    I‘ve bought the exact same bike this summer, also a 2010, just in blue. I‘m a bit puzzled re. the auto-cancelling indicators as they seem to sometimes work (i.e. auto-cancel), sometimes they just stay on, so I still have to check/pay attention to them, would be great if it were a more reliable function. As a shorter guy, I struggle a little bit with the starter-button and the indicator cancel button as they both seem to be placed quite awkwardly, but I’m getting used to it I guess. Mine doesn‘t have a center stand either, not sure whether it was taken off by the previous owner. Otherwise I‘m really happy, my last bike was a 125cc Honda, so I‘m really enjoying the power-upgrade!! 😊 Thanks for sharing this video (several years ago 😅)!

      Simon Ashdown you should definitely get it. Best investment I've made so far. I'll be posting a video sometime this weekend about it. I've had it for almost a year and I've put 16,000 miles on it. So I'll be releasing another review pretty soon!

    Nice review.
    The indicators turn off automatically in round about 200 meters. So there I think the bike is measuring the distance when you use a indicator. 😀

    Hi I have the exact same bike colour etc but mine came with a grab rail on the rear tail section which makes it really easy to put on the centre stand,I’ve added some bmw soft luggage to the tank and rear of the bike as well.wish I’d seen this video before I brought it.
    For the most annoying thing is the turn signal cancel button it’s really in the wrong place if you’re riding in slow traffic you need to use it but if you’re riding fast it cancels over distance and time very quickly.overall a very good bike with excellent resale values in the future.

    Hi, Great Video. Thanks for showing everything about the Controls. I have a 2006 R1200GS that I’m Trading in a couple of Days, for a 2011 F650GS. I’m 62 now and Disabled, and I just can’t handle the Weight of the 1200 anymore. I think the F650GS will be really enjoyable to Ride. I’m not into to Speed anymore and like to just Cruise along checking out the Scenery.

    If you run 80 on the freeway for extended times, what kind of mileage do you get? Does it drop off from the 59 you were getting @ 70mph? Thx.

    Nice review. Liked the details given for the info display. Have seen many reviews but you're the first to explain in detail. Wish more people explained why they chose that bike over others. Am currently looking into getting this bike and am about the same build as you. Wish you'd mentioned the seat. Do you use the stock seat? How does it feel on long trips?
    PS. Funny comment on cancelling indicator vs horn ha ha

      Sorry it took so long to reply! The seat is not exactly the best but is live able. I've gotten used to it with time. Since this video I've put 4500 miles on the bike. You won't be disappointed! I'm looking for a seat for it but not in a big rush. I've done a couple 300 mile days no problem. I'll be posting another video soon.

    hey, i started riding motorcyle 2 years ago, i have now a 250 cc Honda Tornado (little trail/enduro bike) do you think it's a good choice to go from the honda tornado 250 to an F650 gs twin ?

    • @ErikWillie
      @ErikWillie  Před 7 lety +1

      shimo shimo'w I think that would be a wise choice! Much more power but you'll be familiar with the dual sport handling.

      i was thinking about the honda varadero, but when i drive it for like 20 km, i was impressed, it's a heavy, large and too big for me ! i wans't sure about the 650 twin but after seing almost all its videos on youtube, i guess it's time to get it.
