Fun fact: The actor who played Neville was actually terrified of Alan Rickman in real life and has been ever since they filmed the first movie. After they wrapped up Deathly Hallows part 2, he visited Alan in his trailer and actually admitted his fear of him. Movie wise, if you pay attention, the bogart is contained inside a magic circle. Remus didn't tell the students that, and harry ends up crossing its threshold, so the dementor/bogart could affect him directly. Plus bogart retain some of their forms abilities, so dementor while not being able to use the kiss, can still mess someone up.
