I love this car & makes me want to go drive haha. Oh no my favorite feature! The SEATS! Only car I’ve seen with the black & red & embroidering. The front seats make it hard to find other car seats even compare in my opinion
They are a very comfortable ride, for sure!
I've had fords hondas Toyotas and a Audi now but Altima has been the most comfortable car I've had

Love my 06 3.5 altima, 6spd an it's quick an still fast as hell!!
A couple of minor quips - the 05-06 came with 175 horsepower and 180 torque (you flip those numbers in your review) in the 2.5, and they did offer a v6 model since 2002 (SE and SL) that came with a 3.5 L engine and 250 (02-04) to 255 (05-06) horsepower. The SE-R bumped that up to 260 horsepower along with extra torque, and a hefty increase in price ($23-26k for SE / SL --> $30K+ for SE-R) and the other goodies your review. 😄
I always wanted one when I couldn't afford it and didn't want one (a few years later when they were only in the used market) when I could. So I ended up with an '09 Altima coupe 3.5 SE V6. 270hp standard for the V6 models (07 onward) heh.
Thank you for the details!

Bought my SE-R new in 2005 still have it 117K on the miles love it still!!
I just bought an adult owned one for $4500. 135k miles. Prestige condition. If I fix the timing chain that’s barely showing it’s signs, it’ll run another solid 100k!
@@bobespnza-la7030 I had the timing chains (3) replaced at 96ish thousand and guides. Luckily Nissan paid for part of the repairs and I had the whole car repainted as well since the paint was starting to go. I probably will not get rid of it for a long time. Glad you found one in good condition and not used up!!
@@mknucarman he was an elderly man. he saw it at the Long Beach convention center in 2005 and purchased it. he has rebuilt the transmission, high pressure hose, a/c hose, catalytic converter, and some other stuff but the timing chain. I’m not sure if I should replace the timing chains. Reason being, I’ll have to take it somewhere I am definitely not that advanced to replace. Thoughts?
@@bobespnza-la7030 the reason mine were done is that I had a whining noise and thought it was the Trans again ( replaced under warranty at 61000 miles ( I had a nissan extended warranty). If yours has a whining it’s probably the chain guides which are Teflon coated. The mechanic at the dealer told me they average about 100K on the guides. The total for changing out all of it was about 2500.00 at the time but nissan paid for all the parts and my part was about 1000.00 only because the warranty ran out by time and not miles and they did that because it was my 5th nissan I had purchased over the years. I just turned 60 and love the car
@@mknucarman I wonder how that whining noise sounds like, I haven’t heard it unless I’m being deaf lol. I’ll call the dealer it was purchased at to see if there’s anything they can do to help me! I would love a discount on it too. I’m sure the car will run way better with updated timing chain parts in it. It’s such a good car overall.
Bring back the ser altima 2020 lol

I have one of these, 6spd. 170K miles, pretty much every bolt on, runs great. Only major repairs: wheel bearings (2X), and a half shaft.
I burn about half a quart of oil every 3K miles using amsoil, and the car sucks in the snow without good winter tires (doesn't have this gen Maxima's LSD, though you could swap...).
I heard, but I dunno for sure, that the autos had some issues.
6 speed is always the way to go!
@@autologic3163 I have a 2007 6sp Altima v6 with some bolt ons but I also just bought a 2005 se-r automatic for $1,000. I think the solenoid is going bad but oh well I might just fix it and keep that one as well

Amazing review. I’m 15 turning 16 in January, do you think I should get one of these? It’s perfect in my opinion. It’s fun, 4 doors, manual, front wheel drive ( which is good cuz I live in Canada ), it’s reliable, decent mpg.
Thanks for the comment and feedback! I would definitely suggest one of these, especially for a first car. They’re very reliable, fun and have a great personality and aesthetic. 👍🏻
im in canada and have one for sale if interested let me know. Looks identical to the one hes reviewing plus mine is an auto too.
Im 18 and got one as my first car. It's awesome! Fast as fuck too. I've destroyed all the v6 mustangs I've raced. Mine has a few mods tho
william Strachan I had one and absolutely loved it, sadly I had never ending transmission issues and a year and 5 thousand dollars later it was still messed up so I had to get rid of it. Awesome car but a really shitty transmission just giving you a heads up.
A fellow young Canadian
@Kevin Desai There's one in Toronto for $2600 Auto/ 240000
I put 07 Maxima front brakes on my 05 SE Altima. They're the same as the SE-R
Nice!
I wonder how this car differs from the 3.5 SE right under it. I drive an 06 SE with Auto plus 5 speed slap stick.
EillonCross the ser comes with 10 hp more then the se, and looks way better. It also comes with the manual 6 speed transmission, forged wheels, nice ser seats and Gage's
@@bigjohny702 The looks way better is a meh statement. virtually from the outside it is an identical looking car to the 3.5 SE body wise aside from the front bumper. I like the 3.5 SE wheels better. I do like the SER seats better, but the gauges are as useless as the 350z's gauges to the non racer. 6 speed tran is a plus also. but I feel that both V6 models Nissan should have used the same mold for the hood as the 4-cyl models. reason for this is because all of the nice looking after market head lights are only for the 2.5L models. you can put them on a 3.5 SE or an SER but you have to change the hood to a 2.5 S hood to fit them on. Also why didn't this version of the car not come with the Brembo brakes like the 350Z?
EillonCross it came with upgraded brakes.
They're the same car with a few styling differences. Set aside the '10' hp. The SE is a sweet ride.

The only generation altima that ilike and will keep :)
They seriously are very solid and fun cars!
Anyone know if the SE-R seats would fit into a 2009 nissan altima ?? I wanna put them in even though mine is just a regular altima but boy do I love those seats
Did you try ? Im also curious and might try myself
I have a 2006 SE R. Great car overall.
The last year before the horrendous CVT transmissions!
I have no idea how they went from this to a CVT!

So old altimas didn't have cvt?

Do they have good automatic transmissions ?
I’m wondering too. I found one for 4000$ with 150k miles looks good all stock . Auto transmission I’m wondering if it can last long if I change the fluid
Car-litosss it was good, I’ve tried it
I'm the original owner of a 2006 SER/auto . The car has 215K miles and the tranny still shifts well, but is a little slower on the manual shifts. I've had it regularly serviced at 30k intervals. At 180K I started fluid exchange only. No transmission flush as that can dislodge clutch debris in the system and lead to overall failure. More important is that the car you buy has had the timing chain serviced. The guides and chain should be replaced as this is a failure point and subject to a recall / court ordered settlement.
@@otterpopexpress6884 great transmission, I have a 2006 Nissan Altima se.. in mint condition, 260,000 km., Still runs strong

Shame. Best of luck with repair. Or sell to the next enthusiast. :)
You gotta give it to Nissan, nobody makes more boring looking cars than them.
