Greetings from south Louisiana! Here you will find a few reviews of products that I've decided to strap onto my trusty steed(s). In my collection are the current bikes: 2004 Honda St1300A, 2003 BMW K1200LT, and a 2002 BMW 1150GSA, along with two matching 1997 Honda XR80 dirtbikes that my wife rode when she was a kid. You will also find a review or two of my bike. I plan to add to the list of reviews as time goes on. Any suggestions or questions, please let me know!

BMW F650GS 2010 Review (Intro)
zhlédnutí 21KPřed 8 lety
This is my attempt at a decent introduction for the 2010 BMW F650GS. Recently purchased, and I am sharing some things that i was looking for on the internet when I was shopping for this bike. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let me know. Enjoy!
its funny how he says that he wont do math in public, although he was my 8th grade math teacher. Hi Mr. Willie!!!
How to jump it when battery is dead?
Nice review. The indicators turn off automatically in round about 200 meters. So there I think the bike is measuring the distance when you use a indicator. 😀
How do you reset the service light after oil change?
Hi im curious of givi boxes rattles in the long run, did you encounter any issues?
I never had an issue with the GIVI box on this particular bike. On my Honda ST1300 I had to put some rubber bumpers underneath it to hold it a little bit tighter to the mounting plate to keep it from rattling. It was never a big enough issue to keep me from buying another one!
@@ErikWillie Thanks man
I had this bike! I loved it. Now I have a g 310. Do you have a Snapchat that you use for daily vlogging? I love to follow my biking community on their daily rides!!
-Oh the indicator is still on.. *honk honk honk*.. damn it!!
I really like how you can open just a small section of the Top. They also look Great on the Bike, and don’t stick out much. Thanks for showing these. I think you made a very good decision to get these.👍👍
Hi, Great Video. Thanks for showing everything about the Controls. I have a 2006 R1200GS that I’m Trading in a couple of Days, for a 2011 F650GS. I’m 62 now and Disabled, and I just can’t handle the Weight of the 1200 anymore. I think the F650GS will be really enjoyable to Ride. I’m not into to Speed anymore and like to just Cruise along checking out the Scenery.
I really like how the Bike looks. The Silver Color with the New Graphics looks good. I have a 2006 R1200GS I am trading a guy for a 2011 F650GS. I’m 62 and needed to downsize to something lower to the Ground and not so heavy. I’m really seeing a lot of good reviews on these. 👍👍
I went the opposite way. This was my first bike. Traded it for an 1150GSA and worked up from there. It is now somewhere around northern Iowa. I put over 70k on it before I traded it. I should have done another review! Enjoy! Let me know if you have any questions.
I‘ve bought the exact same bike this summer, also a 2010, just in blue. I‘m a bit puzzled re. the auto-cancelling indicators as they seem to sometimes work (i.e. auto-cancel), sometimes they just stay on, so I still have to check/pay attention to them, would be great if it were a more reliable function. As a shorter guy, I struggle a little bit with the starter-button and the indicator cancel button as they both seem to be placed quite awkwardly, but I’m getting used to it I guess. Mine doesn‘t have a center stand either, not sure whether it was taken off by the previous owner. Otherwise I‘m really happy, my last bike was a 125cc Honda, so I‘m really enjoying the power-upgrade!! 😊 Thanks for sharing this video (several years ago 😅)!
I want one asap ! Somehow this bike reminds me of the millennium falcon
Thanks for the video, I just ordered a pair for my F650gs, its the older model with the twin exhausts, the box on the left does it suffer from any heat from the exhaust?
I put about 60k miles on the bike with the luggage before I sold it, and zero issues with heat!
Great review Erik, well done. This year I bought a 2010 GS 650 gs with 30,00kkms , its like new, hats off to the previous owner for taking such good care of it. I haven't done any long days on it yet and I agree the stock seat is less than ideal but I also got a Sergeant seat with it and I use an Airhawk pad so not too bad. Having had bikes with very good brakes these are not the best, it is a matter of adjusting to them, they are what they are. All in all I am very happy with it, I wanted a light weight bike with good performance and handling and it fits the bill. Its easy for me wheel around and that's important as I am going to be eighty next month. I just wish they called a 800 right from the start its tiresome having to explain its not a 650.
It’s the Swiss Army knife of mid weights! It packed me all over the country. I’ve since sold it and have an s1000xr now.
Thank you, worrying about if it would look to big on my bike (V-strom 650) is exactly the reason I ended up here 😀 I just ordered it today, it looks like it's gonna eat up a lot of stuff
You don’t regret it! It was a worthy investment
true, I just got back from a 250 km round trip and everything I need fits in it @@ErikWillie
Nice Video. Do you know the Brand and Model of your motocage? I really like this one and want to get one too for my gs :)
SW Motech I think? Either that or Puig.
When they hit zero you've got Something like point 58 galland they call that reserve. Already in the tank no valve change. 😢
Lovely bike!!! Do you think it is beginner friendly!? I am 52 years old, 183cm high with 110kg and like this BMW! Regards from Serbia 🇷🇸✌️
Hi, no rather get a F800 if you can. This bike is good but f800 is a fuller package and a bit more power. If you can rather getbthe f800GSA. Bigger tank, more planted on the ground, and stronger frame. Will carry you with grace. 650 is good for smaller riders.
No choke?
givi plate you got has 3kgs limit and box 10kg, is this a problem? confused which plate to get...
Excellent review. Thanks for sharing.
Good Mr.willie
Man, that is one good lookin ride. It looks a lot like a newer version of mine!
Hey Erik, I have a question about your bike. Any chance you can email, text or call me?
Send me an email 1erikwillie@gmail.com
@@ErikWillie Thanks man, I did.
Hello Erik, do you test waterproof in long time raining?
You're running road tyres so I take it that you don't go off road much with it or at least anything serious. Screen should only deflect the wind from around your body as that's the biggest & widest obstacle for wind resistance. Helmet doesn't matter.
Great Review!
Just bought a 2009 model and love it. It's got 12k on it and I can't wait to start doing some road trips. Thanks for the info.
hi sorry me elglish but why is 650 gs if have a motor 798cc?
mate can you make a update video after 72k miles? appreciate it
Great review. Safe ridding ohiobackroads.
I am still confused with bmw model naming. I was offered 2012 f650 800GS by used motorcycle dealer. F650 is 800cc... So does 800GS. But is there f650 800gs model? Or f650 is different than 800GS
Here is my explanation to the best of my ability. For a couple of years BMW made a 650, 700, and 800 twin. The 650 had the "least" power of the three, and a single disc brake on the front. 700 had two disc brakes and slightly more power. 800 had two disc brakes on front and adjustable suspension on some models. The 800 was also offered in an ADV model which came with a larger gas tank under the seat, and of course more power. My "650" packed me all across this country with no issues. Sure the 1200's would leave me in the straights, but I could hang with them in the curves!
@@ErikWillie thanks man..i ll probably settled with f800 2011. How is the comfort of bmw? I decided to quit on my kawasaki sport as the road here is crappy. I got a lot of back pain due to bump hitting my spine. Currently use crf250 , it is v comfortable and plushy suspension but not enough power in highway.
@@terryhari7534 What area are you from? Mine has taken me all over the country with no issues. Put a MadStad Windscreen on it, and a Sargeant Seat. It became a touring machine!
@@ErikWillie Indonesia. The city road isnt bad. But occasionally need to go to outskirt area where road isnt properly made. Additionally there is this super high speed trap that could bottom out regular sport bike
Hi great video! Do they fill pretty heavy when unloaded? Reason I ask is, I only have one arm and still ride and I’m wanting to go with a slim hard bag, instead of a big soft bags. Thank you for the video.
Thanx for the update, great mods? I just got a 2010 F650GS and as wondering which oil filter you use for your gs?
Thank you for that PERFECT rev😁👍 Now i just want one even more. Gr8 video.🤘😁
I'm pretty sure that your front tire was mounted backwards. It should have a forward direction arrow on it, but the rain channels on your tire are definitely backwards. It should still work fine on dry pavement, but it can cause hydroplaning on extremely wet roads.
Good eyes. If directional sidewalls should be thus marked.
Thanx for the great review. Going to look at one tomorrow that I might buy, same year model. This video is a great help.
I have this good medium bike not expensive 70 000 Km. No problem, only for gaz pump and the saddle.
Just bought a 2009 f650gs and looking for saddle bags
Ebay.
Thank you for specifying what kind of 650 GS you have. The naming conventions from BMW is so ridiculous it makes Harley seem normal lol. PS: That bike needs more lights!
U R the king of the road , Mate ....... Love you brother, lots of love from South India. Planning to get one fo these soon, thank you for your fffffffffffffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnntttttttttttttaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssssstttttttttttttttttttttttttttiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk presentation,
BMW F798gs!!!
I have the same Bike. Is it possible to change the screen showing from Miles & Gallons to Kms and litres
you need to harden the fuk up son
The BMW f650gs is good on the road, but it should not be underestimated off road. My brother has an older version of this bike, and I've ridden on the backseat, it's a great bike
I agree. Since this video I've done plenty of off road events with it. When I take this one off road I put the 16 tooth front sprocket on it. First gear is so tall! I need to do another video. Ive got 65k miles on it now.
That's a sexy bike.
How comfortable is the seat ? Heard some complaints with seat comfort
I replaced it with a Sargeant Saddle. Best decision ever.
@@erikwillie6219 What's the price for that?
Going to see a f650 gs 2008 this weekend, service done almost every year by the book
He wants 3500 dollar for the bike
