ABOUT US:
Jupiter² was built in the Philippines by an Australian designer for Jamie. During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time.
Hopefully some inspiration to "Quit Job and Go Sailing".

Jupiter² looks really sharp with that new bottom paint. I like it much better than the red!
Have you ever thought of putting some sort of lining in the anchor locker? One, for sound as the chain comes back in and Two, for protection from contact between the different metals? I am sure it isn't as noisy in the water but still...
You're on to it Marcel... We do have a rubber mat... Just didn't make into the vid.
Jupiter2 looks brand new. Amazing job guys! Stay safe out there.
Scrubs up nice.. Tks Sander
You're a good man Jamie, and skilled too.
You are very kind Jasmine. Cheers
Great job Jamie-Jupiter looks awesome!!
Amazing what a bit of love and care can do.... Cheers Mike
Good to hear you're doing that inner-states waterway trip. I did it myself on a Jim Brown Searunner 38, back when they'd just opened the brand-new Tenn-Tom Waterway. Back then, they weren't too used to boats like yours & mine that looked more like spaceships than boats! You should have a nice adventure. Try to time your day runs such that you find secure moorings at or before sundown (remember that night-fall is quite sudden in hilly areas) and if you must anchor for the night, choose wide spots so barge traffic can give you a wide berth! Shallow is your Friend because those barges draw a lot and they run as fast as they can get away with! Sometimes, I would likely ground my boat and tie her up to a tree or two.
Good advice thanks Carl... We did enjoy the change of scene on the brown waters.
Great job. Let's do it again in a few years....later than sooner. .. Cheers to both of you ..
Yeah hopefully at least 2 yrs.. Tks Laurie
Nice job getting all the tasks taken care of!! Way to go Jupiter crew!!
Tk TW... Was a busy week.
@@SailingLifeonJupiter yeah looks like it! Nice job!
Very exciting, good job you 2.
Tks Walter... Felt good to have a clean boat for once.
Jupiter 2 is really looking great 👍
Scrubs up OK, hey Ian.
Superrr i learn a lot from you !!👍👍
Awesome tks Alfred
She looks beautiful, looking forward to your next upload
Cheers GB
Loving the new battleship Gray/ blue look.
Yeah Latitude, we like it
Heeee Love The Cutless bearing verry Ingenious
Simple hey Brian...
@@SailingLifeonJupiter I used the Volvo one only 27o NZ dollars over here , Been in 5 years .Bloody hot those heaters ha good on you for showing the UP side of working in the yard , Its all about the angle of the tangle , Loved it .
Best looking boat on CZcams
Cheers Russ
Cheers Russ
The boat looks great. Love the colour scheme.
Tks Twirl
You have an awesome boat !
Tks for that!
that small hole in the middle of the strut should be where a set screw goes to hold the bearing. You normally use a small drill bit and just put a small dimple in the shell to allow the set screw to hold it in place and to keep it from turning
That sounds fair Steve, ‘cept we don’t want dissimilar metals under there….so glue does the job
Привет,класс.
👍🏻☺️
When I have a problem, I am just going to hire you to do the work you make it all look so easy . Lol
👍🏻👍🏻

We cut out all the shouting and swearing Mike...
@@SailingLifeonJupiter 🤣 lmao
gotta really get that shaft in that hole.
Every man’s goal
That's a good boat.
Cheers Alex
Jamie and Princess...for what it is worth we have made up plastic (old credit card or similar) guages to measure the height of the engine foot above the engine bed...
In other words once the engine / coupling / shaft / bearings are all aligned the 4 guages (1 for each engine mount, per engine) are a record of the height adjustment on the mounts.
It is an EASY way to check if the mounts are slowly collapsing over time, as they are inclined to do, and to reset the engine to perfect alignment without having to remove shaft or coupling and mate up the flanges.
We also outline the perimeter of the mounts with permanent marker and fill any slotted mount holes with epoxy filler in case there is any lateral movement.
Sounds like good ideas Mike...thanks
Looking nice, id much rather change the shaft seals out of the water now rather than later on when wet
Take Dazztee
You allowed a little down time Captain so a little sleep in is acceptable 😜👍
Tks mate.
With a aluminum boat you shouldn't need any thru-hull fittings. Why don't they weld threaded aluminum bungs into the hull so there is no chance of leaking.
I extend.the. life of my chain by 1 I have a sacrificeal anode directly after the anchor. 2 I rinse of the chain with fresh water once it is in the chain well
Sounds like good ideas Bruce
Love the videos. Just wanted to ask, any chance there are set screws that hold the cutlass bearing tight on the outside of the tube?
Good question.. There are holes there... But no... We don't want dissimilar metals there...
But I should have drilled out those small holes and made sure new glue bonded in there..
Same here. I’ve never seen a cutlass put in with glue. They normally just have a bolt? Every day is a school day
👍
Cheers William
Perhaps use bbq tongs when rubbing on the lanolin
Or... Take a little more care!...hehe cheers Peter
👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers Stephan
Some constructive criticism! Watch a few channels where they are doing boat work. Yes Parley and Wynn's and Teal and his family........ Although they are 'working' on their vessels' they are enthusiastic to a degree. You make working on your vessel look more like a chore! Just a suggestion....
Sorry to disappoint Jim... But in the middle of summer this really IS a chore! Think of it as authentic.
Striking hull design-I Like! How long is she?
48ft Steve…yeah we love the design
hello once more..... The angle was off because you had the shaft resting on that plastic step!
Yep...i see that now... But from where I was sitting it looked good. Cheers Jim
@@SailingLifeonJupiter extra set of eyes and spaking of eyes and heat.... ii spent a couple of summers in Urbil where the day temperature was 51 celcius>>>> :)?
Boat Work is Never Finished .
NEVER….cheers Jimmy
Shouldn't the anchor chain compartment have something to prevent the steel chain from touching the aluminum?
You are correct Lucas… I hadn’t put the rubber mat back in when I shot this clip
As mantioned by others there should be a set screwin that Pbracket may be even two; Is it possible you have an mperial 1" shaft than a 25mm or vice versa hence the necessity of glueing . Fixing the set screws FIRST stops it shifting in the bracket. I've used a socke two large washers and a long bolt to press in, - and remove - these cutless bearings in Pbrackets.Very much enjoy your channel. Best regards to you both.
Tks Ian…nah, us ally boats like to avoid dissimilar metals under water…so glue does the job.
Jamie, Did Tim Mumby make your dinghy as well? What is the width between your hulls in the back? I'm asking because I was wondering what the largest dinghy you can fit.
3.4m would be the biggest inflatable Robert. Yep one of Tim's craftsman built ours.
@@SailingLifeonJupiter Thank you!
Hope you were treated well while being in my around.
Sure Chilly... we were welcomed every where we went!..
@@SailingLifeonJupiter glad to know.
What a boat, love it. Are you in the Gulf of Mexico yet ?
Been and gone JL... Making our way to Panama.
@@SailingLifeonJupiter plukky alert
Hehe…we keep our distance….he seems to attract lightning!
PropSpeed is the best though, no other brand beats it as of now and i would stick with Propspeed if i was you.
I've never tried it.. Not within our budget... So far so good on with the lanolin!
@@SailingLifeonJupiter For those size folding props you would get 2 maybe 3 applications of PS , Just a thought .
The boat is looking ship shape.
Scrubs up OK, hey Joe.
@@SailingLifeonJupiter Yes indeed !
Take a day and explore 🇨🇦🏴☠️🏁🎼⚖🎤🇨🇦
Wish we could have Mac.
I personally would not go outside the harbour with those plastic skin fittings and seacocks.
That's the deal with metal boats tho Nick...everything is a compromise with boats. Cheers
If they are quality composites they are reinforced with glass or other fibers like kevlar, basalt or carbon. So most of the time they are as strong as metal and less prone to snapping or Corrosion.
Try wiping lanolin on your chain its non harmful and will give added protection to your lightly rusty chain..
You must a little bit promote the Philippines, and you will have at least, millions of subscribers. Let your wife tell in Tagalog, a video, how nice her life had turned while sailing with you.
Haha.. Tks for the advice... But this life is not desirable for Filipinas...it is akin to being "fisherman"
