- Sony's XAV-9500ES receiver gives you a big touchscreen in your dash and fits into a single-DIN opening. And as part of their Mobile ES line, it offers a huge upgrade in sound quality, plus you can use wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, no need to plug in your phone.
Sony XAV-9500ES: www.crutchfield.com/i-rYTVc2P...
The 10.1-inch anti-glare capacitive screen on the XAV-9500ES looks great, with punchy colors and contrast. It mounts in a single-DIN opening, so you can add it to an older car. Once installed, you can adjust it for the best viewing angle and so it doesn't block your vents.
The real story of the Mobile ES line is the sound quality. Sony equips the XAV-9500ES with a premium DAC chip and a strong amplifier to help bring your music to life. You can then sculpt that sound to perfection using a variety of tools, including a 14-band EQ, DSP with time alignment, and a 3-zone crossover system.
The XAV-9500ES works wirelessly in a bunch of ways, starting with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Just leave your phone in your pocket for quick trips, and you'll have the best parts of your phone ported straight to the big, beautiful screen. For added convenience, you can use Bluetooth to play your music, or stream high-res tunes using Sony's LDAC technology.
Sony has made some great-sounding receivers with great screens over the years, but the XAV-9500ES is their best yet. It'll not only transform the interior of your vehicle, it'll transform your entire driving experience.

Good video. It amazes me that manufacturers do not understand the value of a actual rotating knob. There will never be a time when a volume KNOB is not a superior control than ANYTHING else. Make your customers happy, bring back knobs!!! ;) They should at least offer a blue tooth knob. One you could mount anywhere you wanted and connected via blue tooth. This would be the perfect compromise.
I’m with you man, the knob is so much more practical than tiny little up and down buttons to find while you’re driving. I bought my last last kenwood doubledin in part just because it had a knob
it would mess with the pure screen factor of the screen but a wireless knob or using steering wheel controls from the wheel or even doing what the new mustang mach e does with the knob over the screen would be possible
Agreed, ironically the cheapest Sony, the XAV-AX100 (or 1000) has a knob and it's brilliant.
You should make one and make a killing off it
seriously.. with bezels that big you would think they could put that in.
With those bezels they could easily fit a volume knob and normal buttons for backward/forward, this would make it perfect.
Volume knob is a must for me.
@@JP-it9ie 100%. When a good song comes on its a better feeling turning it up with a knob rather than press and hold or press press press.
Yup each press can be exponential :) I had a press volume freeze at 47 out of 50 :(
@@trucavalier haha not that its funny but man i know you were heeaated. Especially when you first turn the car on and just starts blasting aw man. I wish they had a setting that automatically resets the volume to like 5 or something whenever you restart the car.
Nah man. 1300$ as is. A volume knob would make this like 2000$.
We give you reason to upgrade next year. so JR can read another script.
But seriously. Especially in a system where the unit is up top. How is someone going to reach those buttons? I'm 6'4" with long arms, and even I struggle with front buttons sometimes.
Knob is quick. Having to keep tapping a button sucks. Not every single car has steering wheel controls.
This is a great product overview. Very clear and to the point about all the important stuff. Great job guys.
Not everything. Left out the brightness of the screen while sun is shinning on it.
I have the Xav-8000 and it was a good unit but this one is the way to go definitely, capacitive screen and usb-c + Bluetooth phone connection to android and iOS these are the main features of any car units in this time.
This was a fantastic review. I'll be subscribing now. There was no irrelevant information included and you cut straight to the point. Good stuff.
After watching this I'm somehow more excited for the older ax8100 now
GREAT review! Always wanted a Sony ES something in my car since I heard it in a decked out Maxima in the 90's. I've NEVER heard sound quality like that so if I get the RAV4 daily driver, Crutchfield will be my next stop.
Excited for you!
Did you do it I just got a Rav4
Get that RAV4 Prime, baby! Plug-in hybrid is the way to go.
Installed mine today. And let me say this thing is awesome.
Did u have a problem with gps antenna dropping signal?
Just hooked this up in my car and it is a very big difference!
That's great! 🙂
Man, this is GOOD. It’s basically the pioneer NEX that pioneer wish they could make.
I’d love to see a standard non floating dual din model of this one.
Pioneer Nex wishes they could include wireless CarPlay 😂
@@thekidblack111 they do. Their software is actually super good, the processor is just so under powered and underwhelming
wt8600nex owner here, no complaints on performance and wireless carplay works flawlessly. Happy to see Sony joining the OEM+ looking display, but lets shrink those bezels for the love of God.
@@a1ansxe how were you blessed with a unit that doesn’t suck? I don’t mean to sound harsh but it was a terrible experience for me and finding many others on the forums reporting the same issues had me ripping it out of the dash and just selling it in a hurry. Phone calls sounded weird and robotic, Siri responses were weird and deranged, wireless CarPlay range was very flaky. Some days it worked with my phone in my left pocket, some days I had to set my phone right next to the stereo.
@@stevey500 That sounds horrible! The wireless range is shit but as long as its in the cab I haven’t had an issue. All the other issues you mentioned are also non existent for me, that both on the original firmware, and the most recent that i updated to about 3weeks ago. I guess I should count my blessings.
I like that the USB-C is recessed in the back.
Ah man, I remember that CDX-C780! I had the CDX-C760 (bought from crutchfield). And man was that head unit good. I remember the wired remote that came with it. I *loved* that thing. LOVED it. And here I am 24 years later and looking a new ES. Great mention of those old ones. Glad we made it through the X-Plod era. Those original ES range was so good and we were like…. WTF happened?!
Yes, their ES gear is fantastic! 🙂
This seems like the perfect radio for me so i picked it up. I own a 2020 Toyota Corolla with all aftermarket speakers, 2 very powerful skar ZVX-12s, and both a amp for the speakers and the subs, and 2 batteries. All i need is a strong signal and equalization of the audio. I’ll update after installation.
Wouldn't the head unit itself handle the sound adjustment and control?
With his list of goodies he'll want a separate DSP. Audio Control or Rockford DSP's. What I'm wondering how much dynamat have you soaked in your car? Being 2020 it's tight now but, with Skars monster subs(if they are in a proper slot ported box) will create massive wavelengths. Doors, quarters and roof will all be flexing. Not to mention the deck lid. Every panel that vibrates your loosing SQ and DB's. One last thing 2 limitless lithium? How many hours? Did you upgrade your alternator as well that Toyota with an enormous amount of electronics help running the engine, all sensors, safety systems HD lights, that pulls a ton of amperage. Your handicapping your system and compromised your cars ability to run properly. I've been a auto collision body and painter for 31yrs also a car audio installer on the side since I was 18. I'm 50. Giving you knowledge I didn't have when I started. I currently have 2 -18" Skar EVL's in a custom built (by me) 8.2 cu.ft box in a Yukon Denali tuned to 32hz. Fosgate mids and highs front to rear. Sony 7" HD head unit. 152.89 on less than 3.5k total rms on subs. Custom panels melding everything together to make it look like it was supposed to be there.
I love Sony, but to many no's for me on that head unit. There is Zero chance that floating screen will stay on when I get over the 149 mark. I'm like most people...still knobs. I use my steering controls.
@@tangomantactical I'm sorry man but you think too much.
How'd it go?
How’s it going? Thinking about picking it up in Japan.
I bought a Sony ES A/V receiver in the early 90s & I always thought it meant "Esoteric Series".
Small correction if i may: LDAC is a codec that's used for streaming audio at higher res VIA bluetooth. Its a tech designed by Sony that allows streaming at 990Kbps (can do 330,660 and 990) so triple the usual MP3 bit rate of 320Kbps. Compared to SBC (which is what most Media Receivers use) the bit rate is superior and the sample rate is doubled. BUT that means almost nothing if the speakers that are hooked up to the system are sub par off the shelf OEM cans.
Good catch .... Our presenter is clueless.
just got mine installed. test run, it works lol. man lemme tell you the screen is SO nice (responsiveness). 100% like ipad. plastic cover still on it and all my trim is still off gotta go get my amps and sub installed tomorrow
Awesome! Let us know how you like the Sony XAV-9500ES's sound and subwoofer controls.
looks great! it reminds me Sony tablet series.... amazing design!
When will the volume knob come back?
Purchased the harnesses and maestro unit today, thank you for the help, but I was able to find this Sony 9500es for around 800 new on eBay 😅
That's a crazy amount of bezel considering the hardware's in the unit behind the screen.
Right! We love that they didn't waste materials to make the chassis bigger than it needs to be to house all the hardware
@@crutchfield i think you misunderstood lol
I fell in love with this stereo…I clicked on the link so I can purchase and the price popped up. I won’t be getting this stereo…😂😂😂
It's taken the world so long to get to this point
Hi. Can I install it on Audi A1?
Is there an aftermarket Radio that can take advantage of the 360 OEM camera that comes installed on my MG ZS EV 2023?. Thanks.
Sorry, we haven't researched that car so we have no fit information or installation items for it.
I dont understand why al head units dont have a coax or optical output...
I have this in my 2011 Chevy tahoe ltz, and when I make calls, the person I call their voice is so loud it clips and scratches, so it's hard to understand what they are saying any ideas
Which model do you have?
Nice. But I suspect it will be expensive when compared to other aftermarket Android car stereo setup in this form factor
Wish this would work for my ford Ranger in Australia, needs to have the climate controller function (sync 2 headunit )
the thing is, most of new cars don't even have the possibility of installing a aftermarket stereo like this because modern cars don't have the proper bay for the stereo. Simply car makers nowadays designs the dashboards with everything integrated and there is no option to buy the car without the factory infotainment system.
Sony gets an L for how larger those Bezels are, Wow!
Yeah reminds of alpine's "halo" line up.
Could have easily fit a volume knob in that bezel space, too. :(
Yes lol
I was actually thinking about that. This unit other than that is almost perfect!
This unit is so close for me but why doesn’t it also have wired Apple car play?
Is there an attachment I can put on to get wired Apple car play?
I want someone in the passenger seat to be able to play their music and use their Apple Maps from the getgo
I just am nervous that the wireless CarPlay wouldn’t work always and potentially be a little slow
Hi Niko, there is no option to add wired Carplay to this model. We do have other models that do support both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay. What other features do you need? What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle?
i have this in my calibra, is perfect!!
Can i install this on 2018 toyota camry ? Originally it came with 7 inch screen..is any dash kit needed to fit this sony xav 9500ES
Hi there! For the non-hybrid Camry with the factory 7" screen in that model year, there is a dash kit and some installation gear needed.
Here is a link to the items for that setup: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc313/I-rXYEc222/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=2821171
Most factory features are retained with the exception of the Aux input in the vehicle.
If you have questions, feel free to reach out any time!
where the sound come from is it like an Ipad you need to charge it or it is a replacement of the radio
This Sony unit is a replacement radio for a vehicle. It does not have any built-in speakers. It does have a 4 channel amp built in as well as preamp outputs that allow amps to be used to power the speakers.
Is there a way to remote the screen? Meaning, I want to run a cable/ribbon from the din unit to the screen and have it detached from each other.
That is not possible. The screen is designed to mount to the chassis
I'd consider one of these for a 2007 Passat B6, but I don't want to lose use of the steering wheel controls. Likewise I'd want to have the screen removable for when I park up. Do you know if the above is possible with this car?
The Sony XAV-9500ES does not have a detachable face; but, we do have interface options you can use to maintain the factory Steering Wheel Controls with it. Good day
I have a Honda Civic 2012, which stereo would you advise I get. I need a stereo that does iphone/android mirroring, with a Bluetooth, etc
The Kenwood DDX9707S receiver supports all that and can fit into the 2012 Honda Civics. Here it is:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_113DDX9707/item.html
Missing Web link ,screen mirroring would have been complete for the price of the product..please try to add the same..
Can it be moved downward? I need it to flip down or move it downward so as not to block my a/c vents
This units screen can be lowered up to 2.375" and tilted as much as 10 degrees during installation. These details and more can be found on our web page for it:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_158XAV9500/item.html
Is this plague with display wash out issues while in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto? The 5xxx series is still dealing with this with ZERO support from Sony.
@Crutchfield Does it Support Backup Camaras On Newer Vehicles?
That actually would depend on the year make and model of your vehicle and whether or not there is adapter wiring to retain your factory backup cam. 👍
Can you split screens? - ie run Google Maps and XM radio at the same time.
Yes, this screen is big enough to run split screen with the smartphone interface navigation apps and SiriusXM tuner as well.
Would this product fit a 2017 Yaris iA?.
Like in taking off the factory screen an installing this instead ?
We don't currently offer a kit to fit this model or other floating screen options in your Yaris. If you'd like help choosing another option, please let us know.
@@crutchfield damn okay haha, we’ll do you guys have anything that could possibly fit this car:)?

I was wondering if I can put this on my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder?
We will be happy to check. Did your Pathfinder come with factory installed navigation? Did it come with the Bose audio system?
It would be nice if it had like an actual volume knob but everything else is really nice
Any chance you can do a video of angles? I have a dash that has a negative curved slope. Meaning the head unit would go in at a 45 degree angel to the dash and the screen would need to push forward or towards the rear seats to be at a 90ish degree angle.
If you look at the pictures on the product page it depicts roughly the tilting capabilities. It is roughly 10 degrees forward or backward.
@@crutchfield oh okay thanks. Darn!

Can I be able to use this in my MARUTI 800 2001 Model (with 4 speed)??
We haven't researched your vehicle. It does fit a standard 2" single-DIN opening and will not fit in some vehicles due to its large 10.1" touchscreen monitor interfering with the vehicle's factory equipment on the dash.

Nice informative video sir. Read my mind on the issues I wanted answering. A little annoyed that I cannot get it in the UK yet. However: can it handle right hand drive wheel controls? If so I could import one!
We recommend checking for steering wheel radio control interfaces that work with your vehicle and Sony radios. If you can find such an interface, then you should be able to keep those controls working with this radio
An you get them UK yet?
Is the Sony obd compatible like the 10.1 jvc.
The 9500ES does have the iDatalink port for use with the iDatalink Maestro units for select vehicles, yes!
Im not very knowledgeable about car audio.......Does the EQ, crossover, ect control work through the rca cables too. I have it in my Crutchfeild shopping cart now, but I'm trying to decide on what amps to buy. If I can customize the sound before the amp, it seems I can save some money on amps.
This receiver's audio settings do control the preamp outputs on it!
Hi, do you think this would work in a 2012 Audi A6 Avant S-Line?
Due to the loss of vehicle functions when the factory radio is removed, we don't recommend replacing your radio at this time.
I love the floating screen and anti glare screen. But 1000 bu ks seems steep. Are there any budget friendly comparable options?
Sony is the only company that is adding in anti-glare tech to their displays instead of solely relying on the screen type to help reduce glare. They do make another model with similar abilities that has a lower price than the one in the video. It is the XAV-AX8100 model found here:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_158XAV8100/item.html
I was wondering if this and other floating displays like this could have the screen mounted lower, ie the mounting brackets at the top point of the screen then the bottom. I have a 94 civic and the floating displays would block my climate control, while I have endless space below.
The larger screen options like this one offer around a 2" adjustment up or down. This one offers height up/down +/- 2.375". Have you considering a smaller screen that fits inside the dash instead?
Dear sir can i install this system into maruti suzuki nexa baleno 2022 model ?? From india
Hi Ankit. I'm sorry, we have not researched that vehicle. That means we have no fit info or installation items for it. The The included source unit fits in a standard 2" single-DIN opening
Once the source unit is mounted in the dash, the 10.1" touchscreen monitor attaches to the front of the source unit using the included hardware.
Need HDMI, and for those of use who don't like the large floating screen, would like the same features in a double din please.
This deck is about the same as my sundown zv5 sub in price now that’s crazy
I don't understand much of how these systems work and I have a question. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can help. My car has volume controls on the steering. If install this will those controls still be useful?
We actually carry installation kits that are car specific and we can retain the steering wheel controls in most cars. A wiring harness is required for that. What's the year, make, and model of your car? We can show you what's required to get that Sony installed!
@MI6 Rogue
The separate iDataLink Maestro RR interface kit retains all of your OEM steering wheel controls and adds additional long press stereo control functions for each button if you want them. For instance, I assigned both the the up-and-down volume buttons to activate the MUTE function when they are long pressed. You can assign each steering wheel control button to activate any function that you want for both a short press and a long press of each button.
It has everything i've been looking for in the sony range, ahh not sold in UK. Makes sense.
This is literally the 1st Android auto video that i clicked is it really that good?
@@Zebooty by far the best one made by Sony, there are competitors that make better models with volume knobs
But my only issue is, they’re not made by Sony
Does anyone make a radio like this where the monitor sits lower or can be adjusted to sit lower? On my car this screen would block the vents above it but there is nothing under the radio but a slide out ashtray that is never used.
What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle?
I understand the quality of the audio in this product, and their emphasis for sound quality, but the fact this isn’t a multimedia unit is a bit disappointing. Considering this is Sony’s only maestro idatalink compatible head unit, the exclusion of an hdmi input and multimedia is a bummer.
+1 .. Agreed. .. Fancy EQ, big deal. . Where is the DSP ala time alignment, et cetera?
Can i use this head unit on my Alfa Romeo 159, BMW E46 or VW Sharan?
It fits a standard 2" single-DIN opening. You'll need to measure to verify the 10.1" touchscreen monitor will not interfere with your vehicle's factory equipment on the dash.

Still no optical / digital output. All the major DSP's support it, why don't more "high end" head units have them?
So the way I understand it is that Optical is digital, if you were to connect your phone (Digital) to the Head Unit (Digital) then again to the DSP which will convert the digital signal to Analog (RCAs) wont be any different than just connect your phone directly to the DSP through type C to toslink. When buying these high end Head Units you're paying a good chunk of it for the DAC built in, which I believe to be better than what most DSPs have inside of them.
@@Joe020man
It all depends on your specific vehicle and system setup. There are some specific modern vehicles such as a few certain BMW's and Audi's that are known to have EMI and/or RFI inducted noise issues when trying to install an aftermarket car audio system. It's also a problem in classic and muscle cars that have a very high output ignition spark system.
In these systems, it's a huge advantage to have a digital optical output that is isolated from the electrical system of the vehicle, which eliminates ground loops and inducted noise.
If you are going to use an outboard standalone DSP, a digital optical output is also desirable because it again mitigates inducted noise issues and ground loops, but also eliminates extra and unnecessary analog-to-digital & digital-to-analog conversions in the signal chain. In this case, Less is More.
This Sony mobile ES head unit is one of the first with a fully Independent Left & Right GEQ or PEQ in the DSP section's network mode. This is extremely important if you want to achieve a realistic and balanced soundstage that floats way above your dash in your vehicle with lifelike tonality and realism.
So if you are not going to use a separate DSP, the high quality ESS Sabre DAC in this Sony Mobile ES head unit is among the best on the market, even when compared to high end home audio equipment, and at this point in time, no other head unit has this INDEPENDENT Left & Right EQ functionality.
You don’t get hi-res audio with optical
@@cesarcervantes5840
Sorry Cesar, but you are incorrect. Yes, you can get "Hi-Res" 2-channel (stereo) digital audio via a Digital OPTICAL connection/cable, which includes Toslink Optical Cables using the Sony/Philips-developed S/PDIF protocol.
"Hi-Res" is generally defined as any digital stereo (2 channel) audio signal that provides a higher Sample Rate and/or greater Wordclock Bit Depth as compared to the Redbook CD standard of 16-bit/44.1kHz. So even 24-bit/48kHz is considered "Hi-Res".
A Digital Optical TOSlink cable (Toshiba-Link) using the industry standard S/PDIF protocol has a data rate of 125 megabits per second (Mbps) to 1.2 gigabits per second (Gbps). This bandwidth easily allows for the transmission of 2-channel Stereo at up to 24-bit at 96kHz sample rates. And FYI, the vast majority of recording studios and pop music is still produced at no higher than 24 bits at 96kHz sample rates, and often multi-tracks are just 24/48 to conserve CPU power and storage space during the mixing process.
Using the same Optical "TOSlink" cable, but with the "ADAT Lightpipe" protocol, this same Optical cable can transmit 4 Channels of Digital Audio at 24 bits at 96kHz, or 2 channels at 24 bits & 192kHz.
I actually do this Every Day in my home recording studio (I play drums/percussion & Saxophone) when recording using my MOTU 8Pre-ES USB/Thunderbolt audio recording interface connected to my computer and the PreSonus Studio One DAW/recording software.
I also connect this MOTU 24/192 8-channel recording interface to an additional separate outboard 8-channel microphone Preamp/ADC unit (the Audient ASP-880) using a single Optical ADAT connection (the exact same cable & connectors as an Optical TOSlink cable) to add 8 More Channels of Uncompressed digital PCM audio recording at 24 bit resolution & 48kHz sample rates, or 4 channels at 24 bits & 96kHz sample rates. ALL over a Single OPTICAL Cable.
Again, in the Recording Industry, "Hi-Res" is generally regarded as anything higher than the Redbook CD standard of 16-bit/44.1kHz.
Please refrain from posting misleading information if you do not know the facts.

would this fit into a 2017 mazda cx3?
We are not able to install this receiver into your 2017 Mazda CX-3. We do have a couple receivers that can be installed into it. You can find them by using our online vehicle fit guide:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/car/carselector.aspx
It doesn't move out the way when needed? Its a huge screen and will probably block something else on the dash.
The monitor does not move after being installed. During the installation, it can tilt up/down(+/- 10 degrees, be moved forward/backward +/- 0.75" (changes how close the screen is to the dash), move vertically up/down +/- 2.375", and lateral left/right +/- 1.0" to help find the optimal installation location for the vehicle its going into.
Where is the microphone? Or does it rely on the phone for voice input?
Hi, Kirk, and thanks for reaching out! The microphone for that Sony unit is external and is included in the box. It has a 12' cable for routing.
If we can help with other questions, feel free to reach out any time!
Only thing missing is a integrated dash cam with recording in both front and rear
Chinese radio for $150 do it, while sony charges $1000 lol
Is it easy to take the screen off when not driving the car? I want to install this on my classic mini but I’m afraid of it being stolen since it will be so obviously not stock
The Sony XAV-9500ES does not have a detachable face.
yes, the sony xav-9500es face detaches with 4 screws ez pz
Thank you very much
They don't even sell the es series in Australia. Sad
Hello ! Does it have Tidal or can you install it ? Thx !
You cannot install apps onto the Sony XAV-9500ES radio. Using your compatible Android or Apple phone you can use Carplay or Android Auto (wirelessly) and listen to Tidal, with the app displayed on the Sony's touchscreen.
Will this stereo fit for 2021 Volkswagen Jetta RLine ?
At this time, we do not have the installation gear necessary to install a receiver into the 2021 VW Jetta's. That may change in the future and if it does, we will update our web site to show it when using our online vehicle fit guide found here:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/car/carselector.aspx
I have an existing 2012(ish) Alpine CDA117Ri single Din in the dash currently. I wa slooking to replace it with a floating unit like this. Some people have said that the existing cages are insufficient to secure these large floating screens and you need to re-enforce the mounts. This is a challenge in the dash I have, could you provide guidance on your experience ?
We don't research custom work like this and rely on the mounting brackets we offer to secure the radio. Some of those mounting brackets only work with radios that use the din sleeve (or din cage) and cannot support a radio like this one.
We will be happy to check what options we have for your vehicle. What is the year, make, and model of it?
@@crutchfield Thank you for taking a moment to respond. I am not expecting you to have a lot of luck on this one hence the more generic request. It is a Morgan Aero 8 Coupe and so the room behind the dash is extremely tight. It has the Alpine driving directly to the 4x6 (component door) & 1 dome tweeters on the edge of the dash. There are a pair of 6x9 in the rear panel so it is out of it's depth. I was also looking for Wireless CarPlay and camera as the car does not have the clearest rear view! www.tm-img.com/images/2022/08/24/IMG_0824.jpg - current dash. czcams.com/video/OR6lwpfte9Q/video.html the car.
Thanks for the photo! Looks like that is a standard DIN radio in there now, so it's likely you can fit the chassis on this model easily. Keep in mind, you will want to take a look to verify the screen will not interfere with anything as well. The "floating" touchscreen display monitor measures 10.635" (w) x 6.695" (h) x 1.265" (d). It protrudes approximately 4.75" above the single-DIN source unit chassis.
i dont get carplay and android auto when normal BT works just fine
Will it work with JBL system, can I stream movies from my phone on to it
This receiver will not stream movies from a smartphone or mirror a smartphone. It can work with vehicles that have upgraded audio systems like a JBL Audio system as long as there are parts made to install a radio like this one into it. What is the year, make, and model of your vehicle?
Does anyone know a good budget head unit with good sound quality
We will be happy to help! What is the year, make, and model of the vehicle this is going into? Does it have steering wheel radio controls that you want to keep working with the new radio?
Does this work with CRV 2016 EX L? Will the side view camera works with this Unit?
Hi, Vishy! To get the right version of the vehicle, how many speakers (including tweeters) did it come with from the factory? And did the vehicle come with factory navigation?
@@crutchfield It comes with 6 speakers. It do not have factory navigation.
It is possible to install this receiver into your CRV and keep the lane change camera when its installed using the iDatalink Maestro Radio Replacement module. Here's a cart prepared with this Sony radio and those install parts:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=2816752
I have a 06 handa accord, yes I know its old thank you.. 😊 will this Sony works with an 13 yr old car ?
We do offer the gear to install this into the different versions of the 2006 Honda Accords. Our vehicle fit guide can help with getting the correct installation parts for it:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/car/carselector.aspx
can i put this in an old jaguar? i have a 1990 xj
We do not have installation gear to help secure this receiver in the dash or any gear to help with the wiring part of the installation. There should be enough room in the dash so that a custom installer might be able to make a mounting kit to hold this radio in place.
It will block my air vent if to high if to low it blocks controls to my a/c do they make a 7in model
This isn't the exact same model but is an Apple CarPlay/Android Auto floating screen receiver too--it's a little smaller with an 8.95" screen: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc384/p_158XAV8100/Sony-XAV-AX8100.html?tp=78184
We don't have a 7" Sony option in this style; but, our advisors can help you find a better fit. Please reach out at your convenience: www.crutchfield.com/I-rIGRc921/support/ContactUs.aspx

Looks great. If it had a volume knob I would be interested.
We do have other options with a knob Would you like help choosing?
Can a camera me installed and viewed on the screen?
The Sony Mobile ES XAV-9500ES is equipped with 3 composite video camera inputs for connecting multiple cameras (including a rearview and front camera - sold separately). You can manually select and switch between the camera images on the 10.1" monitor (only one camera image can display at a time).
How does this compare to Alpine and Pioneer’s offerings?
A couple notable highlights are:
"[Built-in] LDAC technology which allows you to *wirelessly* stream audio from compatible devices at 96 kHz / 24-bit sampling, which is a significant improvement over conventional Bluetooth streaming."
"...the HD LCD is bonded directly to the protective glass touch layer with a transparent adhesive, so you'll get a precise touch experience as well as enhanced contrast and visual performance."
"A 192-kHz / 24-bit DSP offers excellent sound processing and precision time alignment. A 14-band EQ gives you control over the 6 output channels, and each channel also sports an 8-band parametric EQ."
Check it out, it's quite a cool piece of gear! www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc384/S-1dImCconGsN/p_158XAV9500/Sony-XAV-9500ES.html
It needs some more physical radio controls, volume knob namely
Will it go with the dash of a Skoda Yeti ?
We are not able to research the Skoda Yeti vehicles as they are not released in the USA market. We recommend checking with a local installer for help
be nice if there was a pause / mute button on the top with the rest of the physical controls
You can actually customize what you want those top buttons to do--mute is one of the options!
