At 21:15, I mistakenly use the Strength skill for the Settler's close combat attack when she would use her Perception at a -2 since she is using her rifle. Also, when using ranged weapons in Close Combat, only the weapon special effects are applied to numbered models.
awesome man! thanks so much for the video, even after owning the game for about 3 months now i still had a lot of questions. and you were able to answer so many of them in one video.
I'm glad you enjoy them! I keep being surprised that game publishers don't make better tutorial videos for their games. They should hire Rodney from Watch it Played--he's my favorite online game tutor.
I've been learning the game with my boyfriend (we've dedicated a lot of time to learning the rules and playing tutorial scenarios). Thanks for the video! Seeing the rules demonstrated and explained helped clarify a few things for me so it'll be easier to play!
@@gaminggeek241 Ya, he was an Ironworker by trade but has always been a bit of a nerdgeek haha. Since he was forced to retire we've been doing some wargaming stuffs.
2 years on now, so not sure how relevant this is (but as I'm just watching this vid for first time and reading the rules myself now). I think you've misunderstood how "Battle Cry" works here. It can be used as part of a charge move action. The colour on the icon indicates how far back the opponent is pushed by the attacker if the cry is successful and not resisted. A white marker indicates that that character can resist it ONLY. You have to roll an 'opposed skill test', so the highest score, that is also a success, wins. So Big Boi charging rolls first, rolls an 8, he's passed it and Nora can't resit it full stop! However, if he'd rolled a 4 (a low success) but then Nora rolled a 5 (a higher success) she'd resist it. If they both roll 5's, he'd have won as the charger. He can then choose to throw / push her directly backwards whatever colour distance is shown on icon and may follow up for free to stay in base to base contact. If she'd won, as you stated no bonus dice, use any reactions to charge as normal, but ALSO she gains a reaction option to immediately move away, out of combat without being hit as she normally would for breaking from combat. Also, side note, but Critical Points are only acquired by Heroic models (or any with the "!" icon on their unit card or on an ability). All feedback here meant with greatest respect, as I'm trying to work through the rules myself as I write this. I bloody love this game though! As you said, it's not super streamlined but I like that personally, it reminds me of some classic skirmish games I used to play in the '90s.
Instantly subscribed. You have great explanation. i just bought the game, but didnt know how to play properly. I also love Kill Team, so i enjoy your Battle reports also. Keep up the great work.
Totally off topic, you mentioned you had to get another job in one of your other videos. Was that to fund your gaming hobby? Serious question because I myself find it hard to be able to separate from knowing what I don’t need to buy even though I really want to play it.
No, I'm not that dedicated to my gaming hobby to pick up a whole other job! It had to do with life circumstances. I think what helps is to be part of a gaming community where you take turns buying games so that your library is a joint effort. Otherwise, you do go broke!
I would like to play it again but I've been mostly doing Star Breach lately. Hope to come back to it though, especially since I just got a bunch of post-apoc terrain files for 3D printing.
best how-to video out there. i literally learned how to play this game while fixing a customer's server. great job!
Glad it helped!
Agreed great stuff

Trying to make my own game any advise
Great video dude - very helpful. Would love to see a few more covering some of the other game modes - settlements, combat mode & AI etc.

i guess Im quite randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to watch new series online?
@@dashmason322 honestly, no idea. I feel like the activity on this game has kinda died away.
Thanks for the how to. It really cleared up a few questions I had. Great Job
Thanks, this is very helpful while reading through the book, or having a first game
Thank you so much this really helped me understand the rules more 👍
Thank you for this great walkthrough of the system!
I am really enjoying you're how to play videos. thank you very much. PS. Love that you are using the battle systems terrain.

Made it crystal clear thank you for a great tutorial.
Flips over a skull and crossbones, "you immediately have to interact with that". That's generally how IEDs work....
Really helpful, world like to see more.
Great video. Very clear. You explain everything very well. I'm going to share this with my dad.
Glad it is helpful! And also it's great you can play with your dad!

Thanks for the rules corrections! It's helpful as I definitely get some of them wrong! I'm glad you are enjoying the game. 😀

That room tho :o
great video!
Very helpful ! 👍
Great video, I’m just learning so this helped clarify a few things. Will you be making a tutorial for the A.I mode?
Sorry, I won't be since I don't plan on using A.I. mode.
This here is how all game rule videos should be. Very well done.
Hi great vidéo btw, help a lot. I have a Question, where did you find folding terrain like this?
This is Battle Systems cardboard terrain: czcams.com/video/idRzoeGF6ZM/video.html
@0.36 ‘Lots of rules, lots of components...and lots of WHAT?!’
"Chits." That's the word for game pieces, tokens, bits, etc.
The tray that you have your tokens in...where did you get that?
From GMT games: www.gmtgames.com/p-173-counter-trays-10.aspx
did you make all those cardboard cut outs by hand or did u buy them somewhere?

I want to get this but I’d only have one other person to play with on demand which kinda scares me.
It has solo rules and it plays excellent!
@gamergeek do you still play this or did you move on?
I would like to play it again but I've been mostly doing Star Breach lately. Hope to come back to it though, especially since I just got a bunch of post-apoc terrain files for 3D printing.
Clarification for armor boost tokens? The example used in the rules is oddly worded
Sorry, but... Ranged weapons in Close Combat. Only the weapon special effects are applied to numbered models...
Okay, thanks for the clarification!
I give up trying to learn this game wow its so complicated, this vid should have been broken down into seperate ones and explained properly
