- Ford still has some good cars, but slowly fading away...
Its sad because their past is so rich of craziness and ideas others never came across like making their first transit go really fast around a circuit.
Not only that they were cars for the people, making it possible to everyone experience their racing heritage on a cheap pricetag.
Now the only cars carrying such heritage are the focus and fiesta...ST...on a fat pricetag...
Material Used:
• Ford Sierra RS500 Cosw... - Hry
It’s kinda wild how the European branch of Ford almost feels like a completely different brand with its own unique heritage and identity from the American one despite the company originally being American.
I often forget that Ford isn’t a British company or something lol
Yeah same as ford Australia being very separate
@@orwhynotrandom3593 yeh id say ford australia is pretty much a whole different company, different performance brand different racing branch, different chassis and whole new engines developed just for australia, ford australia had litterally nothing in common with ford America
The European wing of ford used to make some really cool cars, almost every one of them unique in their own way. Nowadays it's either a Focus or Fiesta. Or even worse the modern Mondeo. I don't like the fact that it looks as if they glued a mustang's front to some random sedan design. My favourite old fords have to be the RS200, the last of the Capris and the Escort RS Cossie (which an old neighbour of mine actually owned, and I'd talk to him about the car sometimes)
Focus mk2 RS and ST was a cool car too
the RS200 was beautiful & would probably turn heads even today. I always found the MK2 focus range looked like flashy running shoes; each to their own, but definitely not to my taste.
YOO TF2
I’ve got no problem with the focus or fiesta, maybe biased because I own a mk7 fiesta ST, but what I’m not a big fan of is using the mustang name for an SUV, the puma name for an awful crossover, and the other boring cars like the b-max, ecosport, kuga. All just dreary crossovers wearing a different body
@@Krysstophe oh yeah, I should clarify. the Focus and Fiesta are fantastic cars. but that value is diminished somewhat when those are basically all they offer for more than ten years. Personally I find the Mk. I focus RS is a pretty neat car
can't resist myself from those sierra and escort cosworth cars! ford really had some of the coolest car back in the day like the granada, they're simply magical.
Capri, Taunus
Hi
The Granada sucked
@@sayingnigromakesyoutubecry2647 how about a ford pinto :))
@@Jonssi05 lol
The fact that the Escort RS Cosworth, Focus RS and the RS200 were the 3 cars to introduce me to the amazing world of Ford (Europe).
Ford Europe: We have tons of history and amazing cars
Ford America: Help my car wont turn :(

@@ieatmentoss1714 not those cobra’s, the SVT Cobra’s that followed. The 93, 95, Cobra R, 03 Terminators, and every Shelby afterwards handle pretty good. Respect is due to the original A/C Cobra’s though
As a Brazilian, we got tons of the European cars instead of the American ones (The Euro Escort, the Ka, Focus, Mondeo, etc...), and they got really popular over here!
However, production of those cars stopped in 2020 after Ford became solely an importer.
And butchered some designs but the F1000 is cool truck
@@luichinplaystation610
The F1000 is basically a rebadged 5th gen F250. Still a good truck.
Ford stopped producing in Brasil? How sad. I don't know if they still produce in Argentina... I have a Ford Ka 2017 made in Brasil. It's good. It's sad to see that go away...
@@sayingnigromakesyoutubecry2647
They stopped in Brazil after commiting a series of relatively small, but important mistakes.
@@RedTsarOldChannel-INACTIVE what kind of mistakes? Here in Argentina they no longer produce the focus... The fiesta, the Ka and the mondel aren't being produced anywhere. They only have the ranger EcoSport and Kuga for sell in Argentina
One thing I wish we had in the states was the proper gen II focus. It blows my mind that an American company left out its best 4 cylinder cars in their own country
That hothatch was nothing to laugh at, it showed what FWD cars could do at their absolute peak, one big beast :D
@@cyandic1000 I envy you forsure
Yep, looking at the new focuses and fiestas I just wish we had those over here; they look so good
I have mk2 2008 1.6 tdi :p
Maybe ill engine swap onec make it have a lot of hp and name it focus 500 and 1 (501)
well to be fair, the focus and fiesta are the result of Ford Europe's efforts. Just like the old escorts... and because they're euro, Ford doesn't think it sells in a country that has ruined its own carmarket by buying nothing but trucks, SUV's and crossovers. Don't blame Ford, blame yourselves for the utter stupidity that is Ford's current line up
My dad owned an XR3i back in the day, accidentally ended up continuing the tradition when I got my MK7 Fiesta ST and I love it to bits
Damn, wish i had an mk7, i got mk6 ST and its really a bitch in every way possible...
modern fords aren't particularly bad, in fact they pretty good but they're just totally uninteresting. they still do the obligatory ST models including the new Puma but it's not the same as an RS or a Cosworth or an XR3.
The St were good till the latest gen ford release in my opinion. I've heard the '14 focus St was a blast to drive and with the yellow colour most people pick it looks nice
@@deus1278 Current mk8 Fiesta ST is absolutely brilliant, I've got one and I love it except for a couple of well-known quality issues which are manageable. Not sure about the Focus
It’s the problem with most modern cars, nowadays they’re just appliances you treat like crap until it breaks… then you buy a new one and start all over
I had a -05 Fiesta ST150 a year ago before i eventually traded it in for a -07 FN2 Type R. I still miss the little Fiesta. Bulletproof internals like in the Honda, basic but nice interior, genuinely great exterior. Simple, honest and fun to drive cars, Ford used to be so good at that.
I had the same car, same age. Its was quite old and used. Bought it and drove it for 4 months. Pushing 200km/h i got a check oil light. Other cars would have broken/damaged. Barely any oil left. After a checkup this vehicle had no issues. Refilled the oil and checked it evey 2 weeks. After 2 years of amazing fun I sold it and bought... A mk2 (05) focus ST 225. Its my favorite car.
The fn2 is one of the worst type R 🥲
@@TheSilent1998 But let's be real here, the FN2 is a far better car than the EP3 if it's your only car like the FN2 is for me. More creature comforts, better looking interior in general, bigger boot, still has the legendary N/A K20, just a bit more practical car all-around. The very stiff suspension setup and rear torsion beam instead of independent on the FN2 don't bother me at all.
@@Zentist I actually came from a -08 MK2 Focus ST to the FN2 Type R. Although it is a faster car than the FN2 there is no doubt about that, i just started to hate the weight of the front end during fast road driving.
@@TheMakk3 If you say the fn2 it is comfortable 🥲, i drove one of these and in comparison with the accord cl9, it is weaker.
Should've included a Capri at least once, they are legendary, beautiful and quite fast
As a Canadian, I always forget how cool ford Europe was, since the only cool thing we ever got was the mustang until like 2010, other than a super limited run of the ford sierra called the mukur xr-4
we got the Taurus SHO, we got the Thunderbird (which you could get with a supercharger or a V8), we got the Crown Vic, the Lincoln Town Car, we got the Probe, if you wanna go back to the 70s we got tons of cool shit... the euro Capri, the Ranchero, the Pinto vans, the Maverick, the Gran Torino, idk. then we got the EXP, we were also home to the Broncos (1 and 2), we also got the first gen Scorpio as a Merkur too, we got the Mercury Cougar, which Europe rebadged as a Ford. we also got the Escort ZX2 + GT, and the Focus ZX3 SVT which got 170hp + 6MT, that’s not bad for a small hatchback in 2002. Ford Europe might be cool but they also didn’t get a lot of shit we got. you can’t tell me all those classic Lincolns aren’t cool af, but someone with a modern Nissan Sentra in their pfp probably wouldn’t know what cool was if it smacked em in the face
@@wolfgangem1565 most cool Ford's sold here were just "take big car, put soft suspension, give big v8" and that was the end of it, really cool at first, but it gets a bit old when every single car show has the same 12 different cars and that's it.
Also pardon me for not changing my pfp, but I now have an x308 jaguar xj8 if that helps my supposed "coolness"
What about the 2005 GT?
@@wolfgangem1565 also Europe got the Ford Ka which is far from a good car. While Ford of Europe may have gotten more cool sports cars, at least most of Ford's American offerings were decent. Ford of Europe got some absolute stinkers if they weren't sporty.
@@person.w9780 or even the 2016 Ford GT

The 1st Gen Ford Focus will always be my most favorite hatchback of all time, I don’t care what anyone says.
I love the mk1/mk2 diesels but I prefer the mk2 RS Compared to the mk1
What about the delta intergrate
It's Mt 1st car & still have it. I even switched out the bumpers with svt bumpers
Ford focus MK1 still my favourite hatchback to this day
Meanwhile with the new supervan
Corporate: it must be electric!
Engineering: ok fine but we’re still going to do a bunch of cocaine when we design it.
I remember pushing old Sierra to it’s limits. Somehow we’ve put volvo’s 2.4 in and it generated about 330 go after tune. Ended on tree :(
I am convinced that a Ford probe should be included in the Video...
They sold really good in Europe.
(I know that they are more or less Part of the international wing of Ford)
Really good on Europe but intended for the US Market in which the mustang enthusiasts didn't appreciate, quite a shame because its a beautiful marriage of ford's funkiness with Japanese reliability. It's a larger simpler looking puma in small words xD
It sold well until we found out Gareth Cheeseman had one
Give us our hatches! Give us our Vans! Give us our Rally cars! Give us our Cosworths!
Fuck the EU
Car makers: here, have a “crossover SUV” (oversized hatchback)
They didn’t even need the new puma, the focus was already an oversized hatch
As an American, I feel your pain. Although the Puma crossover is cool and I wish it came here, I still miss the Fiesta, and I think it was a really bad idea for Ford to discontinue the Fiesta worldwide.
They all have the same problem. Emission regulations and focus on boring suvs
One European Ford that always seems to get overlooked is the 98-02 Ford Cougar, I've seen a few about and they look amazing
It's the puma on steroids lolo. It had potential to be more than what it was imo, like the Ford probe, two of the many that never had a fair chance to shine.
They were sold in Europe, but they weren't european, imported from tge US instead, like the Explorer or Windstar.
@@Timico1000 yeah like the probe it was assembled in the US then exported to Europe, etc.
Awesome car
That's an American car
Love these videos, I was born in 96 yet I very much miss the 90’s
That's the sad thing about cars now; 98% of people who buy cars are looking for the safest way to get from point a to point b with as little stress as possible. Cool cars were supposed to be bought by young people but now the cheapest "fun" car (that isn't a Miata) starts at 35k if you're lucky. No one's buying to keep a car, they have to have the newest technology or the freshest design, you can't have your neighbor out doing you now can you? That's why leasing is so popular; why am I going to commit to this car for 5+ years even though it will be rendered obsolete in half that time when I can just get a new one every couple of years?
I recently got an 07 Mondeo ST TDCI and I'm absolutely in love with it
July 2022. My Sierra is very brave - still used as a daily what makes me proud
Please say you Upgraded the locks
Bro fuck CZcams. Why does the best song have to be so restricted? Real Little Dark Age would make this even more emotional.
Cannot resist the 90s-2000s fast fords, they're just excellent
Awesome video. Thank you.
I'm so glad my grandfather bought a Fiesta mk3 back in '95. It was his last car and my first one. Sluggish 1.1 but extreme joyride.
Fiesta ST and focus ST/RS are still cool cars
I have an '05 Mondeo ST220, man I love that car, sounds great, drives decently enough and it's a regular no bullshit analog car
Not much has changed really tbh, there’s a new Focus RS on the horizon, they just dropped their new supervan and you can finally get a RHD V8 Mustang. Eventually it’ll all be electric but not just yet…
Not fading just yet. I drive the current mk8 Fiesta ST and it's brilliant
You know they're bad when they make the 1st gen Focus hatch look good
Sadly in Scotland some of Ford Europes finest cars were to hard to get insurance on, the same problem which forced my dad to sell the Sierra Cosworth XR4i.
On a lighter note I do hope to find the Cosworth despite my dad assuming it’s scrapped (the chassis was rusting)
Update: I figured out why my dad couldn't get insurance, it was because it wasn't an XR4i but rather an RS500 and thus because of the large, borderline racing engine it made it impossible to get insurance on.
When I was born in 1998 my dad had been driving for 6 years (since he was 18) and he still had his first car he bought with his own money. It was a mark 1 ford mondeo in silver and he loved that thing. Sadly it didn’t survive and he sold it and replaced it with a rover which he hated.
As a puma st owner I can say that even though it’s a fun car, nothing compares to old Ford Europe
Guys i heard an escort rs2000 in a little village a few weeks ago i was able to ear the intake 1mile away and the exhaust at least as much it was such a cool sound and the looooks
When i was young my dad had a mk4 xr3i escort it was really fun car to drive
There was a time when Ford cared about how people saw it. And wouldn't let any part of the market leave without a Ford being in the option pool.
Now it's just all cringe
a few days ago I saw a purple Escort Cozzy zoom by while riding my bike, it was sick
Ford Europe > Ford America they should just go independent man
Ford America > Ford Europe (Europe banned Shelby models)
@@rabbidcrazy787 Ford Europe > Ford America 100x times , Ford Europe makes much better cars of which Ford America even "imported" like the Ford Transit & Ford Focus (both designed by Ford Europe)
And Europe didn't ban Shelby models cuz they competed in races here, maybe Ford just doesn't sell them cuz no one buys literal shit
@@rabbidcrazy787 Though banning them is a bit harsh in which I agree, but owning a big gas guzzler in Europe would be just too expensive because of the heavy taxing on engine size + emissions. And it's getting worse with time, e.g. Mercedes stopped their v8s on the AMG c63 models for the renault turbo 4 cylinder engines.
@@GiorGiiTV Ford America > Ford Europe 500x times. Ford Europe only makes 4 cylinder cars. the V8 models are US imports & they don't even have the F150 Raptor. Shelby models are not shyte so Keep quiet & improve your taste.
@@cyandic1000 The USA has gas guzzler taxes too but I'm assuming it's cheaper there or something? Also, if the the GT500's engine is too big of an engine & a gas guzzler, how is the Aston Martin DBS, Bentley Continental GT Speed, Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari 812, Lamborghini Aventador, Lamborghini Huracan, and Pagani Huayra (all of them have bigger engines btw) are considered legal in Europe?
The 70s-90s escorts are just something else, and also a fierce opponent on the rally stage.

Amazing video
i still have a UK MK3 Granada kicking about, hope to restore it soon! i love ford Europe. because they are timeless motors
Gotta say tho, i recently had a 2019 fiesta ST for a couple weeks
That was the most fun i had daily-driving in a goodass while, genuinly looking into getting a lightly used one
The newest model doesnt really do it for me although supposedly its also really good
The 2015-2022 Mustang, 2016-2019 Focus RS and Ford GT are also really good, Ford actually kept making cool cars longer than other manufacturers. You have to give them credit for making a new Mustang too, a manual V8 in 2023 from such a big company is a big deal.
The Ford Puma looks like it would be a FIRE offroad hot hatch
The Focus C Max MK1 was a massive hit in the UK
surprised there wasn’t a clip of it here
Ford Europe died when they Americanized the Mondeo. Went from a great little saloon that handled better than all its competitors to a flat American lard
i cant lie, i was disappointed that i didnt see the mk1 or mainly the mk2 fiesta XR2, incredibly cool cars!
First it was the fiesta that left the us, now it’s the focus that we’ve had for many years. We need them back, they were true legends

I remember I went to my first car show last year and I saw a escort Cosworth and it was awesome. Not many people can say that.
Mk4 fiesta had some extraordinary handling for it's class.
Thw rally cars and classics and such were cool and all but it's those 90s/00s fiesta shitboxes that stole my heart... same for the old micras and saxos too, something about them, they're so cute :)
European Ford had some great cars, now it's just crossovers
Now waiting for 1hour version
Here in brazil most majority of fords are european or european inspired, i started loving since i was 6 cuz my dad had a MK4 escort and some years later a MK4 fiesta, since i loved ford cuz of its style, engine and history itself tbh

Atleast we still have the fiesta and the focus:(
idk if im just traumatized but my mom had both an escort and a focus and i thought they were the lamest cars on the road back in grade school, my dad had a eclipse that left an impression on me for my first car lol

thats rs200 clip at the end.. never seen a video despict acceleration so good.
And somehow you made a Ford KA look fun
I drive a 2010 Diesel Focus sedan, the car is average in many aspects; except for the traction it has. If you have the guts and skills, you can outrun pretty much any other commuter car on the road while turning. I believe it has the best traction of any C segment car ever produced.
Note: Its stock except for a little wider rims.
my dad had a '86 or '87 Merkur XR4Ti (basically a ford sierra XR4i but made for US regulations) up until my mum forced him to sell it and buy a "family car". a couple decades later he decided to buy a mk3 supra to scratch the turbo itch.
honestly i'd take the escorts and sierras over their mustang counterparts for the focus i didnt really like the early ones til the st or was it gt? i like the 5 cyl one and i like the awd one anyway them's hot
Come to think of it, Ford is the only American car brand that actually understands the EU market, the other ones left the EU market since the mid-late 2000s due to the fact that most American cars excluding Ford that are sold in America didn't sell in Europe.
Only Tesla cars are actually successful in Europe (mostly because their cars are electric).
That's because up until 2015 the only Fords sold in Europe were developed and built in Europe for the European market
@@shingosshojiopoulos6608 yeah...people tend to forget that Ford europe was more or less a seperate entity throughout the twentieth century up til 2015
It's not only Ford. A whole era has gone.
Car manufacturers follow the money and the money points to boring big fat cars with nice interiors and screw how it looks outside. Most modern cars handle way better than their 2000’s counterparts… but even the handling of many of these cars has become boring due to how predictable everything is.
@@fattyMcGee97 Today we have the best cars we ever had, but as you say: they've become boring. Perfection killed emotion.

I remember growing up always wanting a Ford, Escorts and Sierras used to drive around all the time. Really handsome cars. Don't know what the fuck happened the past 20 years. They just look so cheap now and the interiors are on levels with the French.
ford fiesta was my favorite
heartbreaking to see Ford going down the drain in this way, although I wasn't around for the true legends (RS200, Sierra Cosworth, Escort Cosworth) I still miss the performance cars, and I'll definitely be wanting something like a Puma as a first car
Could you do another with the full song?

funny how the brits would love our svt's and we would love their rs's
really sad to see another brand fall from a motorsports perspective (i understand that the fiesta and focus exist but they just are not the same level as cars like the rs2000)
Ford EU is still cool today, the st fiesta, rs focus and now new st puma. They still are generally more sporty than most other car makers in similar segments like Mazda or Honda killing of almost all of their lines of sport orientated cars. Still I wont forgive ford for banishing the mondo without an st version.
