luffy is stronger than its his right to do whatever he wants, including undo all the bad Kaido did, Luffys values wouldnt matter if he wasnt also Stronger than Kaido

Kaido is incredibly well-writen. He wishes for a true challenge, but won't just make his plans fail for the sake of having that challenge, which makes his despair all the worse because he knows for a fact he can't just let Luffy get this close to defeating him again, he must continue with his plan.

Agree, everything was being so epic, so I was like NO, NO, NO, THIS CANT BE HAPPENING, THIS IS SO WRONG, also Kaidos face saying THE EXACT SAME THING, and even the CP0 saying I know, Im so sorry.... very well treated by the anime indeed. It was one of the most emotional scenes of the manga to me.
it's a simple as he's a warrior, and no fighter wants to win unfairly, fighting for a true warrior isn't about losing or winning it's about the thrill of the fight, that's what Luffy and Kaido have been doing

Also at 0:22 you could see all the gears but after gear 4 there was something that looked like hybrid Kaido with White/gear 5 aura so that was gear 5. Also it looked like Kaido becuase he knew of the legend Joy Boy and he thought that he WAS Joy Boy. So this episode has amazing details and the render frames are just…magnificent

I wonder if Kaido has noticed how since he started trying to become the thing to awaken Joyboy he's become a genuine storybook villain, all the tropes have shown up in his life. From the rebelliously mutinous child to the way he's run into a situation like this with his 'allies' pulling cheap-shots at the height of his two favourite fights in the last two decades. The antagonist plot armour feels almost like a tangible force Kaido is regretting trying to embody and it vibes.
Zunesha even makes a trip to Wano to herald the return of the 'Drums of Liberation' or - the physical restarting of Luffy's heart is what heralds Joy Boy's return. So Luffy literally died, then his heart was restarted by Gear 5 or his Awakening… whatever you want to call it
This is the reason why I still have Kaido as my Top 1 antagonist. Dude will insult his enemies, and is a heinous individual. But he respects those who can challenge him. This scene shows how devastated he was over an unfair victory. He would rather lose in a fair match up, such as when he attempted to tank Bajrang Gun, than to win unfairly, and I love that. Katakuri is also a great example of this

Imagine giving a fight your all just to have your victory snatched away not once but TWICE because a third party wants to fight dirty, Kaido might not have been the a good guy but he was just a warrior looking for an equal. His face at that final blow paints a beautiful picture of just how desperate he is to find an honorable death.
Best way to hype up for gear 5 is that at 0:21 when luffy's arm locks in you can see quick frames of all his previous forms including a smiling gear 5.

Am I the only one that thinks this is animated in more "goofy" way than before? Especially Kaidos face shots (mostly eyes) and how his face/head moves. Looks like foreshadowing of how it will look like on THAT episode.
It's why I stick with that theory that Higarashi wasn't a Kurozumi but actually a Cipher Pol agent from the world government, that would be excellent foreshadowing there, that would explain her time with the Rocks Pirates it was her next mission after her failure to take over Wano for the world government via the framing of Orochi's grandfather.
Brudda, Kaido's face just says it all. He had that ptsd kick in during that flashback and that look of utter despair when he saw cp0 stop luffy during their final clash. In total honesty, I feel for Kaido. My dude just wants to go out with a bang, and throughout his life every challenger he could think of was taken away from him or refused to fight him... that sucks so damn hard that him destroying cp0 without a hint of mercy is 100% deserved.

This is the reason why I still have Kaido as my Top 1 antagonist. Dude will insult his enemies, and is a heinous individual. But he respects those who can challenge him. This scene shows how devastated he was over an unfair victory. He would rather lose in a fair match up, such as when he attempted to tank Bajrang Gun, than to win unfairly, and I love that.
Katakuri is also a great example of this

Imagine giving a fight your all just to have your victory snatched away not once but TWICE because a third party wants to fight dirty, Kaido might not have been the a good guy but he was just a warrior looking for an equal. His face at that final blow paints a beautiful picture of just how desperate he is to find an honorable death.

That’s why they were the best and a little bit of Lucci. They respected and acknowledged his strength and Character and unlike most of the scum Luffy had fought Katakuri and Kaido were a great change of pace.

I was watching this high and the sadness of this moment really got to me.
Am I the only one that thinks this is animated in more "goofy" way than before? Especially Kaidos face shots (mostly eyes) and how his face/head moves. Looks like foreshadowing of how it will look like on THAT episode.

It's why I stick with that theory that Higarashi wasn't a Kurozumi but actually a Cipher Pol agent from the world government, that would be excellent foreshadowing there, that would explain her time with the Rocks Pirates it was her next mission after her failure to take over Wano for the world government via the framing of Orochi's grandfather.

Brudda, Kaido's face just says it all. He had that ptsd kick in during that flashback and that look of utter despair when he saw cp0 stop luffy during their final clash.
In total honesty, I feel for Kaido. My dude just wants to go out with a bang, and throughout his life every challenger he could think of was taken away from him or refused to fight him... that sucks so damn hard that him destroying cp0 without a hint of mercy is 100% deserved.
