Excellent presentation bought the kit now I feel the now the installation is not a a major headache and it looks great in sure it will do its job just fine. Thx for the tutorial.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! TOTALLY AWESOME UPGRADE!!!
ah no it aint
I like this approach. It's good to see a car resto that uses the original car structure with some economical stiffening apparatus as opposed to those vintage clones that have maybe 100 pounds of original body panels and 50 grand or more poured into whiz bang ultra horsepower tech with a pro street chassis.
So tired of Boydsters and Foose mobiles.
Right? Those builds make you think that what they really want is a Lexus with a plush leather interior and power everything, instead of a classic.
I realize I'm kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good site to stream new series online ?
@Fletcher Jax flixportal :)
@Manuel Sterling Thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I appreciate it!!
@Fletcher Jax no problem :D
REAR SHOCK MOUNT KIT INCLUDED WOULD BE AWESOME !
Kit needs to include a rear shock mount.
Will this kit work with a frame that has a leaf spring pocket modification?
Guy said most popular engine and transmission combinations. I'm guessing that means SBC, BBC & LS. Would this work with a W engine/TKO500 combo?
What air hammer are you using? Is it available from Summit?
Will it strengthen enough if I'm converting a coupe to a convertible
Is this kit recommended for a tri five convertible also?
Won’t work with the x frame of the vert
How much power and torque is this kit good for?
as much as the brakes and suspension
Is this kit still available?
You would think that a company the size of Summit could afford a remote microphone...
That mount he is talking about that is part of old trans mount is convertible only.
Kinzie Burton both my cars had the rear mounts like in this video. I thought the convertibles have that big X brace on them? Mine are just two door post cars
No, the old transmission side mount horns are on all of the Tri-Five cars..... I’ve cut scores of them off....
👍
I’ve got a better idea, less work, less money; use the frame as it was designed. Use a Bellhousing that has the mounting ears. Early Chevy truck Bellhousing has the ears. Use original front engine mounts that mount to the front of the block.
The Bellhousing mounts tie the two frame rails together. The Bellhousing mounts are directly in line with the firewall. The firewall stiffens the frame and also resists the torque of the engine.
That's a great idea unless your dealing with 500lbs of torque which will break the ears right off that bell housing. Then your left with all that stress on the bell housing bolts caused be the distance from the front mounted motor mounts and the trans mount.
In the garage ; holy crap! I’d never heard of or seen broken Bellhousing mounts before! I bought my first 56 Chevy in 1970 and I’ve owned four 55-56 Chevies total, and I’ve been friends with several tri-five owners, too, and never heard of such a thing. Thanks for the warning. 👍
Or, you could use a Lakewood Scatter Shield, like I did on the back of my 427 and 4 speed, 6 cyl front mount holes, and have never had any issues! @@inthegarage342
Looks like nothing more than a fancy Transmission Mount to me.
Tha audio sucks
This clearly does not fit a one piece frame. This is false advertising. Make two kits for both frames. Why should I have to cut up a kit that is supposed to fit. This is garbage.
I understand where you are coming from the one piece frame is increasingly rare and the majority of people are using two piece frames. We designed our kit to fit a two piece, the only difference is the width between the frame rails. All you need to do is trim off the locating plates on our kit. If that is an issue for you I can make you a narrower crossmember for your kit. Its very difficult for us to make for every frame as GM only offers dimensions on a two piece frame. Please let us know how we can help you .
@@HPICustoms what I am saying is that if you knew it didn't fit a one piece frame all you had to do is let people know that. I spent $900 hard earned dollars for something that doesn't even remotely fit. Only to have to hack up some expensive garbage to reengineer it. I would have never bought it if I had known it wouldn't fit.
Get a microphone if you're going to make CZcams videos!!
dont see how it reinforces it ,waste of money
Wow what a half assed way to even work on a frame.....jack stands under a frames? Jack stands under reared ?
That was probably done to allow good angles of the camera with without obstruction
Looks like a pretty good way to work on a frame to me? Not everyone has a frame jig to work on their personal car... lol Great video guys.
I agree, had the Jack stands been placed under the frame and leveled properly so any warpage could be monitored it's reasonable to use them. Using them under the suspension is unacceptable.
We are a full fledged chassis shop and have frame tables at our disposal. We made this frame on jack stands to prove that the average person can install this in their garage. After installing countless kits both ways that the jack stand method works perfectly to install this kit.
HPI Customs yep and i have been fixing these messes for 30 years . From clips.. to frames ... to rearend housings done halfassed on jack stands.
At least set up a laser and do it right 🙄
Joe average with a mig welder ain’t getting this right...
Summit racing SUCKS.
Cars are 65 years old. Summit sells volume, likely phone staff of age 20-40. Some are weekend warrior drag, maybe short track racers. See this, find a good frame shop, and explain what you want. IF you buy cheap kit, that has to be cut up, you get what you pay for. A good fabricator / welder can add and fit what you NEED. $ how stiff / added weight do you want to go ? 🤔
You can order direct from us if you prefer?
Thats 1 ugly brace. Strange how its mounted. Hard pass.
Can you use this kit and still use the Helix Suspension 4 link kit Part #HLI -9192?
