Fijian is an Austronesian language of the Malayo-Polynesian family spoken by some 350,000-450,000 ethnic Fijians as a native language. The 2013 Constitution established Fijian as an official language of Fiji, along with English and Fiji Hindi, and there is a discussion about establishing it as the "national language".
If you are interested to see your native language/dialect be featured here.
Submit your recordings to otipeps24@gmail.com.

Fiji indian here! I was just looking through your videos the other day to see if you'd covered our country before, so this was a pleasant surprise! Thank you for your hard work and helping us spread our culture :)
If you were to cover Fiji hindi someday, it'd be a real treat. Vinaka! 💗🌺
It's like a polynesian language, but with more sounds and consonant clusters
Oh, there are no consonant clusters. Just like in most Polynesian languages.
Tongan or maldivian (dhivehi) language next please 🇹🇴🇲🇻, thank you :) 👍
Proud to be a Fijian
Agreed🙌🏾
Bula Vinaka❤️
I would love to hear the lord's prayer in toki pona 🥴
always superior andy...
Informative as always.
I see one thing my language (Chuukese; Mortlockese🇫🇲) has in common with Fijian. (Besides the numbers and common words that most austronesian languages share) It’s the color “blue”. Blue in my language is “araw”, but you can say “likaraw” and I’ve also heard “arawaraw”.
LOVE FROM ROMANIA 😍
Wow! Very intriguing!
Lovely Melody!
One of the Lima gang 🤣
Good video 👍👍
This is such a good video! I really wanna go to Fiji and experience her culture 🇫🇯❤️
The language of Jimmy Superfly Snuka
Nice video love it ♥️❤️
Sounds like a mixture of Japanese and Tagalog
Tagalog and Fijian are both in the Austronesian family tree
But that's not what it is. Your observation is pointless.
too me it's like Spanish and Tagalog
@@YourCreepyUncle. it's their observation your comment was pointless.
I think NZ Maori sounds more like Japanese.
A fijian chiefs house has two types of doors; nobels entry/exit door and, visitors/commoners enrty/exit door. And the house is split in 3 which is the chiefs side, nobels, and visitors/commoners. Nobels sit along side the walls facing inward of the house whereas commoners/visitors face towards the chief opposite to them.
A regular fijian house is also split but by 4, one for the owner of the house, one for the chief, one for your family or clan, and one for commoners/visitors. They each have their own door as well.
Please know that this cultural standard of "rank" is now not commonly used in many houses in today's society.
What some of us do have is the respect for elders and chiefs, as they enter our house we show great respect to them by having them sit in a comfortable couch or chair and the owner of the house has the right to sit next to them, where as the others living in the household offer them a big meal to feel welcomed.
Ok I'm done 😮💨🙂
Io is yes and Iyo is Yes in bicol too (my grandma is from sorsogon) ♡
Ni sa bula vinaka! 🇫🇯
Lima gang!
I don’t speak Visaya but I’ve heard from a couple of people that it sounds similar to Fijian.
I know they are related but how similar to they sound?
But why it sound like a bit like Malagasy with AO sound at the end
I see the Lima they have as their number five.
Lol They say the capital of Peru as number five
why does the number 5 (lima) in the austronesian language family tree seems to be unforgotten?
Lima gang
Please, make Palauan🇵🇼♥️
can you do Toki Pona language
Good idea!
It's more of a conlang but that would be interesting.
I think Andy only does Natural languages
lima
lol, one is DUA!
Hello Andy, please make a video about Fiji Hindi. I never heard of that before and I am willing to know. Thank you so much
It's a creolized version of Hindi, mainly stemming from Bhojpuri with native Fijian and English influences. It's a very beautiful language, but unfortunately not very known worldwide. I highly recommend researching Fiji Hindi and its history sometime if you'd like!
How did you obtain the flags?
Andy thanks for your effort!
Where are you from?

Could you guys do Hawaii? We like people to know we exist 😂
"Ohana" means "family"
Ofc you exist. Hawaii is pretty famous, y'know
Hawaii is like the most famous island of the Pacific💀
@@JonatasRafael38 Isn't it 'ohana
So head and hair are both "ulu"? 😵
Bula!
Tagalog accent
"One" is "dua" in Fijian while "two" is "duwa" in hiligaynon (Philippines). 🤣
Two in Te Reo Māori is Rua and in Mulihig/Murihiki language is Lua
Not so sure about my Murihiki though
Sounds like an austronesian langauge spoken with a Russian accent
