- See the moment New York Mets C Luis Torrens fielded the slow roller in front of home base and threw it to 1B Pete Alonso to save the game against the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-5, while the bases were loaded.

Props to the catcher. That's a ballsy throw to make off balance.
Helluva play. That’ll make the trip back to the states a little more pleasant.
That double play was
LEGENDARY ❤⚾️
Hearing Michael Kay broadcasting a Mets game must be what if feels like to be having a bad LSD trip.
😂😂😂
Bringing BACK acid nights from the 70s never had a bad trip excellent memories
This Mets team is amazing. No quit. Unbelievable.
😂🤡💩🤣
I’m a Mets fan you gotta be joking
Only 3 games out of a wildcard spot. Wow.
@@EdOliver-df4sk ever since the players only meeting they are 6-3. I think they are looking good now.
Uhhhhhhhh no.
INSANE PLAY
Great play. A spark illuminating the dim disposition that the Mets have been displaying over the last 20 games.
WAs a joy to watch, especially as a British Mets fan sat among all the Phillies fans!
Torrens where you been maaan!!!!! We need you since opening day with alvarez!!!!! Good job put there today, Go Mets!!!!!!
Check out the dirty slide at home plate by the Phillies. Glad to see Torrens wasn't seriously injured.
They turned that DP because Julio Iglesias was on the field, and when he's out there, good things happen!
We badly needed that to split with Philly across the pond. LGM
LOLmets. Y’all still suck
What a great win...
Torrens has been way too good. It's gonna be sad for him when Alvarez is back.
Or sad for Nido. They might keep Torrens and send Nido to Syracuse.
@@jimwertherI heard that neither player has options, so one of them will probably be lost. I like Nidos a backup but Torrens has been awesome in his short stint.
@@richardcurley5798
I checked it up, and you are correct. Neither has options. Nido was out of options last year when they sent him down, but no one claimed him, possibly because he was in his first year of a two year, $3.75m contract. Will someone take him now? Don't know.
Is there any way they can keep three catchers? We all love Alvarez, but...did everyone forget how badly he faded last year after the first few weeks? His second half numbers: .174/.270/.343/.613. His numbers for the entire season? .209/.284/.437/.721. Let's be honest, those are not major league numbers. Do we really want to lose Nido or Torrens forever? What if Alvarez, who is essentially in the middle of spring training, starts out 1 for 50? Or gets injured again? Any way this team can carry three catchers for a little while, until they see how this plays out?
The Bat breaks and the Guy from the PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES Hits into a weird Game ending Double Play. During that Game the People of Great Britain probably Learned that the HISTORY of the PHILLIES " STINKS " !!!
I had tickets for Saturday and blew out a car tyre on the way missed it all, so today's win has somewhat made up for that
Nice to hear Michael Kay, the longtime announcer for the Yankees, doing this game for the Mets. I could be wrong, but I think this is the Mets' first time playing in London.
Wow, great play by the catcher
That’s a great play
Quite the play. Not often you even see someone hit a ball just two steps from home plate. That slide at home was dirty and might have hurt the catcher.
oh wow didnt realize that but you're right. very dirty
Thats what winning baseball looks like and why Garret Stubbs is on the ball club. Keep crying Mets fans 😂😂😂
@@WhitneyNewarknot a Mutt fan but that was a dirty play. Don't see why you need to defend it.
Amazing play by the catcher, he had to lift himself up from an awfully awkward postion, pick up the ball, run back to tag the homeplate then make an off balance throw to first
A must win for the Mets. 28 and 36 now. Lets come home. Sweep the Marlins and take 2 out of 3 from the Padres. Diaz has to get his act together. Whst is this guys problem. Your a pitcher show some heart and start saving games again
Michael Kay had a bad day, but made a good call here. Surely this will cast a curse over the Yankees going forward!
That Castellanos swing... bro rolled a 1 on his attack move
That was awesome!
Superb Play by the catcher ... Great Win 💙🧡
I don't think this win will change the Mets season but I enjoy beating the Phillies
That wasn’t a dirty slide, it was a Philthy slide.
Yes - a somewhat rare play that we were prepared for in Little League.
All the infield would first come home if they could get the runner nd if he had time - the catcher would go to first.
Let’s go Mets!
amazing, no one noticed he came up limping?? with chase utley sitting in the booth, another dirty slide...you better hope he's ok, terrens passes the eye test, he is the real deal,..have to keep him... matter of fact, I feel better with him catching, than alverez...yup.. I said it... at the very least we have an awesome backup catcher.. what an arm!! and hits for power... sweeeeet!!!
Chill…
Michael Kay calling a Mets win is the most surreal thing ever
Really, you’ve never seen a Yankee loss to the Mets, ever?
@@5ivenineteen Why would I willingly watch YES Network during the Subway Series?
@@PipeGuy64Bit seriously? When the Mets win a game between the Yankees you watch yes at the end to drink the tears.
Yeah baby!
The AMAZIN’ METS pull it off - one of the best infield plays of the season so far-LET’S GO METS!
Dirty slide
I don't know what that phillies fan was suggesting they appeal for at 0:20
Great play! Terrible replay!! Why was he limping after the play? Why didn't the announcers notice?
Because the Phillies guy at 3rd slid into him as he was throwing. A dirty trick indeed.
The Phillies manager left
the relief pitcher to long
for one thing. You could
see he didn’t have it.
Bad managing.
That’s how you slide into home plate Garret. Ain’t out there trying to make friends, doing whatever it takes to win the ballgame! #bbucib
What a play indeed
I would continue to play this guy even when Alvarez comes BACK
The official scoring is 2-2-3. Catcher touches home plate (Torrens - 2 Unassisted) then Torrens 2 - Alonso - 3 for 2nd out!!!
Play of the Year.
Thats a Major league play !!
Michael Kay is doing a mets game?😂
It’s almost like a quarterback. He knew he was gonna take a shot if he wanted to make a good throw.
This play won me some money
Awesome 👌 Play !
Amazing Mets!
Big win we are now 28_and 36 8 games under .500
We are playing at home 3 games vs Miami 3 games vs zSad Diego
A d whats Diaz doi g. He needs get back out there and dave spme games. Get his act together now
Leave it up to the Phillies to make a dirty play at home too
Insane 😮😮😮!! Bohm was moving down the line. How did the catcher stay THAT alert ⚠️ 📢 to spin his own body around to touch home? Settle for the split!!
Dirty slide
They really didn't let Michael Kay speak after making the call
Thank God
It’s a 2-2-3 double play. Typical ESPN lack of knowledge.
Great slide
dirty side
@@XTRABIGI js peeped that thas crazy Philly is a quiet dirty team
Dirty, will get hit next game
You are probably a filthy Phillies lover
@@xavierb9061 Mets are spineless. Nothing will come of it.
TORRENS IS THE GOAT
We'll pull a 9-3 one on Tuesday 😂
Phillies bullpen gave this one away. They were due for a clunker.
The Phillies threw away this game on a silver platter.
this was poor bullpen play not some great come back live in reality, and yes great play by the catcher.
Why are we acting like a catcher picking up a ball stepping on home plate and throwing to first is some unprecedented feat?
Babe Ruth remains the best MLB player in history to this very day.
Bonds
The ESPN broadcast was HORRIBLE. SHAME.
Why are yankees Broadcasting the screen
The announcers sucked
Would have been a perfect play if we didn't have to hear Michael Kay call it
Michael Kay is awesome

*I'm surprised that the Phillies (or any team in that position) didn't challenge the play. Not that it would've been overturned, but it's the last play of the game, and you never know what the replay might reveal. What are you saving your challenge for? They don't roll over to the next game.*

FTM!
Leave to Castellanos to not hit the ball with a solid strike. I don't think, most of the time, he even sees the ball when he swings the bat. He should work on his offense as much as he does his defense. Alvarado: He's either brilliant or wild. If possible, Phillies need to trade for someone who can play right field and is more consistent at quality at bats. Castellanos is too set in his ways of free swinging, and i'd hate too see him in a clutch situation to get a hit id they make the playoffs.
Phillies threw this game away...
