How to Make the Grasshopper Cocktail
The Grasshopper Cocktail was apparently created by Philibert Guichet Jr., the owner of Tujaque's bar in New Orleans. As the story goes, it was submitted as an entry to a New York cocktail contest which was held, amazingly enough, in 1928 just before Prohibition was repealed. It is reported to have won second place. (Source: Roy F. Guste, Jr. "The Restaurants of New Orleans") Some other sources refer to the contest happening in 1919 however, just prior to Prohibition. However since one of the reported judges was Walter Winchell, who's career didn't really start until 1920, it is more likely that the contest happened during Prohibition.

"i suppose you could use a low fat non fat cream but um, ehhhhh whats the point" touché Mr. Hess
Mr. Hess serves this cocktail in a champagne coupe glass. The grasshopper cocktail at Tujaque's in New Orleans is served in a tall, stemmed wine glass. The Tujaque's recipe also includes White Creme De Menthe, and whole milk.
Looks delicious. Cant wait to make this cocktail for my mother in law. She loves milder smoother cocktails.
I've always wondered what cocktail came in first place at the competition?
i remember when i was young i saw the episode of the Simpson's where Bart was a bartender for the mafia, and i found out so cool and i always wanted to know how to make all certain kind of drink cause i think it would neat.
I've actually made this drink twice now. The first one was about a month ago, and the second time was last night. This time I decided to add a dash of chocolate bitters( I used Fee brother's), and I think it made it taste even better it gave the drink a slight chocolate flavor.
f00dify **OoooH La La sounds so good gonna havE to tRy thaT.!!**
I have made plenty of grasshoppers and they are delicious. Sometimes I would add Bailey's Irish Cream to the mix, decadent.
One of my favourite drink! Found a version with extra cognac and it is amazingly delicious! What other drinks are out there similar to this one?
Monika **Send me the linK to thaT CogNaC veRsioN I'd lovE to tRy thaT.!!!** 🙏🍻😈
Very well done thank you..
What Cocktail received 1st place ??
Anybody know which cocktail took first place in that competition?
Say wasn't Grasshopper the character that David Carradine played in the Kung Fu tv series ?
Good work... Thanks. :)
Liquid chocolate mint icecream
Agreed! Even great chefs like a good beefy hamburger every now and then.😋
Add some cocoa bitters to that bad boy
I cant drink one anymore without
peppermint schnapps??
would be weird to drink cocktails that you didn't have fun with!
Love that drink. Quick question, if you're "Drink Boy" then where's "Bar Keep"?
try this recipe!
45ml of creme de cacao
10ml of creme de menthe
20ml of creamer
20ml of milk
dash of simple syrup
using reverse dry shake. it really does make this drink taste a slightly less sweeter than the original 1:1:1 version
safe to assume you don't get a buzz drinking a dozen glasses of this...what's the point
It would come out to about 16% abv or more
1:50
👎🚮😠
You just buy the clear creme de menthe and get some green food coloring
I think it would be killer with100 proof shnapps
haw do you breath in space in the mod
You could garnish it with dead crickets!
The way he says creme de menthe annoys me more than it should lol
So I'm 11 and I like a grasshopper I've had two so far and they r good
