Hello I am a Receptionist in a firm in Michigan. I have been with my Bankruptcy & Litigation firm for 4 1/2 yrs. I worked as a secretary in a non profit organization where one of the higher ups recommended me for a friends firm. I recently completed a Legal Secretary certificate course, and I'm learning hands on from the other secretaries. You definitely need tough skin, and be proactive like she explained. Take every opportunity to learn, and they will take notice. Great video!!! Thanks.

Your bf is 100% correct about office jobs at your university! I worked at my university’s cashiers office for 2.5 years, they hired me on full time as a collections specialist after I graduated (I majored in criminology) and I just interviewed with the DA’s office and got a job offer for a legal assistant position yesterday! That kind of experience is so valuable even if it’s not directly in your field!

Thanks for this video, I was just getting discouraged after applying for 5-10 jobs after graduating.. I was like "what? I don't have this much experience, I might as well not apply" but now I will!

Hi! I came across your channel today! I have never worked as a Legal assistant and actually have my second interview Monday. I am required to write a writing sample. I have no idea what direction to head in with my paper. Any advice on how long it should be and what topics to cover?😅

Great Video! I’ve been following along all your videos. Quick question after applying to firms as a assistant how long is the process usually to get call back about a interview.

Thank you, I appreciate it! It varies. In my experience, I've gotten call backs as early as the next day. Some have offered me the position on the spot, and others have ghosted me. I would say if you do not hear back within a week, I would reach out and ask for an update. Unfortunately, some firms do not notify you whether you got the job, but it does not hurt to reach out at least once just to make sure. Also, when you're interviewing with the firms, make sure to ask them when you should expect to hear back, that way you're not in the dark. Hope this helps!

Do you have to have a college Degree to work at a law firm asking a Legal Secretary or legal Assistant.

    • @redlipsteph6484

Hello! I have a college degree, but I'm not sure if it's a requirement for all law firms. I would check the job posting and see if they require a college degree. I know for some law firms, if you have paralegal certificate that may be sufficient. For my employer, it was required to have a college degree.

I'm call some law firm tomorrow and ask if they tell me I have to gone to college or I have to have experience I'm just gone stop and looking in to something else.

If you never had experience ask a legal Assistant and you won't to because a legal Assistant with no experience or no college degree can you steel reply.

I'm also a UCLA alumni, can I still use Handshake?

You can still access handshake after 1 yr of graduating. After that, I believe they deactivate your account.
