So, best way would be there should be timeline for to end caste based reservation. Good dalit leader should make commitment to nation that we will say good bye to reservation system on 2030,2047,2060 etc. but dalit politician will never say that due to their politics.since independence parliament is extending the caste based reservation policy by 10 years, so when will it end?
D P my real life story- I belong to general middle class category. In 2015 , I was preparing for Jee entrance exam in allen jaipur.after my jee exam I got 212 marks and my classmate got 108 marks. He got admission into nit, nagpur for electronic engg. He was from sc category and his finacial condition was stronger than me. I remember, He used to have motorbike back then. This kind of in justice is pretty normal in general category student. So just don’t look at argument of one side.

People discriminate based on skin colour too, would you advocate for a system that reserves seats based on the skin tones? The point is- what does reservation even solve? Definitely doesn't address "caste" discrimination. Reservation is a means to make it easy for people to get "richer and attain wealth status"? Is that "caste" discrimination all about? Then it wasn't caste discrimination at all, it was merely people mistreating the poor? Reservation is a tool that tackles "economic inequality" and thus should be based out of financial status not "caste". The existence of "cased based" reservation is infact the only form of discrimination that exists today. It is the single form of discrimination that is institutionalised where people are discriminated based on their status of "birth". Nobody's following their parental profession anymore. Hindu texts are no longer the authority to dictate anything. The real authority is the constitution and it clearly favours one group of people over others. Dr. Ambedkar was aware of it and so he proposed for the system to exist only for a period of 10 years. It's the dirty caste votebank politics of this country that continues this system of reservation, villifies people for being born in a caste that they had no control over and the actions of their ancestors.

MY FIT WORLD MFW for some people they cannot digest the fact that such a system of reservation exists. They think people under that system are lazy to achieve things and isn’t fair. But the reality is, their ancestors have struggled so much and faced so many discrimination that such a system is actually positive in my viewpoint. I believe everyone deserves to be on the same level. Unfortunately we can’t get rid of such an issue of caste so easily. The fact people are modern and is adaptable to newer technology but still clings on to such beliefs baffles me. And for caste system, a lot of people enjoy the pride that comes with a caste name that is so called forward caste members. And most times they do have personal gains so this is why they still don’t want to get rid of it. All of this is my personal view point though.

Getting reservation based on caste or gender basically says that this caste or this gender is inferior and so needs help this angers the upper caste and even more discrimination happens.
They get reservation it's fair that they face discrimination , and this is why discrimination will never end and our country will stay like this forever .
We should focus on building better schools , schools which provide very good education and limit reservation only till schools and not in jobs or collage , in this way the lower caste can get good education and when job selection or collage selection happens no one will face discrimination.
But that is not going to happen .

I am SC once i was travelling to home from work by train..the fellow passenger who was next to me..we started talking...he asked what i do..n my background..then he asked my cast i told him that i am SC..he just glared at me like what n how can a SC living good life..then he just moved to his seat..this is one of all such discrimination incidents which faced in my life till now...

I know so many educated "friends" who proudly speak about their Thakur and Brahmin status. They have never insulted me for being an OBC but their words show that they consider themselves on a higher standard.

Reservation mostly happens in very closed and segregated communities. In cities, we are forced to work as a team, hence these divides on basis of caste and such doesn't play a big role. People eventually forget about these divisions and start to interact freely.

Felt like I just wants to mention one of my experience here: I'm a public servant from South India and I had to stay at a government guest house at North India during my transit for completing an official duty at Delhi. I was given a share room that I didn't protest or rather mind. But at around 0900pm that day, some random individual stormed into my room by pushing open the ajar door and asked me what my cast is in a crude Hindi dialect. Perplexed by the whole situation I could only stare. In his eyes I could clearly see the disdain for me. After a few minutes of awkward stare down, he bursted out off the room after slamming the door. After collecting my thoughts for few minutes, I went to reception for making some sense out of the situation. Apparently the guy who pulled off that escapade was a Bramin (Sharma or something) and I was supposed to share the room with him and he did not like that idea. I still could not believe that such blatant disrespect is still rampant in our society.

This is one gem of an interview vidoe.... how it clears the point that reservation is necessary and it can't be made based on economic condition only since social standing of a community is equally important when it comes to their status and acceptance in the society especially Indian society which is by far one of the most complicated societies to understand and make rules and laws for. Even debating for hours couldn't have clear the point like these live interviews have. Can't thank print enough for this.
I didn't like how that person effortlessly told that we don't work hard . I know two my friends , one from general caste and other sc category both of them are quite equally rich and i can assure you that she wouldn't have faced any discrimination infact she was one of the popular in school. In neet 2023 my friend from general category didnt get mbbs admission even after scoring a 608 ( in kerala general cut off was 610) and other girl got admission for a 490 marks. Seriously you cant say that we didn't work hard. Getting a 608 is not easy. I myself had to spend sleepless nights and panic attacks while preparing for exam so i know. I am not saying that 490 doesn't require work but the other one worked twice. It really hurts when you put your soul into something but someone who didn't work like you are getting results.
People has to realise that most of the time discrimination is not based on caste but based on money, hygiene, work. You think people would show discrimination to Mukesh ambani if he was from lower caste. And if you are saying that sc people aren't that rich its not true , i have seen people . And pls not every brahmins and kshathriyas are rich. Societly equally avoids a brahmin who is not well dressed and begging as they avoid a person from lower caste. If you are saying things based on what happened in past , i also feel bad for them. That was too much. But it wasnt only happening with them but also with women, children, poor brahmins.. basically history in short was just powerful people harassing the powerless ( may be now also). Instead of reservation people should start fighting for basic things equally. Government should do everything for lower sector to grow. Like every facilities...then there wouldn't be disparity. I dont have any problem with government giving free services to lower caste in fact i am happy about it but reservations are like taking opportunities from equally working people especially in a county where there is huge unemployment .
I have seen people commenting about that thakur guy , actually he wasn't doing discrimination on caste it was on job and hygiene . he might have a friend from lower caste.While making a friend you never ask that person in the beginning itself what their caste is . May be some people do based on looks but that different thing happening all over world .

Wow! As a kid, I always thought that untouchabilty is an old concept and our society has become more open-minded. I used to interact with people without knowing their castes, I shared my lunch with children of different castes but, my mother was always against that idea. So, I thought only people of older generations have this mentality not youngsters....

As a dalit himself i can say its never been easy for us to survive in the long run maybe untouchability and impurity concept doesn't partake but there are there in invisible form and even people who are dalit they can understand because they have experienced this hidden discrepancy here and there but I don't care we are use to this kind of thing invisible form but who care and our struggle as compare to baba saheb is miniscule as you could imagine if he himself alone can face this why can't we dont want this we want this to fully stop and put an end on this but Hindu's are hindu but I'm proud to say I'm proud dalit and proud bodh believer and this caste system notion were created by brahmin who were hindu they are the ones who exploit the nation on caste system and created this 4 principle cast which still in form of act and that's the reason why Babasaheb chose Buddhism over hindu belief and their gods practices and me and my whole family follow his path we don't celebrate hindu religion and ther god and we don't even go to their temples and i know there are plenty of dalits are their who are doing the same we don't need hindu religion or any religion than Buddhism

The thing I observed in this interviews is that those who experienced the untouchability incidents were old or more like 60s or 50s , so Mr interviewer I asks you to please go to young generation people whom does the reservation helps. I accept that lower caste incidents were high at some point but now situation is completely different. Even if a 70 year old guy experience such a incidence he is not going to appear for the exams or getting the reservatin. So limit your interviews to young people who lives among young generation then u will get to know that such incidents are very negligible in current times.
Reservation is definitely necessary but in today's India it must only be on the basis of economic status.

So why caste reservation? I'm trying to explain.
Communities getting reservation were subjected to oppression for thousands of years. Denial of all kinds of fundamental rights especially education made them a depressed community. They were considered impure / untouchable so were denied access to mainstream society. This made them isolated from the rest. Mental health professionals say such social stigma if continued for long, causes a total psychological /mental downfall. They start believing they are inferior and others are superior.
After independence, a constitutional tool known as reservation was brought unanimously by intellectuals with an aim to bring back these communities to mainstream society. Currently their population in the mainstream society is not adequate. Sc+st+obc together have only 20-25% of the resources while their counterpart generals occupy 70% of the resources. Caste prejudice is the reason behind this gross inequality. So as long as there is this inequality, we can't think of an alternative to caste reservation.
