    I love the irony of Stormcast calling the seraphon traitors for not assisting them in their time of need, when Sigmar himself literally did the same at the start of the age of chaos, turning his back on the mortal realms. A bit hypocritical of them

    I understand the seraphon are detached from hubris and seek only the most direct way to counter chaos....
    But walking past the defenses getting slaughtered is something my culture calls a “dick move”.

    • @marth354
      @marth354 Před 3 lety +2

      Haven't read the story yet for myself; but my guess would be that they would know the other Stormcast are on their way due to how good they are at observing the big picture. So it was probably determined the gate could be held without them and that their mission was much more pressing. Still a dick move; but makes some tactical sense if you don't put value in the affects of Stormcast dying on their souls and personalities considering they can typically be resurrected.

  • @thewayfarer8849
    @thewayfarer8849 Před 3 lety +14

    I love how Slann have those priorities. Chaos has battered the other factions quite a bit. Expecting Malerion and New Dark Elves due to his conspicuous absence, reference to a 'dragon' in Teclis makes me think it's foreshadowing because Malerion fused with his dragon, and his is as important to the Aelves in shadow as Teclis and Tyron are in light.

  • @TTdmhBT
    @TTdmhBT Před 3 lety +8

    I believe, whatever mission the seraphon are on must be of the utmost importance to reality itself for them to simply stroll by a massive battle. Its like they're on another level and can't be bothered with little squabbles. I'm really interested to see what kind of damage the larger dinosaur creatures the seraphon ride will do. Those models look awesome. This is an epic level sequence of books from what I've seen so far. I'm also interested in how the starblood stalkers may have a slight importance in the whole story by trying to defeat beastgrave's curse and how it could tie into the larger story.

  • @MisterDragon
    @MisterDragon Před 3 lety +22

    FINALLY, my Lizzy Bois are actually in the story.
    Hurray!
    Maw man, Lizzies see the big picture. Stormcast ought to realise. We have many more millennia of experience fighting chaos than they do. They're like toddlers asking why daddy isn't home. "Daddy has to work."
    Literally more experience than anybody else in the setting, because we predate the setting. Heck we were around to fight chaos from the start of the previous setting. Elves are still children to us!
    Though Elves were useful in helping build the Vortex that one time. Like a giant Daemon toilet flushing them from existence.

    The Seraphon are playing the big game of chess, the stormcast can't understand that. The main goal is to crush chaos. If they have to let a pawn, rook, knight, bishop get taken to win, then they will do that. They always keep several moves ahead. And to everyone else it may seem like "traitors", but they see the big picture, when no one else can.

      I mean I read his books so I know Gardus is supposedly one of the most kind and compassionate of the Stormcast. So I’m very interested in how his character is affected by repeated reforging. It’s easy to think the Stormcast are ridiculous on a macro scale but once you get to know a character you like, it’s pretty gut wrenching to see them die because in the back of your mind you’re thinking, “Oh shit! What does this mean going forward!?”

  • @wilddy88

    I'm of two minds about the Seraphon not fighting. In the one hand, like you said, makes total sense given everything they have done before. On the other, it would have been cool to see the script changed a bit. Maybe they could have sent a token force, more to say, "Don't worry, the Seraphon are important to the Order Alliance". Or maybe they could have trailed a Destruction army behind them that attacked the back of the Nurgle forces.
    Anyway, I just really want to see the Seraphon be more involved and I hope this is a first step to Thai

    The Seraphon actions are sound, especially if they knew there was another force coming to relieve the defence. Battered and beaten as it was, the returning Stormcast charging into the rear was that.
    Plus, what is another host of Nurgle in Gyrhan? With the All points gate opened by Allarielle, the Seraphon are just taking advantage of a tactical choice their 'allies' have made.
    As always, we're used as a Dues Ex Machina or a plot device, not as an actual interactive faction in the game. Which is a shame.

    My thoughts on Seraphon : It all boils down to point of view.
    From their perspective (seraphon) no they are not because they owe no loyalty to Sigmar, or the Pantheon of Order at large. Can't betray someone if they haven't sworn anything.
    If the Stormcast decide they are traitors, they are simply wrong in that perspective.
    BUT From the Stormcast point of view (and somewhat Sigmar which is WAY shortsighted in the Slaan point of view), they are traitors because they didn't "help" order right then and there. I think this mindset of the Stormcast is very self-centered but that... is human. And so i'm fine with it since it shows that even as a Stormcast, you are still basically human in your ways of seeing the universe.
    The Seraphon are fighting Chaos "on another level" they play the game of Go while the Stormcast are ON the board... but it's a chessboard they don't even play the same game..
    Trairos or not, the point is moot. they don't play the same game. But i love the fact that in this simple point of view, they give some humanity back to the Stormcast who have as a theme the loss of their humanity after each reforging :) .
    Brilliant writting between the lines :)
