  • Do NOT Judge China before WATCHING THIS... 🇨🇳 Chongqing Opened Our Eyes - One of the best decisions we made on our travels was to visit China. If we were to believe the negative attention China receives, we would never have been able to travel this amazing country. Chongqing has opened our eyes being the largest city in the world with an interesting blend of old and new. We can not wait to explore more.

These tourists' towns in China with all these little shops actually plays a big role in China's poverty elimination efforts, as recent as a decade ago, these little towns, beautiful as they are, but being remote and hard to get to, had little way of getting people/investment in, or shipping their farm/crafts products out, people there were dirt poor, with little to no opportunities. To bring those people out of poverty, first road and other infrastructures were built, then the government worked with entrepreneur from wealthier regions to develop them into tourists' attractions, and local villagers were trained and hired to run small shops, or given assistance to start small business, income would supplement whatever they little make from farming, some of these tourist's attractions are more successful but some less so, but regardless, those remote areas are now more accessible, and people there now generally have more opportunities.

Unfortunately, regardless of what you show, and what others also show, it is not enough for arrogant politicians to continually spew venom against China, last on the list is the Republican representative from Iowa who uttered words that give the size of the nastiness and arrogance of the American political establishment, but fortunately there are also people like the mayor of San Francisco who go against the current of what is common American thinking! Americans and Europeans, I am talking about politicians, are frustrated, because they realise that all the lies they tell have no hold on people like you, and thank you🙏 for what you show, go to China to see for themselves whether all the nastiness of Western politicians is justified.

It is not government, it is media.
Under the system in China, media can't have the power they want to have, that is, controlling public information and controlling people's minds.
That is why no matter what China has done, according to *ALL the media* in the world, _including the media in China,_ *unanimously,* China is hell... to them, NOT the people.
You know why they hate Trump so much? because Trump jeopardized their power. You see that they can't control the minds of 50% of Americans.

The reason why these ancient places have escalators because of the elderly people/tourists. Most of them might have problem walking up the stairs. Some places have lifts for those on wheelchairs. Chinese is very attention to details when it comes to building infrastructures. They will always think a step ahead. I don’t know if duck/goose is famous in Chongqing but what I know is places like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hongkong, Macau you will find roasted duck/goose everywhere . You definitely will have lots of duck to eat, don’t worry if you guys will be visiting the South. Anyway enjoy yourselves in Chongqing. Beautiful city. Take care! Cheers!

OMG. I just love watching your vlog of your trip in China. Love your accent and the dynamic feel from your video. China is so big and has so many people yet very safe and peaceful. I guess it is hard to get bored in China. I am in the U.S. and get the same boring things every day and every where. Plus the politics and fightings and conflicts with other countries just make the U.S. less and less favorable and attractive. You guys are lucky to have all the free time and spend time in a country that is safe, fun and lots lots good food to eat and lots lots places to see and most of all safe and affordable for the quality of life. You guys are nice couple to travel with.

Hey some quick Chinese lesson! At 25:10 on the giant red plaque in gold lettering, 龍行龘龘, is a phrase that got chic just this year. Notice that each of the last two characters 龘 is made up of 3 (yes THREE!) of the first one 龍. 龍 means Chinese dragon, nowadays simplified as 龙, and 龘 means the way dragons move or fly but somehow this character never got simplified. 龍行龘龘, spelled as Long2 Xing2 Da2 Da2, literally means that 'dragons soar just like so', and in the Year of the Dragon, a generic goodwill wish that everything is looking up and works out as it should be. I consider myself a well-educated man, well in my forties and I never knew the word 龘. Until, China's central TV station popularized it at the New Year Gala, and overnight it became a hosehold phrase.
Is any of this useful? Hardly. But try it with your Chinese friends. Expect some jaws to be dropped.
By the way, X- in Chinese is pronounced like something between an S- and an Sh-, but never like a Z-.

瓷器口(Ci Qi Kou i.e. porcelain mouth) is a must-see in Chongqing. You two are quickly becoming China experts. Please note, these famous dishes we Chinese still eat largely because they are well-known not because they are extremely tasty. They were tasty before when we were poor and hardly had enough to eat, but not any more, and this was one of the reasons why you did not see any other customers in the same restaurant.
