    what do you all think of the new 2022 BRZ / Toyota GR 86? Would you take this version, or buy the 1st gen and add a forced induction of your choice? If none of those are your choice, what did you go with? Let me know in the comments down below :)

    Great review with great comparisons! This seems more like an actual review rather than an advertisement stating nothing but the pros like most other ‘22 BRZ reviews.

    2022 GR 86, add Brembo breaks, adjust the camber just a bit to get rid of the slight understeer. Eventually a supercharger and exhaust. But you can’t go wrong with leaving it bone stock

      My first car was a bugeye WRX and the second BRZ 😄 this one is a bit more unpleasant, but rly I think adding direct injection doesn't help in this department.. thanks for checking out the review!

      Hey thanks for the shout out! The BRZ is my friends car but you may see me with some other S2000s hanging out over there :) hopefully CGV stays afloat, I love that place

    As a car enthusiast I’m glad BRZ/86 is available and attainable. The exterior looks excellent but the interior - had to save $ somewhere.

      Can't get everything in this price nowadays for sure 😭 hopefully this platform and some upcoming vehicles like the new Nissan Z keeps the enthusiasts buying manual RWD gas cars for a bit longer.

    As a 1st gen owner, I don't know if I will ever add Fi. I got mine in 2021 before the shortage for $12k with 40,000 miles, summers on wide rims plus winters on the stock rims and Tein coilovers. I have driven low power sportscars for over 20 years and sold cars that have 300 or 400+ hp. I don't absolutely need the extra power. Eventually I will go the OFT/header route. If I didn't have cash, I could have leased a new one. For young people who don't pay rent, that's awfully tempting. Paying over MSRP is mistake IMO. As soon as manufacturers have the capacity, they will overproduce cars again. 1st gen 86s will decrease in price, as they should. At that point, a clean 100k car will start seeing backyard turbos and selling for $10k. Then the choice for a reliable $30k gen2 or a sketchy backyard ebay turbo gen1 will become much more difficult. If speed is your goal, you should wait for the new Z. It's going to be an absolute monster.

      Clean examples of any fun used JDMs seems like a challenge to find these days... But yes agreed as I said in the video, just a good header and a tune wakes up the car quite a bit! I was rly happy with my Jackson kit, but also understand it's not a must have. Thanks for checking out the video!

    I have a 2022 BRZ 6MT, I've had it for nearly 5 months, still absolutely love it. I prefer NA engines so didn't want to add forced induction to a 1st gen. I also like the fact it has the Toyota D-4S intake system (as long as it proves to be reliable). I test drove a 2017 BRZ w/ sports package, the torque dip was really bad. Also drove a 2021 Mazda3T but no manual trans, also it felt too FWD biased.

    Thoughtful review - thanks. One thing I don’t agree on is the engine speaker - I’m not sure why anyone would want a completely artificial (game-like) sound being broadcast in the cabin. Found it genuinely annoying when I test drove the ‘22. :/

      @@REVlogue They made the right call! :) it’s almost like Toyobaru used the same sound algorithm from the supra - not a trace of a flat four in the sample used.

    • @alexandram9477
      @alexandram9477 Před 2 lety

      I tried with and without, ended up going back to active sound - I did a track day and with a helmet on it was not easy to hear engine, plus it only activates above 4K and it's not completely fake sounding, it's more 'enhanced'.

    • @telemaster
      @telemaster Před 2 lety

      @@alexandram9477 Fair enough with the helmet, but there’s nothing natural or real about the sample. They didn’t use a microphone or piezo sensor in the engine bay - the ecu simply matches the revs to a pre-calculated wav (much like in the four cylinder Mustang) czcams.com/video/_Kpq9rxDyPA/video.html

  • @MooseTvGaming
    @MooseTvGaming Před 2 lety

    When you talk ab just buying a used BRZ and adding a supercharger over buying a new brz is a hard question. The reason why its not is because this engine has proven to have wayy more peak power. Tuners in a video made by Donut media called "Subarus New Boxer engine" show that in a Subaru ascent Suv with the same FA24 but just with a turbo(new WRX platform) the car was able to make 500whp on a dyno with 50 passes done with just bolt ons and a tune.

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  Před 2 lety

      more potential for sure, I was just thinking dollar per dollar you can prob get the 1.5 gen and FI it yourself if all you're looking for is more power that is all. Just a good header (like the ACE header) and a tune wakes up the car quite a bit actually, but not everyone wants to fiddle with emission related items... thanks for checking out the video!

  • @pg-kv2bx

    Those type of turning stocks suck. Have it on my Lexus. You get used to it but it’s a recurring annoyance.

    have never fallen in love with my 19 BRZ. Actually have preferred older bimmers I've had imo they had more character. i find it a bit soulless. I've always thought i sit about half an inch too high as well. Never driven an S2K. Do you sit lower in those?

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  Před 2 lety

      Haha no chance. I had to modify the car quite a bit to sit low (aftermarket seats, rails) and the steering wheel being fixed is no bueno. The engine tho, that's where I feel like the S2000 has so much more character. I'm a big fan of the E46 M3 and have owned F30 335i.

    • @REVlogue
      @REVlogue  Před 2 lety

      I have no idea why (maybe it's the wheelbase) the M2 comp drives far better than the M3C. And if I remember correctly I think the weight is negligible? M2 comp definitely feels more like a drivers car with way more tactile steering feel.

      @i-barg Před 2 lety

      @@REVlogue Thanks! I currently have a s2k for the track that I am debating selling and getting either a GR86 or M2C.... And I been going back and forth on which
      GR86: Cheaper and I will likely not be to bother buy any abuse / dings vs a more expensive car.... Lighter and consumables would be cheaper, especially if tracked
      M2C: More expensive... but nicer all around and more usable back seats..... more power ... but also much heavier...
