It's cool seeing how things are already becoming somewhat Medieval. The legionnaires' armor is changing in design, becoming cheaper, the emperor is basically a king now, the will of the people matters less and less, cities are now defended by walls, making them a lot like castles, the empire is divided into tiny provinces, which will eventually become small kingdoms, dukedoms, and earldoms, and the plebeians have effectively become peasants and serfs. All that's left is for Rome to fall, and everything else will fall into place.

“For over a thousand years Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of triumph, a tumultuous parade. In the procession came trumpeteers, musicians and strange animals from conquered territories, together with carts laden with treasure and captured armaments. The conqueror rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children robed in white stood with him in the chariot or rode the trace horses. A slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory is fleeting.” -Gen. George S. Patton, Jr

While an early Crusade would be interesting, the 'Holy Land' was pretty firmly under Rome's control. Well, unless you're looking at the Crisis of the Third Century, where the Palmyrene Empire held it, which you could argue was an offshoot of Rome. So there wasn't any incentive to rile up the Christians to fight for the Empire. Well, unless you throw all Roman Pagans under the Bus (which made up a large part, if not the majority, of the Roman population) and declare an almost ISIS-like "War against all Infidels", but that wouldn't be viable.
Another option would be having Christianity recognized as *a* national religion of Rome alongside Roman and Greek Paganism, but that would only allow for more problems down the line.
There might be other options, but I can't think of them from the top of my head.

YOLOBOY6969 nonsense, Rome’s ideals were so ingrained in the world that it has arguably spread worldwide. While it’s banner may no longer fly, most of the modern nations for he world use a political system that is derived from some Roman system, and most modern concepts of law, philosophy, freedom, and justice are derived from Roman and Greek (Roman-lite) ideas.
Christianity ended up adopting a lot of the Roman traditions and helped spread them a hell of a lot too.
While Rome as a state had a bad end, it’s ideals and what it meant have lived on and will continue to live on for thousands of years.

@@scott_hunts Did it even have a bad end, though? Territories were slowly lost in the west over the course of about 60 year. The last emperor in the west quietly retired. The Emperors of the east expelled Germ influence from the army and court, and continued on until the time of Christopher Columbus.
When the western empire fell, no one living in it at the time seemed to even realize it.

Little historical fun fact; part of the reason why Diocletian's reforms didn't largely pan out when it came to economics (save monetary reforms) was that the Romans had a limited understanding of concepts like inflation (as did much of the world). Sure, they understood that having more gold or silver in your coins made them more valuable which is why Diocletian's monetary reforms ended up being the most successful branch of it. However, it wasn't quite realized how inflation could affect other parts of the economy when it came to actual goods being scarce... which is why Diocletian went with one of history's first very seriously recorded attempt at Price Controls. What Diocletian mistook as merchant greed that needed price controls, like most communists, was just scarcity in goods caused by the Crisis of The Third Century: bread was expensive because the entire Empire had basically been ransacked twice over.
It didn't work and in addition to that Diocletian tying human capital to one job and one plot of land forever meant that people couldn't move to where the economy was demanding human resources like labor the most or to the best land. So not only did Diocletian pave the way for serfdom, he pretty effectively introduced a pretty hard handicap to the Roman Economy that it wouldn't really recover from until serfdom and slavery started to fall out of fashion in the Eastern Roman Empire... but of course by then it was a bit too late.
