    50% increase in torsional rigidity is huge.

      Agreed! it's really astounding for the slight weight gain they navigated, even with a lot of other features added in!

      one of the best equipped car for its weight i must say. And in these day and age, price is really not that bad for what you get. Agreed!

    Hey REVlogue. Great video. I have a blue 2017 Subaru BRZ. Love it to pieces but the new one won't be coming to the Middle East where I live which is such a shame. Keep up the good work with the videos. Your knowledge and passion for the BRZ stand out.

      Thank you for the kind words! I wonder if it's emission related why they didn't launch anywhere else.. or maybe they didn't sell as many in certain markets.
      Hopefully you'll get the GR86? Let's see :)

    Overall I’m pleased that Subaru/Toyota chose to make an incremental improvement on the existing format. While I personally would be in the market for a GT, I would want give this car a drive first.

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  Před 3 lety +1

      It's a good car, but you really have to push it to the limits to get joy out of it :) I would say where you test drive would be really important.

    They did widen the track in the rear... if you look above the rear wheels the little wings are there because rear wheels can't stick out more than the body

    1 percent of the population seems small, but for 2022, BRZ/GR86 could be the only budget solution. My current K20C2/6MT is a massive deal for manual drivers & weekend racers, however Honda has currently stopped production for manual transmission. If priced right, every single drivers who can shift in their sleep is going to want Toyota/Subaru mutt.

    Im not a fan of the digital gauges either. Prefer being able to see the exact speed im going and overall enjoy watching the needles go up and down haha. They also got rid of the red intake manifold which to me gave it that extra sporty look when under the hood...
    I hope i can at least afford an earlier model once this releases to consumers. Test drove a 2019 model and enjoyed it much. I do like the performance upgrade though. Its plentiful.
    Just waiting on the 2022 86 reveal! Cheers everyone😎👍

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  Před 3 lety +1

      Red intake mani was so STI, I painted my scale model that color even before they made the decision :) having said that, I think the first gen facelift is probably going to be a great value soon!

    I'm curious about the new engine's feel and sound, and appreciate the modest bump in horsepower. Keeping the car's weight down is appreciated. All in all this looks like a nice refresh and I will be watching it as a possible replacement for my GTI.

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  Před 3 lety

      GTI is super cool, but the BRZ is a classic rear wheel drive fun for sure :) not interested in the new GTI or the Golf R coming? :)

    • @aroundomaha
      @aroundomaha Před 3 lety

      @@REVlogue I keep revisiting attainable rwd drivers cars. Love the GTI but also like a normally aspirated car. Who knows I might wind up with an NC Miata, but the BRZ is more practical.

  • @80s_Boombox_Collector
    @80s_Boombox_Collector Před 3 lety

    The power bump is nice, but what this car really needs is more sound insulation, better seats with lumbar support, and a taller 6th gear. The 1st gen does 4K rpm at only 86 mph, which gets tiring on long highway trips. It just doesn't work as your only car, unless maybe you're still in your 20s and can tolerate it.

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  Před 3 lety

      I agree. If I'm really honest, I'd probably get something like a 4 series if I go to the track less than 5 times a year to get better daily comfort. This is one of the reasons why I ended up going for two cars. My fun car is the Honda S2000 (no compromise) and I plan on purchasing a wagon soon :)

      @@REVlogue That's a good choice to make. I personally don't have a garage right now, so an S2K would probably get stolen or vandalized, lol.

    that touchscreen headunit? yeah that's going away when i get the car. replace it with an analog radio.
    if there's an option for an analog gauge i'd go with that as well

    I hate how everyone feels the need to install ipads around the interior of the car - when gauges go all digital , stop this stupid trend!! Analog doesn't have latency or lag. If I'm going 50 , i want to know I'm going 50. Not 52, 51, 53.. every second

    • @REVlogue

    Not a fan of digital dashes rather have analog gauges as well as all those electronic nannies. Like exterior design. Used to be a big supporter of subarus boxer, but maybe another engine variant's time has come.

      I'd rly like to give you an answer, but I cannot without having driven the new car... :( Normally I don't buy the very first launch models as they are still working out the kinks. If you're not in a rush, I would suggest waiting.

    I currently have the 2015 BRZ and wanted the Hakone; however, I like what's under the hood of this gen. This gen being able to hit peak torque much earlier is quite nice. I genuinely do not like this design. I am hoping Seibon manufactures a lot of options so I can rip off this rear end and put something else on it, and change the taillights, maybe a few other parts... I suppose I can hope the GR86 has a different aesthetic. The interior of the 2022 just looks generic and certainly does not appeal to me either. And why does it look like they mounted a hair dryer next to the steering wheel. I think I'm being fussy, but I would have been a happy camper if they would have just kept the original body with the increased chassis rigidity and the improved features under the hood. I really like your perspective of the car and I look forward to the continued updates.

    REVVlogue, you are a good reviewer, BUT, GLAD I BOUGHT MY 2020tS! This one sucks, sorry. I don't give a damn about a few more HP's like all the fools. But then again, I don't beat the piss out of the engine like most. I only care about looks, and this one doesn't have it. Looks like another cookie cutter small sports car.
