I’ve also heard of people bringing safety pins and looping them through the hole in the zipper pull and pinning it to the fabric so it’s harder to unzip!
Yeah same concept I have the zipper on my bag clipped to the strap with a carabiner. It's pretty much impossible for someone to mess with it without me noticing.
I cannot people do this crap at a festival. You’re supposed to be having fun and be carefree. Geez.

Guys/Gals get zipper short pockets that the biggest lifesaver so many times people touched my pockets and I’m like not today bish zippers shorts
just be careful. you can get pickpocketed with zipper pockets. happen to my buddy at bisco this year.
Also getting a phone leash helps too, also if you have an android phone you can enable shutdown protection so you need a passcode to turn it off. Haven't looked into it for iPhone but I'm sure its possible 😊

I bought the little luggage locks with the codes you can spin to the numbers to unlock and then use it to lock the zippers together
Love these tips. The porta potty one happen to me at beyond wonderland. I left my phone on top of the hand sanitizer and when I didn’t feel it in my pocket, my gut dropped. Luckily it was still there when I ran to go get it.

We use to sow inside pockets for protecting our . . cough* . . . cough* valuables we didn't want taken away.
First comment! Boo to thievery and pickpocketing... I pay attention to my surroundings and kinda keep out of the crowds, it's easy for me as I like to have space when I dance.. so that usually means im in the back and not in the crowd... beautiful earrings btw

I would wear an athletic belt underneath my tutu. It was perfect because everything was secure but you couldn’t see it in pictures or in person
Incredibly helpful, I've lost/been stolen things at festivals! Especially when people are having a good time, whether or not they're intoxicated, and with huge crowds, it's super easy to go from total happiness to absolute dread when you realize you have been deceived by someone hugging you or whatever. Still looking for the perfect bag in festival though :)
I just went to Ultra and our way of avoiding theft worked awesome. I had a Vibedration and we put anything we didn’t really care in it (wet wipes, charger, tissues, glasses, ponchos, chapstick, gum). And my friend who had a fanny pack put our phones in the big front pocket and then put our credit cards (one for each of us) in the back pocket that’s close to her stomach which is the hardest place to get to without us noticing. We felt like most people would try to steal stuff out of the Vibedration so that’s why we put things we wouldn’t care if someone did! Nothing got stolen (knock on wood). Hope this helps 🤗
I bought a FlipBelt (runners belt) at EDC LV 2015 and it's AWESOME! I could fit my ID, card, room key, cash, plus my iPhone AND a regular small camera in it! I could still jump up and down, dance, everything, and I had my hands free! :) I LOVE IT! Highly recommend!!
My Hubs is paranoid about his Camelbak pockets, even with me usually walking behind him and watching out. We bought some small S-carabiners to use on the zippers. They work FANTASTIC! Sometimes it's hard for US to open them totally sober and we know how they work, LOL! Someone would have to work super hard to try and open them!

Honestly I was wayyyy too lucky at my first trance festival. Nothing happened (ofc I didn't bring in any bags or valuables in except my phone) but everyone left me alone. Shocking that at major festivals this may not always be the case. All these tips are super valuable, thanks Emma!

i had a guy at edco harassing the girls around me and the guys in their group were so drunk they didn’t even notice so my fiancée had to step in and tell the guy to back off bc he kept trying to dance on them and following them around he looked like he was OFF IT

I always empty out my wallet before a festival. No reason to bring any gift cards, store cards, multiple credit cards, etc. Highly recommended to bring the absolute bare minimum you need to bring (ID, emergency credit card, cash). As a male, I'll always wear some type of shorts with secured pockets to a festival, more than likely cargo shorts, and I’ll put anything worth value in the secured pockets. Anything else I typically bury in the bottom of my hydration pack. I feel that being with a decently sized group of people and being interactive can really be beneficial regarding theft prevention as well because you have people you know around you and that are looking out for you.

Dreamstate was a phone thief’s dream this weekend! 3 of my friends lost their phones at Dreamstate this weekend! Was a total Nightmare!
This gives me flashbacks to when my phone (2 weeks old) was stolen at a festival. Looking back on it I'm fairly certain someone was talking to me in line while another person was going through my camelback. I will never forget my fannypack with the back pocket ever again! Why people do this is something I will never understand.
My partner lost their phone during this BeyondWonderland in SoCal. It was very devastating- they lost about 3 years of photos. We went to the lost & found everyday, a couple times during & aftrr the event. No one ever turned it in 😞 tho we did meet some nice ppl in line that luckily had their stuff turned in.
Preparing for this EDC, i am definitely backing up everything on my phone! (I'll try to make this a habit with every festival going forward)
We've been to a couple edc and ultra. People are so bad these days. Ive seen people bags get cut. My buddy and his girlfriend walk off to watch another show at a different stage they'd had a couple people follow them for 1 hr. I wear a fanny pack and tuck it inside my shorts. I buy bigger shorts.

My hydration pack has double zipper so I just lock it, also I lock my phone screen and in case I loose it i have a see through-ish case I write my name and a number they can call (my hubby) so they can return it ..I swear I dont loose my head cuz its attached to me ...another thing that seems like common sense but some people dont do is HIDE their stuff before leaving their car in the parking lot, my friend was at Coachella and someone broke into his car stole everything that wasn't nailed down ..just a PSA
i put all my stuff (phone, camera, wallet, etc.) in my fanny pack, which i wear in front. i dont keep anything in the camelback, as i have seen people slice them open with a razor and steal stuff. i had one guy lean on me @ opening ceremony , and then 5 seconds later, he passed out from the heat and hit the ground like a ton of bricks!! they hauled him off to the first aid tent.
It sucks that there’s really shitty people who pick pocket. I got my kaleidoscope goggles snatched out of my bag(and we all know expensive those mfs are) at Beyond and didn’t even know until someone let me know my backpack was open. It sucks, but it happens. FANNY PACKS PEOPLE! *FANNY PACKS!*

I went to Ultra and this was the first time we got things stolen from us. My friend had her phone stolen and I had some sunglasses stolen :/ next day I just took a fanny pack. I don’t think I’ll bring a backpack again to a festival. Sucks cause I love mini backpacks.

The hydration pack I just got has a pocket flush against my back separate from the bladder pouch so i would have to take it off for them to get to my phone. It will make me feel so much more secure!! At Spring Awakening I saw tons of girls get their phones stolen right out of their fanny packs.

I was at EDC Las Vegas 2021, I was dancing and a guy wrapped his arm around me and tried "vibing" with me then just walked away. I immediately felt weird vibes and to make things more obvious he was wearing a ski mask. I realized he was definitely trying to pick pocket me, luckily I had all my belongings in an extremely secure location and he got nothing. I had my phone inside my front waistband pushed against my body and my wallet cliped to my pants and inside my waistband. I still felt extremely violated and it messed with me for the next hour.
There were SOOO many pickpocketers at EDC!
I will say this though, Malaa performed at EDC this year and he always wears a black ski mask, and a lot of Malaa fans show up in ski masks. I def saw a lot of pickpocketers scouting me out when I was alone, but I stay hella aware of all that.
I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying the ski mask may have been a legit outfit lol.

At TomorrowWorld 2015 someone stole all but 10$ from me and left me (well) the 10$ and my wallet. It kind of sucked but it was also kind of (everything considered) nice they left whaat they did at least. Lol

At my first rave i went ,to LED anniversary and my phone was stolen out of my fanny pack. I had my Id behind my case and i wasnt able to see riot ten that was happening in two weeks . Now i have shorts with zippper pockets and have things on my backpack zippers to prevent pickpockets. So far nothing been stolen sine i did that . Now i always make sure my phone is secure during a festival. there was this other time i was at beyond where a group of people were going through and this dude unzipped my bag behind me while another guy was talking to me, there werent able to steal anything because i started to spin around because i felt something in my back.
A big thing I’ve always been worried about is a buckle is all that is keeping your fanny pack anchored to your body, so I tie the strap and then buckle it!

Ok so this is what I personally do and it works really well for me.
Idk if you can find this for girls but I wear boxer briefs that have a pocket inside of them to hide your stash (I got it from iheartraves) and I put my phone and camera batteries in there and then I put my cash in one shoe, and room key and id in the other, and I hold on to my camera all night with a lanyard on my wrist and dance around like that. This way I can be nearly naked and still have all my stuff secure. And no one is just going to straight up shove their arm down my underwear in front of me and reach into the secret pocket to take my phone (here's hoping, knock on wood)
2017 was my first edc and first rave and I had literally all of my valuable shit in a fanny pack and I got too fucked up and didn't notice someone unzip it and take everything. they took $200 in cash and my ID and it was the first day. Ever since then I've been SUPER cautious with my stuff.

I keep my ID, some cash, and a credit card in my sock, and my phone is in a fanny pack with a back pocket, and I wear a coat/jacket around it.

It's really simple. Do not get inebriated. People who look totally "gone" are easy targets for pickpocketing.
I know im 4 years later on this comment, but the best protection you have are your own hands on your phone. You can still dance and vibe all night with your phone securely in your hands. Never failed me the past 15 years during raves, festivals and events
