That nasal quality you hear with Dan is his native language, Portuguese. As in Music of the Night when he says Da intead of The sometimes. There is no TH sound in Portuguese

Thank you Kevin for reactions that are from a professional point of view. That is much more meaningful. If I had that talent, I’d show it off too!!! He has worked hard on his voice for many years as he has mentioned. He’s not afraid of giving it his all!!

Since the Brazilian Portuguese language is spoken with some nasality, you can expect some of that to show through at times. In addition his language doesn't use the consonant blend "th" in any of their words. Hence, you occasionally hear Dan's accent when he sings in English. He is Brazilian and was taught by other Brazilians. He wasn't schooled in English until he was in high school.

Ken~ I really enjoyed your reaction and analysis, as always. Dan’s cover of Pricilla’s song (metal version), is one of my absolute favorites, I listen to this one often. I’ve always just called it an amazingly killer slide scream!! It works! Lol
He only does a sliding scale similar to the one in this in one other song, that I’ve heard. Of course I can’t remember which…, it’s one of his older 80’s covers and it’s glorious!

Dan’ energy and amazing singing style are so joyful. I listen to his songs when I need an energy boost st or a change in perspective from too tired to “yes, i am going to conquer this problem. Some of the sadder song are so very beautiful, i enjoy these too, simply to see his passion performance. These bring me a differen kind of joy. The joy of seeing his masterful technique and skill .
That run he did reminds me of what Floor and Marco did in the Nightwish song Romanticide. Amazing both times.

It's weird hearing a voice teacher saying "it's okay to sing nazel" that was an absolute nono with my voice teacher.
Don’t know if you noticed…. Ken edited what he said right there. Lol. If you blink, you’ll miss it. Lol. You can see where the video is spliced. I suspect he said something different first. I guess Ken didn’t like what he initially said.🤷♀️
I’m finding a lot of who we would call experts, Ken, Elizabeth with The Charismatic Voice, Peter Barber….. they’ve all been taught that nasality is bad in practice, but all 3 have said that they think it’s great in some genres of music because it’s used expressively to give a certain feel. I agree with them!😊
Hi Ken- please do a reaction of Glennis Grace of the Netherlands- she is absolutely amazing. She is one of the best female singers on the planet, but extremely underrated. There is so much to pick from- she sounds exactly like Whitney Houston (Run to you) and she does a host of other artists including Beyoncé, ect.

Ken, I want to apologize. I can't find the video where I was arguing about when and where Dan records his music, but I was saying he records it in his garage studio. Well, I will admit I was wrong. I asked him this question on a live video and got my answer directly from his mouth. He records the audio in a downstairs studio, then does the video recording in his garage studio. Just like you said. Again, I am sorry! He said it would be too echoey in his garage.
Seriously... ENOUGH with Dan Vasc already.
