And here I am, after the DA4 trailer. My journey began with the Inquisition and now, almost ten years later, hearing this music is like a balm for the soul.

Completely agree. Alistair or Hawke should not be part of a 'side-choice' potential death. If they was to die, it would have to be a truly epic death in DA 4. A hardened Alistair in origins to forgive Loghain imo is the best outcome. Then in DAI, the choice between Hawke and Loghain is a much easier one. I feel it would give Loghain the golden chance to redeem himself for his past sins. It gives so much more depth to him if he dies here. The only true ending for Alistair is for him to be King. Origins displays his amazing story arc of him not wanting the throne and someone who doesn't want the throne is more likely to be a great king. Alistair is good hearted and brave. Towards the end of Origins he shows his maturity over the course of the game in becoming the king that the people need.
You know it's a good fan song when it makes you want to play the entire series for the first time.
His Deus Ex song did that for me. The New Black Gold is what made me want to play HR, and since then I've been a fan.
It's a great series. Hopefully Bioware doesn't ruin 4

the song are magnitudes better than games they are based on. the only Dragon Age worth playing is Origins. the second game is trash and the third is somewhat less trash but trash none the less

I wish to share something personal. This song is so incredible. My wife just went through a cancer surgery. And she is lucid some of the time. I have this song on my music rotation. So I played it for her. We both sang, Hold on! Hold on! To see her smile. That was priceless. Thank You! Gavin, a true Bard and a Gentleman. I thank you.

Doing well. Been out of the hospital about a 3 weeks. Still healing, but on the mend! We do the first CT Scan post surgery in August. So fingers crossed that we got through this. Very tough surgery, took a lot of strength on her part. Music truly helped to keep spirits lifted! :)

I'm sorry, I've just been waiting for Level 5 for so long. Seriously, it makes me wish that music albums had some kind of "subscription" mode or something where you buy the album before it's done and when a new song gets added to said album, you automatically get a copy. Think "episodic gaming" applied to music.
Because I would have bought Level 5 around the time Fires Far came out, if I could :p.

I lost my fucking mind when he tied in his old Dragon age song.
Gods that opening guitar hook still gives me chills after years. And with the anticipation for Dreadwolf, I had to come back to this beauty.
How Gav has not been hired to market a video game alludes me. Honestly, videos like this sway people to get the game more so than actual trailers.
I'm going to share this so that as many people as possible can see it. Stuff like this needs more recognition. SO much better than anything else I've ever heard. Period.

I had no interest in DA:I, because I didn't even finished DA:O. Then I see AngryJoeShow, and say to myself "Hmm, this game can be pretty cool. I should probably try it out sometime." Then this song - guess what I'll be buying as soon as possible.
Also, when some of my friends are interested in some game I played, I always link them some of my favorite screenshots, trailer and Gav's song - because he always capture the games perfectly.
I listened to Age of the Dragon after listening to this. Now I'm imagining the kind of geek out long time subscribers must have had at the 4:23 mark. X3

I am breathless. I sat at the edge of my seat waiting for this song to be released. You've always upheld this precedent of perfection, but this song goes above and beyond. It delivers a soft kiss to the cochlea, violently yanks at the heart strings, and drags the gut into the floor, filling the soul with a tidal wave of emotion that leaves me absolutely incredulous. Age of the Dragon is one of my favorite of your songs, and you perfectly rekindled the crimson embers into a roaring fire. My stomach is contorted into knots and my mind is whirling into vertigo. No other artist can come near to giving this effect, this aura of overwhelming feeling. Your music makes me happy, gives me chills, and has truly changed my life. I couldn't think of any better way to end an amazing year, and I thank you for giving all of your listeners not just songs, but experiences. Level 5 is going to be amazing, and I couldn't be happier with the amazing work you've done. It's incomprehensible to me. This was definitely worth the wait. Thank you so much.

This might sound preposterous at first... but this is the best song you´ve ever done Gav. You outdid yourself with this one. Period.
It had this Iron Maiden feel to it that made it extremely likeable at first, and all the references to your previous song just made it even more epic to listen to.
Level 5 is a must have this year, no doubt about that.

marduk ishenhougher Templars are Knights who are commanded by God and the Church to kill in the name of God. Technically speaking they are the only Christian Monks who kill. They are all Crusaders, but not all Crusaders are Templars if you know your history of the real world.

Oh my god Gav, I have no words, if anything you've outdone yourself on this one and I thought that wasn't possible, I literally cannot wait for Level 5 right now. Also, one thing I really like about this song is that it can apply to Dragon Age: Origins as well, because it doesn't really mention any Inquisition specific stuff (Not that I can notice anyway, I haven't played Inquisition and know nothing about its plot) so because I'm currently playing DA:O I can just pretend the song is about that which is amazing, I tried imagining it with Age of the Dragon but I couldn't really do that (I'm looking at you "Hawke....Hawke.....Hawke"). Death Of The Author aside, I really cannot thank you enough for the music you've given to us all over the years, thank you, again, so very much for sharing your art with the world, you are amazing. Hope this doesn't put a damper on it, but the "Maker's sign" and "mark" parts are related to Inquisition, the main character's hand being marked with a powerful scar that can save the world. Though, the mark of the Warden's Taint could work too.

Yeah. If you just imagined, the mark could easily be interpreted as the Taint. It's kind of a blessing (which can be seen as a mark from the Maker) and also a curse, the various negative effects of the Taint. Didn't want to put any kind of spoilers, even for DA:O

Well, my desktop computer is ancient so I was at first considering saving for a new desktop. But then my brother got me into gaming and now I'm not sure if I should get the computer or an Xbox1(he's got an 360 that he lets me play on sometimes). I've heard a lot of different things about the gameplay on both of them and I'm still not sure what I should go for.

Another feckin' masterpiece. It sent shivers down my spine when it got to "Fight for your values and fight for your friends". Age Of The Dragon was the first of your songs that I listened to. I remember playing and replaying that song all the time. This, like pretty much of all your songs, gets the same treatment from me. Great stuff, Gav!

i still don't know what i'm going to play as when i get this game, i'm thinking a warrior with a sword and shield or with a two hander. in the other two i was a rouge
Besides one of my playthrough's, all my characters were warriors. Sword and shield in Dragon Age Origins, and mainly a two hander in Dragon Age 2. At the moment, I'm playing as a human, male, warrior who uses a sword and shield in Inquisition. I'd say, stick with the class that you know best, or unless you want to change things up.
i've seen game play with knives, DA2 had the best combat i would have to say, and sword and shield looks a bit odd to me (but what do i know i haven't seen enough gameplay)

Anyone who knows anything about Dragon Age is that above all the grey morality, relationships and you know...dragons...the games are about having hope. Hope in your friendships, your choices and above all hope in the people outside your bubble of companions. This song has captured not only the essence of Inquisition, but the whole series. I love it

Funny thing about Inquisition for me was that I played the first hour or so before I quit and played the DA2 DLC's - which I bought and never played. That made me realize I quite - despite my many complaints - liked that game; it's a lot of fun, and I really like Hawke (heresy, I know).
So ended up replaying the whole series from the start (Leliana's Song and onward), meaning it'll probably be another 3-4 weeks before I'm going back into Inquisition. This song really motivates me to hurry that up though :)
Daniel Mårtensson I played both games (all DLC) over the last few months! Phew! I'll get around the completionist/Nightmare/storyalt runs, uh, sometime. Gotta make my Mass Effect PC series catch up to my console one first.
***** The humorous female Hawke is just a really amusing character to play. There's good dialogue for the Warden too, but in replaying it now I see a lot of issues with the dialogue options in Origins compared to DA2.
You have no idea what tone you're saying things in, so what looks like a joke might be an insult, and you've got no idea what is an investigative question and what moves the conversation along - so it's easy to miss information.
And well... the Warden just has no personality, no character, he/she is just a blank slate you fill with meaning - and then reverts to just your hand in the game once you stop talking again. I didn't think I'd miss having a voiced protagonist, but I actually really do.
I do like it when my Warden talks in combat though, as that's the only time he acts like a person without my direct input. Though he really seems like a happy little psychopath when he say's things like:
"Look at this mess, I love it!" and
"Is it just me, or do you actually think you have a chance?" or
"Time for some fun!"
But the only character trait he seems to have is that he *really* likes violence :P
***** There's really good dialogue to be found in Origins, and I like knowing exactly what I chose to say.
But I have no idea what what will give me information and what will move the conversation along, or the tone of what I say, which was never an issue with the dialogue wheel. So I personally consider the trade off from going to the dialogue wheel worth it.
And I'm using the "experienced" one actually, it's the closest to my own deep voice. And he apparently loves violence, and is rather cocky.

You have to be one of the few who like the Warden's snippets in combat, you can basically give most fans the desire to tear their ears off by saying the words: "Can I get you a ladder? So you can get off my back?"
I personally preferred the Origins system, just because it was the *exact* wording of what you were saying. re-playing through DA2 I feel a lot less like I'm choosing my characters words, but rather personality. Which more or less locks me in to what I've been playing up to that point, otherwise there's this weird dissonance. I loved the dialogue wheel in Mass Effect, but it takes a while to get used to picking my characters personality, as opposed to dialogue.

I had such a fangasm when I heard the guitar piece from Age of the Dragon start playing. This song is a perfect summation of why I love your channel; the slower more gentle parts followed by kick as Iron Maiden style rock and epic fan service. A fitting song to cap off both Level 5 and the year with. Great job! :)

I'm listening to this and 2020 and let me just say this song never gets old. I'm in my senior year pf highschool and first got into Dragon Age when i was in middle school due to someone I had met named Sam. We lost contact around 8th grade for me but we used to talk about Dragon Age whenever we would talk. I'm really happy he showed me this stuff otherwise i probably wouldn't be listening to it! I'm glad i am though good job on all of this!!!

Incredible. Really, absolutely incredible. When the dust settles, I'm not sure where it'll lay, but I think this is right now my favorite of your gaming songs. After dozens upon dozens of hours of playing this game, this song... you captured a brilliant game with an incredible song, once again, but even more so. I salute you.

I'm absolutely blown away by how amazing and inspirational this song is. The lyrics are absolutely great, the music is epic and I think this video is even better than the actual Dragon Age: Inquisition trailer.
The official trailer was fine, in my opinion, but it lacked the personality and the emotions the game itself let's you experience. Your song though, it delivers these emotions you experience and the bonds you make throughout the game perfectly! And the chorus, oh god, it's so GOOD!
Truly, this is one of the best Dragon Age songs I've heard in a while and I think your channel deserves much more subscribers than it has right now, your songs are a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

I've spent years hearing "Through the age of the dragon, the people will talk... of the day they were saved by a hero named Hawke" and only just came across this one somehow - I was completely blindsided by the riff of that song in this one. An excellent song.

I used to listen to lots of cassette tapes ordered from the old 'firebird' label, by musicians like Leslie Fish and Heather Alexander, lots of 'Filk' music about popular science fiction and fantasy books. They were an important part of my childhood,, and your music feels the most to me like the next step of all that- a professional representation of the current generation creating music for scifi/fantasy subjects that they love, in a way that actually adds something of substance and quality to the fandom culture.

One thing I really appreciate about the footage - especially with that last shot of the group together - is that it makes the Inquisitor and his friends look almost like superheroes. Gav’s music just takes it one gigantic step further!

I started playing Inquisition just last week, and I'm baffled at how both artistically and graphically it still holds up. I'm having a lot of fun, and I wish they released a remaster of the previous ones since I haven't had the chance to play them

These feels like a kickass last stand music. Y'know what I mean, when our heroes have fought off all opposition so far, but are shown an adversary they cannot win against, and they all know that they might die. But something pulls them to face it, it's the truth in the fact that they are not alone, that their kindred spirits are at home, that their worn hands are in each other's, that their bond is stronger than any enemy large or small. And they accept their fate willingly, knowing that when they die, they would be right where they belong. Side by side.

I know this has been said by a hundred others already, but great job man, I love it. This could easily be your highest quality production yet (Not to put down the others; they're all amazing!.) This song is worthy of a medal. It sounds amazing. Some of it sounds almost like poetry or prose set to a tune. Exceptional writing, on par with the singing and instruments. You always leave me impressed. It may not mean much; but this has made my day better.

Still one of my favorite Miracle of Sound songs. I listened to this song a lot in 2016 when the company I worked for was in the process of being liquidated and going to work every day to witness the systematic dismantling of the job I loved was crushing me.

This game was my first into the Dragon Age series, and I am glad for it. I love everything, bugs and awkwardness included. Every time I hear this song, it makes me want to play DAI all over again. I am so excited for DA4, and I hope dearly that we can continue to play as the Inquisitor.

Man, I love Miracle of Sounds's treatment of Video Game epics. This version is better than the Age of the Dragon version for DA2, but we all know THE Grey Warden was a true titan among mortals and needs an epic ballad.
This song literally gets me up, dancing, and singing along every time I hear it. Every time I write a D&D campaign to the tune of it, the players love it. I can't express how awesome this is. Just... just keep on rockin', Gav. And never, ever stop.
