As a category of ST, I am now preparing for the JEE through the help of government, there are also students of general category preparing with me, but they always says that you will get the seat easily..than us that's literally hurts.. It feels like the relationship between category is going in a different direction... It seems like they are starting to hate us for that ...

I belong to SC caste from Maharashtra. my grandfather was very poor and could not even afford to provide normal food and clothes to my father. we had no land or asset as such. Because of poor living standards and zero financial support my father could not pursue higher education and thus failed 12th std. he started doing labor work on daily wages for around 30rs daily. as my grandfather was ill and retired all the responsibilities had to be fulfilled by my father. with just 30rs of daily wage he somehow managed himself to get married and as well as marry off his 3 sisters. when he used to get done from work while coming back his financially stable lower middle caste and few upper caste friends use to spend money on alcohol and dance bar. but he saved every penny he could and later on became a civil contractor. since then he started earning well and started investing in lands and real estate. now he owns 3 lands and one flat all on his own. he put me and my 2 brothers into good schools and did not use the benefit of reservation as we were financially good. he always said we are not taking reservation just so the one who really needs it can take the benefit of it. Also, i forgot to mention during his childhood he had to beg to get food for his family and faced a lot of discrimination from upper caste people.

Dr. Ambedkar really did a great job here uplifting the lower caste people. Coz of this system many SC,ST, OBCs are getting good jobs otherwise they would only get a jobs like sweeper, chaprasi, security guards etc not more than that

Dhruv talks about average ratio, but its a big margin if you are the victim. I am also not rich nor extraordinary in study but when i see someone rich and who is also not as good as me in study get education with less fees and more job opportunities with less marks it hurts.

@@sumittayade9390 that doesn't work bro... Caste system is here for 2000 yrs. Caste certificates were first issued roughly 70 yrs ago. It's issued for a purpose and that's reservation. If you remove that you are removing the equality of opportunity for millions of underprivileged and lower caste Indians. This prevents them from social and financial mobility and keeps them in the state they were for 2000 yrs. Now even the so called upper caste people have reservation called Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). So all sections of the society are benefitted . Inorder to stop discrimination we need to start this from school, we need to educate the students to treat everyone with dignity and respect. If we make the right steps we can eradication caste within the next 200 yrs.

I live in Kerala, here in rural areas, you can hear casteism in people's day to day conversations.
Kerala was and is dominated by castiest people, regardless of religion, it all started when the namboothiri immigrants arrived in kerala and started the caste system to put themselves at the top.

Everything was alright but u sounded very diplomatic in ur opinion. When a candidate toils hard for 2 yrs at such a tender age for such difficult comptetive examinations like jee and see other candidates in his own peer group securing better seats than him inspite of having a low score, how does he feel is simply unimaginable. And in these exams even difference of 1 mark changes your rank by thousands. The better solution should be to provide free coaching and financial assistance to the needy ones and then let them fight their own battle. Why killing talent in name of reservation??

I am an SC. Have heard stories from my father that how my father was forced to sit at very back of class in school and he didn't even had slippers and had to go bare feet in winters and summer. And many more incidents of discremination and humiliation.
But he fought all the odds and managed to get himself a decent job in bank.
He gave us a decent life but also he worked hard to uplift rest of his brothers and sisters. He worked hard to pay off all the debts his family had. He taught us to always remember where we belong so that we are always down to earth and feel responsibility for others of our community who still didn't got chance to change their lives.

Reservations could be treated as a way of making amends for how our ancestors treated dalits. Atleast as Gen Z, we should not let our family/society sow the seeds of caste superiority in our minds.
Or maybe gen z should know not to fall in such propaganda and bring the truth, that caste system was not a problem until britishers came and divided indians for their divide and rule policy, and instead reservation should be made on the basis of financial status, because I've had ppl of sc in my coaching classes who never studied/ bunked and yet are in good colleges today. Actual needy people are not benefitted by this scheme and its just driving a wedge between general and so called sc/st

Read about the number of SC students in IITs alone who even went to the extend of suicide due to discrimination. AS we all know, access of education or jobs were denied or rarely given to lower caste people before independence. This has widened caste unequality in the country. So there is a reason why these groups are called 'minority' groups. People who argue against this should also vouch for no reservations for physically challenged people. Let them be given their bread while we work harder to earn it.

Tbh.. I agree with each and every point of yours... BUT MAN! A normal student when faced discrimination for the first time, is when they prepare for entrances. I know there are lakhs of competitors and seats are just a few thousands, but sadly 60% of them are reserved. A same candidate with 90%ile is nit deserving for that seat, but a sc/st with 35%ile is.... WHY??? ... this is not a way jisse discrimination km jo jayga, isse bss hatred badh rha hai... Open category ka towards reserved categories. AGR sc/st/obc ko empower krna hai, economically strong krna hai to theek hai ap unse koi donation nhi le rhe clg mein, but atleast results should be merit based and not just castes....

The reservation system in education should only be based upon the income of the individual's household, my friend's father earns less than 1 LPA and he comes under EWS category he got similar marks/percentile in JEE as our peer group at school but still he won't get a good branch in colleges like DTU/NSUT, while me myself an OBC-NCL would get an average branch in those colleges like EE or ME and our other friend whose an SC would get a good branch like MCE or ECE in those colleges itself, and we also are well in our financial condition.
It really breaks me and my friend's heart! he's still very very happy for us and we all are very good friends despite this shit system, he said he will take a drop if he doesn't get into those colleges this year 😔 and we also are not heroic enough to leave those seats as our parents won't agree on it.
So as an OBC myself, im sorry to all my general category bhai behn

I didn't even discriminated a single person on their caste I didn't even knew what it was I'm a Brahmin but never saw someone with disparity but my college admission cutoffs showed me that I'm a Brahmin and some of my friends are not

Dhruv bhai I follow you from three years, and most of the time I agree with your views.. But in this case I have a different view point. first of all, the issue of creamy layer can't be avoided bcoz its the reality in many parts of the country. Many people of these castes are richer than many general category people. And also if reservation is important to give them equal opportunities, then there should be reservation only in educational institutions, why is there a need for reservation in jobs? after getting proper opportunities these people must be ready to compete with the general category, then why any reservation in jobs?
Also SC/ST members in lok sabha will never exceed their reserved quota
i.e 131 this shows the power of lower categories people in political representation that majority of power in india is controlled by other categories people
I was from financially sound family..... i loved girl from general category .... we were in relation from long time ... even education wise we were compatible with each other we were on government job..... i was quite sure her family will not refuse me....but at end her family told my father they are ok with everything but they cant give nod for our wedding coz of my caste........ ultimately she moved on...... i am pretty sure each and every sc st citizen of this country face discrimination one...... reservation shud be stopped only when every community will have equal share of land, dignity and jobs.........
