It takes a jarring lack of self-awareness to talk this much shit to someone when you're like 1-11 against them.

I think you need to have this type of self-awareness if you want to beat someone like Jakob.

Josh is correct here. Ingebrigtsen lacks acceleration for a 15 guy. He doesn't have the 800 speed. Put Jakob up against someone like Coe in a paced race and JI wins 9 times out of 10. In a championship it's likely to be a massacre because no medal contender is going to lead him out and he can get burned over the last 200/300 as we saw in the last two WCs. I don't think Jakob will win in Paris but probably his best hope is someone like Stewie McSweyn taking the race over the first 2.5 laps.
The reality is that Jakob is a 3k/5k runner in the "wrong" event, which he has pretty much conceded himself. He is just so talented he can still run 3:27 and win major medals. The same facts that count against him in the 15 would help him do the 5k/10k double in Paris if he were more sensible.

@@malehumanperson7901 I think you're saying that because that's what you want to believe. He said he was ill both times and I think it's most probably true, because his times were slower and everything else he's run outside of those two races have been stellar.

I agree that it largely comes down to him wanting to be the guy who could win everything from 1500 to 10k. He needs to focus on more 800 type training if he wants to be unbeatable in the last 400. When racing guys who train specifically for shorter distances, he has a major disadvantage, especially as the only one who can run at a pace necessary for to burn the rest is him. If he sets the pace himself, he makes it easy for others to follow - like Nuguse at the end of the season.

even if he was ill, everything @malehumanperson7901 said is true. He's not a pure 1500m runner and I think he could later destroy everyone on 5000m /10000m. He's already been Olympic champion on 1500m he should now focuse on becoming olympic/world champ on all others distances steeple chase + 5000m +100000m. It would be an awesome achievement@@c0ntr1but10n

Jealousy is tough...everybody knows Jakob is the better runner of these two, and honestly Nuguse is his closest competitor, not this guy. Many players dunked on Michael Jordan throughout his career, but he`s the one we remember.

It isn’t jealousy. It’s resentment at Jacob’s arrogance. That show-boating in the semis came back to haunt him. Be humble, show some respect - that’s what I’d say to him.

This was a really interesting podcast, but i don't agree with the comments about paced races and Ingebrigtsen. The comments about Cheryot pacing Jacob in 2021 are not just misplaced. it's factually incorrect, and I would suggest Kerr rewatches that race again. I dont think Kerr comes across well, and his dismissal of the 5K as an unpopular race and actually quite demoralising. My son, who is 12, loves Kerr, and if he heard the comments that 5K is not popular, it is so disrespectful. Honesy, change your sttitude and get over yourself. Not helpful at all when young athletes are trying find their distance. Self limiting attitudes like this are harmful and i hope kerr doesnt coach kids until he reflects and changes his attitudes.

Replace the name Cheryiot with McSweyn and Kerr's comments make a lot of sense.
