Looks like it is downgrade from 7000 series. It is just resistive touchscreen version of 5000 series with bigger screen. Even 5000 has capacitive touch screen.

The 8000 is a very basic radio, it's perfect for those that want a large screen, with basic features and an easy user interface. It is definitely not a flagship radio, but then neither is it's price, and the screen size/price aspect makes it a great buy

Somewhat agree, but for those who want a no frills, large screen radio, this model fits the bill, but definitely not a flashy display screen at all. Same goes for the new version, the XAV-AX8100

Not a big deal, the pricing puts this at a lower priced alternative to the Alpine Halo9 series, which also use resistive touch and also lack wireless CarPlay
