  • In this slightly longer episode of So Mini Parks, we take a look at CJ Barrymore's in Michigan. This is a place that has come to blur the line between a small amusement park and a large family entertainment center. While they have the usual amenities of an FEC with free entry, affordable rides, arcades, go-karts, mini golf, and an SBF Visa spinner, they're also home to some impressive rides. Notably, they have a Pinfari looping coaster, a Soaring Eagle drop tower, and an elusive Saddle Sling. It all makes CJ Barrymore's way more than just a pit stop on my way to the airport.
Welcome to So Mini Parks! In this spin-off series to "So Many Parks," we take a look at smaller amusement settings that are not quite big enough for a full episode, but are still quite fun.

I live nearby, an RMC single rail coaster would fit nicely here! Also has outdoor bumper boats and new for 2024 30 foot tower go cart track for their 50th anniversary! Fun place for the kids!

Would love to see an RMC Raptor here. I’ve been following the progress of the new go-kart track, it looks fantastic! They really are up there as one of the best FECs, and I can’t wait to see what else they add in the future.

My home “park” I live right down the road. It’s a nice place to have and they keep adding new additions!

That’s awesome! I would love to have a place like CJ Barrymore’s just a short drive away.

I live right down card rd. Closer to 21 mile behind the chase bank in fairways west condos.

I am finally caught up on your videos! Phew! What a great season you have had! I made it to this park in 2019 but all the rides were closed by the time I arrived. I ended up having dinner inside before leaving. I had ridden that Pinfari looper in New Jersey many years ago so there isn't a need for me to ride it again. That place looks like a lot of fun. The closest thing I have done to one of those saddle rides was the S&S Absolutely Insane rides that used to operate at Cedar Point and Six Flags Magic Mountain. I had ridden Cedar Point's dozens of times and always felt nervous riding it because of how open it felt.

Glad to see you back in the comments, Sean 😀! Sucks about the closed rides, but since you already had the Pinfari, you weren't missing much. It really is kind of up there as one of the best FECs I've been to. I had always wanted to try one of those S&S rides. I had only seen the one at Great Adventure, but I never once saw it operating. It's a shame those rides went extinct (but also understandable). Now if they built a Saddle Sling that went as high as those rides, that would be ridiculous!

I live just down the road, I’ve only been there twice though. I go to cedar point and other parks many times per year

I was actually at Cedar Point a couple hours before I shot this video and swung by CJ Barrymore’s on the way to the airport. It’s certainly great for coaster enthusiasts having the two relatively close together.

“Wouldn’t call it fun but there are worse coasters out there”😂 haha I felt that one. Good description. If this park got 1 smooth coaster maybe a family rmc moose wild mouse thing they came out with that would make this park worth it in every way especially since it has so much more to offer than just rides. The golf dome, all the inside attractions, dining, it’s pretty great for what it is. And what it could be!

Lol, that was about the nicest of a review I could give it. I was really surprised by the place. If Fun Spot were to ever buy the place, it would fit their brand very well. Even the Loop Coaster is impressive for an FEC. For the amount of things to do in the space, and the price, it really is a great little place!

I fell in love with the Larson drop tower at Lakeside Amusement Park in Colorado. I love how it goes from ascension to drop with no pause. I find them the most intense. But I’ve never gone on a Soaring Eagle. If you’ve been on a Larson, how would they compare? Great Video.

Thanks a lot! Colorado may not have great roller coasters, but they do have three excellent drop towers! I'd say the Larson and Soaring Eagle towers are very comparable. They both have that gut rending drop and plummet like a rock. I think I do slightly prefer Soaring Eagle because of the very minimal and open lap belts, but I do like how the Larson towers drop without warning and their drops tend to feel a bit longer.
