    Hello Lindsey,
    as a new sewer, I never really made my own pattern. After using your method and measuring myself, I decided to make a mock top for woven fabric using your measurement explained above...Lo and behold, it was perfect. Thank you so very much....

      Good for you for learning how to fit. I have not sewn since fitting became necessary. Just found this video and hope to learn too.

    Thank you so much. Going back to commercial size charts, I have noticed that some jogging pants have waist, innerseam and hip measurement but do not have total length of pants. How can we figure out the total length of the pant. Can you help, please. Thanks.

    • @SewToGrowwithLindseyRae
      @SewToGrowwithLindseyRae Před 4 lety +1

      If you want to figure out the inseam of a pant, I suggest measuring your own inseam and then comparing it to the actual pattern. Then subtract the seam allowance and hem allowance. This way you can decide if you want to shorten or lengthen the pattern before you make a mock up. I always suggest making a test garment first before adjusting the pattern too much.

    Why are shop bought sizes so much smaller than sewing pattern size please ?

    • @SewToGrowwithLindseyRae
      @SewToGrowwithLindseyRae Před 4 lety +2

      Well, there is no such thing as a standard size in the sewing or fashion industry. Basically, every company can pick what they consider to be their "standard" size and then base all their garments off of that. This is why some shops clothing fit us better than others. So I always like to teach people that the sizing on a garment is only suggestive and that making clothing for ourselves is really the only way to get a truly custom fit. :)

      It is actually hand made in Bali. My friend brought some back for me. So sorry it's not readily available.
