I am playing lead guitar on this - I did the Eye of The Hunter tour in 1999, my friend Liam Bradley on drums too. I can tell you that every night we played it I would get shivers up my spine. An absolutely incredible track... it was re-invented as "This Boy" but to me this is the track I fell in love with.
That's more than awesome! From what sessions exactly is this recording? I never figured out.. The quality is crystal clear. Would love to hear the whole show.
This "demo version" is much better in my opinion. I heard it much later than "This boy", and now I partly understand those who scold me for radical reworking of old poems. There is an idiom in the Russian language: "Throw out the water with the baby." It's about bringing things to a soulless shine.

I just wrote this somewhere else. I love Lisa but his songs always drew me to him over her songs. He's phenomenal. Later DCD he sort of peters out, just bc they become DCD-light, music for elevators, and light dining.

Yes!! Finally found this! First time I heard this was a Napster download. That version was live. And you could hear people talking. And at the time I’m thinking how can people be having conversations while this man sings his soul out for you!! Idk. As annoying as the voices were it was a candid version. That I imagined how cool it could be to go into a pub and Brendan Perry is there singing. ❤️🤘🏽

f there was ever a voice to take you to the deepest emotional depths of the human soul this is it. Brandon delivers emotional reality with heavy spiritual touch. All of us who have been exposed to his talent can rest assured that we have witness a truly gifted soul with an incredible instrument. Wether you believe in higher powers or not you cannot deny this is something out of this world. Shame we have to wait so long to be taken on his emotional journeys.

Awesome!!!!!! Words that sound familiar to me. Since I was !7 I told the one who introduced me into Dead Can Dance. "Don´t you think they kind of sound like The Doors", later I found they have all their influece. They´re excellent.

So this is basically the beta version for what would later become "This boy" in the album Ark. Just like what happened with many other songs in that album (Babylon and Crescent to name the first two that come to mind). It's wonderful to realize how actually old the "roots" of some of those songs are, gives you a different perspective I guess.

I'm only just hearing this and musically it's the same as 'This boy' form his ark album, just has different lyrics. I would take a wild guess and say this was a demo.
