  • In this video I show how/where you can mount an SSD in a case that wasn't originally designed for SSD's.

    Another option is to get a cheap ~5 dollar 3.5in SSD mounting bracket, then you can slide your SSD into your 3.5in mounting slots just like an old floppy drive or hard disk.

    thx, everything i needed to know: no moving parts + use this model screw. 😊

    The mount was decent but I didn't like how much tension was on that cable. I'd either go with your earlier suggestion of folding down the tabs in the upper drive bay (then securing it in there with at least one screw), or simply cable tie it inside the upper bay.

      I agree. Some of the data and power cables can be tight. I have enough extra SATA cables sitting around so I usually find one long enough.

      Sorry to take to long to respond. I don't always see people's comments because of how CZcams reports them. But I'm glad to hear it helped. I get confused on some of these designs as well because they don't say anything in the "manual". I only realized the holes were there after I was getting ready to drill the holes myself!

    I used paper tapes is that okay??

    • @fishpotpete
      @fishpotpete  Před 5 měsíci

      You are probably okay doing that. But it might leave a nasty residue when you try to remove it later. If you have "painters tape", that's meant to be removed, it should be a cleaner removal. If you don't think you'll ever remove it, then paper tape is fine - it just might not stick as long as other methods... Hope that answers your question - If not, please let me know! thanks 🙂

    Would you suggest using tape? Would it cause any problems or fire or overheating

    • @fishpotpete
      @fishpotpete  Před rokem

      Tape would probably work fine. I've never noticed a SSD getting all that hot. But to be safe, use a couple of thin strips to leave as much of the drive's surface exposed. You can also use double sided tape. I've also used Velco on some projects. The SSDs are so light, you could even use a wad of gum 🙂

    Plz reply, can stick the SSD with double tape on wall of the cabinate, because my case don't have anything to rest the SSD on

    • @fishpotpete
      @fishpotpete  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes you can. If you use Velcro tape, it might be easier to take the SSD off later. But double sided tape would work fine! Thanks for asking 😊

      Too often the manufacturers leave it up to us to figure it out on our own! Thanks for the comment!
