That egg guy seems preety cool
I’ll give this movie one thing- the reasoning behind the traps & why people are in them are actually pretty good. In half the later Saw movies it’s like “you’re a smoker? Death.”
You use antidepressants for your depression? Death.
You’re a victim of spousal abuse? Death.
You accidentally stepped on an ant? Death.
VI: "Smoker working for a corrupt company? DEATH"
VII: "Married to someone who lied to you ? DEATH"
Jigsaw: "Did irresponsible things as a teenager? DEATH"
You put the milk in the bowl before the cereal: Death, now you will drown in milk
I love that Chris Rock just said "hey im a big fan of Saw and i wanna be in one, and i have this really cool idea" and Lionsgate just went "yes of course anything, youre Chris Rock"

When he said “John Kramer didn’t target cops” he meant he didn’t target cops specifically, as in he didn’t go after the police force, or any collective group for that matter. He targeted individuals based on their actions, whether they be cops or not. The new Spiral Killer specifically targeting the police force does not fit Kramer’s MO, nor any of his disciples.
Didn't john Kramer in saw 2 specifically go after a group of people that where all framed by 1 cop? And also in at least the first 3 he goes after almost every cop or detective that tries to arrest him. I know it's not a specific police force or anything and it doesn't fit perfectly but I'm just saying it might be a nitpick at a nitpick of a dumb line.
@@victorweiss2833 They JUST said he didn't EXCLUSIVELY target cops. He didn't EXCLUDE cops, he just didn't make a literal pig-cop puppet and exclusively kill cops, it's not that complicated. Also it's worth remembering these aren't random civillians AND it's been a long time since Saw VII, everyone presumably knows that Kramer specifically died in Saw III and there were accomplices with different motives.
Imo the biggest flaw with this Saw besides length is the twist being telegraphed. It would have been nice to have never actually seen a kill, only follow Chris Rock's character as he tries to piece it together from the results and giving us flashbacks to them, that way it's perfectly reasonable both to show us the Rookie dying AND him to be wrong, especially when it decides to emphasis how much he's losing it after the Rookie dies. I think this could have been the best Saw since the second if it'd gotten another draft or two.
i laughed everytime i heard ( i want to play a game ), sounds like some fat white kid. definitely couldn't take the saw killer serious this movie
Yeah, at least this serial killer had a halfway decent motive as opposed to "this dude smoked his whole life" and "this grieving mother is handling the death of her child the way I want her to".
@victorweiss2833 the only police officer that John targeted for being a dirty cop was Mathews. Other cops that were targeted were targeted because they were either convenient and fit John’s ideological requirements or in Hoffman’s case he simply needed to get rid of them. Every cop that was targeted except Mathew’s was due to things that didn’t necessarily involve their profession. You could argue Kerry and Riggs, but ultimately it was more about their obsession than their choice of career.
I love that final kill cause doesn’t just resemble a puppet, it’s literally pulling the strings and manipulating his movements. The way the movie makes you think that zeke is going to be framed as the crazy guy with a gun and turning it around is so cool
My favorite thing about Spiral was when the official Twitter account got hacked and an image was posted with a buff Jigsaw with a thong posing on his tricycle

This is why I love Dead Meat. Even though he didn't like the movie, He still talked about how much effort the crew put into it and he's respectful of other peoples opinions. I hate certain movie reviewers that either take it too seriously, hate on people that disagree with them, or just overexaggerate things. I know that Dead Meat isn't really a movie review, but he has some elements of being a reviewer.
James has made jokes about being a movie reviewer, so technically he is. He just focuses on the bodies dropping. It's why he craps on Thankskilling instead of just going "here's the dead bodies, bye."
His opinions on Jason Takes Manhatton is great haha “This movie suuuuuucks”
I did love how he had finger traps too
i love how even if he hates the film like thankskilling he still gives it a 15 minute video of tge kills and behind of the scenes gotta love his effort
I agree. There are those who write the movies, and those who make the movies. I thought the plot was terrible, but the behind the scenes stuff was great.
Banks death was probably the most disturbing death in the movie. Getting the blood drained out of him for hours, "set free", and then reset into the trap as he begs for help until shot while his son has to watch. Other deaths were messed up but his was the worst
Honestly I actually really enjoyed spiral honestly, I think rock's humor falling flat kind of helps the character feel more like that cop who's trying to be likable but fails. I also found the style to be intense and fun
The tongue trap is literally unwinnable, there's so many veins and muscles in the tongue you'd bleed out before you even made it to the end of that tunnel

I think the issue James is having with the movie is that he’s seeing it as a Saw movie. It’s not, it’s in the same universe, but it’s not a sequel. I do, however, agree that Chris Rock’s comedy fell a little flat. It felt forced. The suspense and overall mystery throughout the film was very well done. I
I agree specially the twilight part. Man, that's where i realized he's trying so hard to put some humor around the movie. But i love the forest gump part.

I understand the impulse to show the gory results of a trap killing someone, but the scenario of surviving a trap that's not guaranteed to kill someone feels a little underused. We have Amanda in the Reverse Bear Trap (EDIT: forgot she had to kill someone, oops), then two characters beating unsurvivable traps (Strahm and Hoffman), but almost every Jigsaw survivor was paired with other people who had to die in their trap. I think the reason people saw the the first film as more sophisticated was that it had scary scenarios without feeling compelled to show the worst outcomes of every single one, and a character being a survivor of their Jigsaw experience automatically makes them more interesting in the plot going forward.
I see you everywhere man. Where am I going to see you next thicc pawg teen twerk videos
No one surviving the traps really took something from this film
While I do agree with you, I honestly think that the point of the traps in this film were to appear to be survivable but actually is completely impossible to survive. John Kramer's motive was to make people realise the value of living whereas this guy just wants to punish dirty cops. If they survive, how would it change anything in a positive way other than putting a huge target on the guys back? As an example of the perceived survival in these traps, the finger pulling one is impossible to survive as the person was complying with the task completely but a short break caused him to be electrocuted which I think would have happened either way. I do agree with you in that the fact that there are several survivors of jigsaws traps makes each trap more valuable as we don't know how it's going to go but this film is more like if John died and Amanda completely took over as she had conflicting motives. Sorry that this is off topic but I don't have anyone irl to share my theories with😂
@@LunaBeth97 i agree 100% with your comparison to Amanda. These traps can seem either ameteurish or rigged against the victims because they’re dirty cops. I’d like to see someone survive in the next one though!
The Saw movies are a victim of caring more about the gore and creating the absurdly over the top nonsense lore that people gravitated to in the first couple films. Its a shame thay we'll likely never see a more grounded and believable Saw style of story.

@Mia - Sᴇx Cʜᴀɴɴᴇʟ 18+🅥 nice bot
The little parody of The Ultimate Showdown by Lemon Demon at the end made me so happy, I love Neil Cicierega's music. He's a major inspiration. I've been binging this series since one of the videos showed up on my recommended, it's pretty fun to have playing in the background while I do housework. This video may be a year old but keep up the excellent work, guys! Do remember to take breaks when you need them though.
I really want to see this blend into the older Saw movies because imo, the new killer is like a combo of Hoffman, Amanda, AND Jigsaw. They have the "My methods are creating good results" of Jigsaw, the "I am the person who rightfully judges" of Hoffman, and the "They don't deserve to live so let's rig their game" of Amanda. Each trap feels winnable but also doesn't. The targets are deserving of being tested but they aren't set up to properly learn their lesson.
I think that is expanded upon and if it bleeds into OG Saw lore harder, it would reinvigorate the franchise to new and higher potential Heights. Ending here feels like leaving the door open for an incoming guest but not knowing their ETA or if their dangerously unkempt transportation did them in
I think the “Jigsaw didn’t target cops” line meant that he didn’t SPECIFICALLY target cops- his targets were anybody who did wrong in his eyes, it just so happened that a lot of people who did wrong were dirty cops, in contrast to this killer who is only killing cops.
This
He killed cops but it wasn’t the bread and butter for him and the vast majority weren’t cops
Also he specified Kramer but the examples used were Amanda who didn’t follow the rules, not Kramer.
He targeted ‘bad’ people, some of whom happened to be cops
@@sylviedevine5295 He kills a lot of random cops with booby traps, which makes his whole "I despise murderers" schtick even more baffling.
@@SniperDiplomat The only cops Jigsaw killed were Detective Sing from Saw 1 and a couple SWAT officiers from Saw 2. He never purposely targeted cops. As for the other cops like Detective Kerry, Officer Rigg and Detective Matthews, they were killed by Amanda and Hoffman.

Awe pig! Get oinked!
If he ever decides to do a Saw Series: Recount I hope he does all the “aaAAH, PIG!” bits with the same amount of enthusiasm from this kill count-
I did too
I think the “Kramer didn’t target cops” line meant “Kramer didn’t solely target people *because* they were cops. Some of his victims just happened to be cops.” Completely different
Could have been worded differently though
Plus, wasn't the cop used as an example captured by Amanda and not John?
exactly!
Indeed
If anyone’s targeted cops, it was those working or worked for him.
Amanda targeted Eric Matthews for placing evidence that got her thrown in jail. She then placed Kerry in an unsolvable game that got her killed since she probably knew of this but didn’t say anything.
Mark Hoffman put Daniel Rigg through a test to teach him a lesson in procedural but he ended up failing, costing him and Eric’s life. Hoffman then killed Strahm after he was getting too close to unveiling his secret, then killed 3 FBI agents immediately after finding out, then set his sights on Matt Gibson for protecting Jill Tuck. After refusing to hand her over, Hoffman killed Gibson, whatever was left of Rigg’s SWAT team and Gibson’s entire unit.
Finally, Logan set his sights on Brad Halloran for a variety of reasons. He took bribes, planting evidence, let the worst criminals walk free (one of which who killed Logan’s wife) causing an array of aggravated crimes throughout the city.
If anyone didn’t seem to respect Jigsaw’s morals or ideals… Mark Hoffman seemed like a lost cause from the start.

Ehh as much as I watched James since Year 1DM, he def changed his motives/approach. I understand its his job, so paid promotions make sense, but how he's approached certain movies within the past half year has been lacklustered. Train to Busan really upset me because he really only cared about behind the scenes, he put crazy work into Zombie Land 2 and tried so hard to count kills, On Busan he just goes "I dont see them die on screen". It was a train filled with people, and 1 zombie, but then it becomes a full train of zombos....We all know they died. When I watched it i didn't know William was jigsaw i got a bit surprised
@@j-zhirngaming9550 Seriously? It was pretty obvious lol
@@snnnaaaaaakeeeee4470 Idk I'm never really thinking about what the ending is going to be when watching a movie so I never predict what's going to happen.
@@Sam-xd8fy Fair enough it's just that by this point the whole plot twist gimmick has gotten so lazy
@@snnnaaaaaakeeeee4470 i guess I'm dumb
little did chris rock know will smith was waiting
Can't wait for the oscars death count
just realized chris rock is in this 😭😭
Seeing Nick Fury and Osmosis Jones flash guns at each other is peak cinema
I just realized it then lmao
Bro that’s mace windu
@@footsalt28 But that's... whatever that Burger loving Bible quoting hitman's name was.
@@footsalt28 Bro, that's Shaft! XD
@@appratows6795 lol nah dude, i remembered the trailer, unless you're talking about yourself... but you should've said "hold onto your butts", since we're all on a Sam L kick. XD
Can we talk about how the main villains entire last trap hinders on the idea that Chris Rock wouldn't just pistol whip him? lol.
Or just fucking testify against him later.
I mean, TO BE FAIR, the man aside from the first part where Chris's character is processing the situation as he told it to him, he kept his distance from Rock, he would have saw it coming from like at least 8 feet or more away since he walked away from Chris.
News Confirmed Will Smith is the new Jigsaw
Whereas most of the later saw films has a bad story, Spiral is actually very well written and the ending was pretty good
Fun fact: he first trap is almost impossible to beat seeming as if you drop down and rip your tongue out you will bleed out in minutes, before you can get help
Huh does that mean that all those scenes in movies of people getting their tongue cut out and then running around are total bs?
@@nataliealphonse4634 it depends on how much is cut out i think. like a small chunk wouldnt be as life threatening as yoinking the /entire/ thing
@@beepobeepo Yoink is officially my favorite word in the English language now
None of the trap are winnable
Really? I thought having the tongue amputated was a common punishment in medieval times
But he's right john kramer didn't target cops. He targeted many different individuals. He was stating that the new killer targets cops while John's targets were more vast.
Yeah, the issue is more how the line is written.
"John Kramer didn't target cops" implies he NEVER went after cops in all of the movies. Should have been "John Kramer didn't JUST target cops"
@@user-mv8ys5og5l came here to say exactly this.
@@user-mv8ys5og5l That’s a perfect fix for that line.
@@user-mv8ys5og5l
Like someone said below, tecnically John never targetted cops in that way. The sole exception was Hoffmann and being a cop wasn't the reason John chose him. His accomplices targetted cops, not him.
@@leandroteixeira33 There was also the Cop in 4 who served as the main trap plot of the film, s well as the cop in the same movie who got his head crushed by blocks of ice. Again though, they both would have been just fine had the first cop done the task properly instead of trying to be Superman.
Watching this as Chris Rock just got slapped
writing the joke for chris rock instead of letting him do his thing, would be a..........slap in the face......
That was a sick “On the Next Kill Count” scene
This is the ultimate showdown! Finally someone actually said something about thay
Yeah!
22:51 (self mark for me lol)
all i did was laugh everytime i heard ( i want to play a game ) it sound like some fat kid behind a mic tryna threat someone
The character Chris Rock plays here is basically Osmosis Jones
So Zeke is an antromomorphic white blood cell police officer?😂
Thank you!!! I'm not the only one who saw that. Some of the same story beats and everything
A much better film IMO
@Brandon Knight but not a white blood cell tho. He’s a black blood cell
God no.
Who else is watching this post will smith slapping Chris rock
Right here, dude...
Right after the Oscars and this pops up. CZcams Algorithm is savage!
I’ll say this about Spiral: It’s the perfect gateway Saw film. A new generation will be introduced to Saw and this film basically tells them: “Okay, this is the gist of what you’ll be getting yourself into should you wish to explore this franchise further. Now go back and watch the ones that are actually good.”
I hope this is the case! Reinvigorating interest in the originals would be awesome!
Honestly I showed a girl who never really watched horror movies the first saw and she actually liked them and went to watch a few more
@@jeremyscungio16 That first film is absolutely timeless.
It's perfect if you want to turn people away from the franchise
@@levischorpioen she even referenced it in class I was proud
21:44 I love the way he customizes the people for how they die, it’s adds a nice element to it
Ok I saw this video the first day it came out and I saw the movie right before, I honestly love that these deaths actually feel necessary because everyone who died actually did something bad, unlike in some of the saw movies where the kills felt unnecessary, like in 3D the first kill was a toxic relationship girl...but in spiral most of the kills felt necessary because they killed, caused kills, or hurt people
whole saw series in three words, blood, pig, puppet
Out of all the "to the numbers" gags, this is one of the best. It looks like its taken out off the saw franchise
I can't express how happy it made me to have you mention Chris Ramsey's involvement in this film. I watched a few of his own videos about the experience and it seemed like he and Darren really hit it off!
I love how they said this wasnt a saw film, yet the new one is called Saw X
This movie was so dumb but I sat through it
True/faxes
The entire plot of the second SAW revolved a corrupt cop trying to save his son from Jigsaw who had him trapped in a house with people who went to jail after he set them up with planted evidence.
The "ON THE NEXT KILL COUNT" segment for the Freddy vs Jason is the most perfect thing I have ever seen in my life, it's PERFECTION
One of the supposed traps for this movie was for Chris to tell a joke about Will Smiths wife
Most lethal one
22:06 the kill in the final destination on the bridge does this. It is a vision kill tho
17:35 I want a compilation of every time James said “Aah Pigged!”
The ways he delivers that line is awesomely funny
I can almost guarantee that’s gonna be a Dead Meat Short in a couple days lol
“Modern Saw Kill Counts would be about 40 minutes. Let’s not do that though, alright?”
Leaving this here for a few years when we inevitably get a Saw Recount.
We prob won’t get a saw recount
Why would we get a Saw recount? Those videos still hold up fairly well today, unlike Friday the 13th. And also unlike Friday the 13th the Saw counts didn't start the channel so they aren't as special.
OMG, the Kill ReCount trailer for Freddy vs Jason has a riff on The Ultimate Showdown Of Ultimate Destiny…GOD that takes me back…
