I've been cheated on in more than one way, more than once. 1st time, I got back together with a bf who was already dating someone else and decided to date us both, I briefly dated someone who hadn't "properly broken up" with his gf, and my husband cheated more than once, one of the being a mutual friend whom didn't want to stay friends with me when I didn't leave him.
My husband left me for my best friend that lived two doors away from me. She’s been my best friend for over 10 years we had raised our kids together and had every holiday together. What did I do? Signed my divorce papers with her daughter in my lap. Moved back home with my boys to start a wonderful life, met and married a wonderful man and have had just A wonderful life. What to do in that situation? the best revenge if they don’t leave first is just to leave and go live your life because living a good life is the best revenge. PS karma is real.

Emma bagged Greg Wise - the hottest guy at the time - literally a pinnacle of masculinity and kindness - we did not know it was humanly possible to exist in a man. She is much happier with Greg then she ever was with her ex.

Glad Emma found a great husband. I had the same experience. Broken by my first husband, met my late husband at work. We fell in love, had 3 great kids, and stayed in love for 20 years until his death from a congenital heart problem.

I cry along with her every time I see that scene. Performance was so raw. I told my fiance that if he ever felt tempted to cheat, I wanted him to come to me and tell me. The desire to cheat, to me, indicates that the person is not getting what they want out of the marriage. If that's the case, then the marriage needs to be worked on. Of course, sometimes there is nothing that can be done, but I think many marriages could be saved if the two people would just work together and get therapy.
She is one of the most admired, iconic, female actor/director/writers of our time. She was WAY too good for Kenny. His loss.

The scene in Sense and Sensibility where Hugh Grant declares his love is so touching and funny and it looks like she let go of something else in that scene- her despair. I LOVE that movie and the whole cast.

The connection between Greg and Emma on S&S was so strong even when they acted together for a few seconds. When I heard they married I wasn’t surprised.
I still enjoy seeing Emma. Wished I saw more of Wise. And Branagh… His portrayal of Poirot was a travesty.

I remember watching Sense and Sensibility in the theaters and when Greg Wise( Willoughby) was shown up close in the scene where he pulls the Shakespeare sonnets out of his coat. His gorgeous grown eyes!!! The mostly female audience gasped in unison! I don’t follow celebrities closely and no idea of Emma Thomason’s heartbreak but it makes me happy that she found love on the set of one of my favorite movies.

Three gifted artists. A gift for us all. So beautiful to see them endure blows and use the “mud” to grow lotus flowers. Emma has rejoiced my soul many a time, God bless her. Carter was fun in Shaw’s CHOCOLATE SOLDIER and fabulous in THE CROWN. Kenneth in HENRY V “we happy few” opened Shakespeare to me. In a century of slaughter these artists fed the human race good food, powerful ideas, moments of joy that they honed through long years of hard labor.

I was in my early 20’s many years ago and was trying out online dating. I was contacted by a married man with children who was point-blank seeking a mistress. I firmly advised him that this was abhorrent and to not pursue the mistress any further. If he is so dissatisfied he should do the respectful thing and either work it out with his wife or divorce her as seeking a mistress wasn’t fair to her. I also pointed out that, as a child of divorce myself, his children would eventually learn the truth and not respect him for it. He seemed to see the logic in this and apologized for contacting me online. I have no idea if he took this advice to heart and do the right thing by his family, but I pray he did and I hope they are well and happy.

As a late teen when this came out, I instantly became a huge fan of Emma's
I remember first seeing this in the theater, and finding that her emotional scenes just *kept getting deeper, better.* Despite my thinking she had no more perfection left to give that role (nearing the end of the movie) she smashed me over the head with it. I tried to hide it, but during the present reveal scene monolog(*), she literally made me need to stifle sobs.
I don't cry at the movies, guys.
What a brilliant way to fight back against negative emotions just doing you in; Of someone made you cry, take back that power and inject it straight into an amazingly beautiful work of art (Acting).

Karma strikes! Ken’s career kinda flopped while Emma shined. As for Helena’s, she had to find someone who would help raise her career. Ken just wasn’t helping. She received her Karma when her husband, Tim, left her for a younger woman. When it comes to love, be a good person and don’t be an assh*le.

Back in the day, I admired Ken greatly, but have basically hated him since he destroyed the marriage. Thank goodness Greg Wise showed up in Emma's life. He is a lovely guy, a gentleman who is able to appreciate Emma's manifold talents. As for Branaugh, he's neither a nice guy nor a gentleman. He's an idiot, imo! And his career never recovered! I think when you're so so betrayed by somone who told you every day how much they love you and have the same interests and if you ever left them they would kill themselves... So you genuinely never see the betrayal coming and when it does you can't believe it because how could someone say all these things and be everything you ever wanted and go on to hurt you so unbreably deeply....
And to do it with people you warned them about, people that are so manipulative but are meant to be the most caring...
Its the most painful thing a human can do to another... Its the betrayal and heart pain...

The first time I saw Emma Thompson and Kenneth Brannagh was in a TV series (on PBS here) called "Thompson." It was absolutely lovely & intelligent comedy, and I still have a video tape (!) with several half-hour episodes. Both sparkled and gave outstanding performances. I wish I could find "Thompson" on CZcams. In a way, I'm glad they'd split up, because I suspected that Emma Thompson was casting an unintended shadow on her husband's talents. Separately and together they are still great actors, screenwriters and directors, and I adore both of them. I guess the segment above is a bit TMI for me. Thanks anyway.

It is rather tiresome as frankly 6 years for marriage and at their age at the time was not that big of a deal. It was short. Of course it must have pissed them off that they became so successful and really needed to move on from each other versus cling to each other. But that happens when peoples careers change people break up as they embrace the new life. It is of course disgusting and creepy but it happens all the time. People are afraid of death and growing old with the same ball and chain.
