  • savory.global | See how Allan Savory, and his wife Jody, live in Zimbabwe, in traditional thatch-roofed mud huts, entirely off-grid with solar cells, LED lanterns, and solar hot water heater. He also goes everywhere barefoot. He was born and raised in Zimbabwe and currently lives approximately half of the year at his traditional home at the Africa Centre for Holistic Management.

    About Savory Institute:
Loss of grasslands leads to climate change, floods, droughts, famine, and worldwide poverty. It’s our mission to promote large-scale restoration of the world’s grasslands through Holistic Management.
Holistic Management is a process of decision-making and planning that gives people the insights and management tools needed to understand nature: resulting in better, more informed decisions that balance key social, environmental, and financial considerations.

@EMAN67 (Movies, politics, commentary) Yes but Savory has an agreement with the elders and gave all the land back. Look into it before you blindly judge. Not all people are bad.

@EMAN67 (Movies, politics, commentary) You can't, there just aren't any to tell. No land in Zimbabwe (unlike South Africa) was taken away from any black person. Are you aware of how the 'Tribal Trust Areas' were established ? When the whites came to Zimbabwe they found an extremely underpopulated land and the BSA Company (yes, the guy you love to hate - Rhodes) sat with all the Chiefs and Elders and gave them first choice of ALL the land in Zim and they chose the TTL's as it was easy to till with the implements that they had at the time. The whites took the land that needed deeper tilling and made a success of it. Before you say that the whites were 'invaders' or such like name may I remind you that both the Shona and the Matabele were the same coming in from the North East and South respectively. Please take the tree truck off your shoulder !

Open land does not mean its not owned. Land was reserved for grazing and future generations. It all belonged to them. Just because there is no building on your lawn does not mean you don't own it. Let's start there.
