  • Today I will be showing you how tune a 30 series converter. I will show you the parts you need for different setups for different applications as well as explain them. Nothing is set in stone on setting up a conveter, theres too many variables to consider, but what there is is some basic guidelines and tips.
    Thanks for watching.

    This helped me a lot. I didn't know what I was doing and bought a bunch of Chinese junk not realizing. Now I am doing the backwork and "modifying" my Chinese junk. Lol I know the metal and welding is better on the name brand things. As thing fall apart I will be replacing with quality products. Thank you for explaining this.
    Just got a bloody go kart and it's nothing like a scooter. You should of seen my face when I realized there were no rollers. I was so disappointed. I had all this gear but couldn't use it.

    when you drag race, wouldn't you want that spring in the position to DELAY the shift from lo to hi to allow the engine to rev up in its powerband as much as possible? I think you have that backwards but honestly im still cornfused on this stuff a bit lol

    What is the best way to get the driven pully not to slip? I've tried green, red, yellow on the driven in the different holes and if I go full throttle off the line (on a stock 196cc) it slips like crazy. I like how the yellow in the middle hole on the driven with the comet blue springs on the drive works but it still slips. I've even go as far as add a mount to keep the plate from flexing which did reduce the chatter. I've tried a few belts... is there one that works best? I can't find one of the juggernauts in stock so I ordered a clone on amazon to see if that is better.

    Lol 😆 I just watched this again just for the cats acting up! I gotta link people over to this video next time I'm trying to explain this stuff. I got my Predator 79 to launch great on a torque converter with aluminum weights, blue spring and yellow driven. It's still a 79 but very legitimate at looking harmless....😏

    Give a Juggernaut a try. I fooled with springs and weights forever and never could get it where I wanted it. Popped the Juggernaut on and it was perfect out of the box.

    • @mlindsay527
      @mlindsay527 Před 2 lety +1

      Yes it is just the driver and will work with any 30 Series setup. Just be sure to use the right number of spacer washers to get it to line up with the driven pulley. It is not more "powerful" but it prevents belt slip and downshifts faster than a Comet style, so when you let off and then get back on it, you have all your torque. It also allows the engine to rev higher.

    What would be an idea combo for an offroad kart? Tillotson 212 with stage 1, 6" driven. Not concerned about top speed. Need hill climb torque and acceleration out of sharp turns. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @minibikegarage1577
      @minibikegarage1577  Před 3 lety +1

      The tilly 212 and stage 1 will be good but I I would suggest a 7 inch driven set up. There's more torque with it but you have to buy a new jackshaft off nmi karts. That and a 10t jackshaft sprocket and 60t rear sprocket should make it a torque monster. Adjust the driven pulley spring to the tightest position and order a set of 3100rpm stall springs for the driver clutch and you'll have a perfect small block offroader

    I have a mini XRS with a ghost predator engine on it and a series 30 torque converter what sprocket sizes should I use as well as springs and weights the rider is probably 60 lb so the whole thing combined is still less than 200 pounds machine and driver it's going to be written mostly semi off-road trails and such the tires I believe the biggest they would be is 16 to 18 in smallest 13 in

    • @minibikegarage1577
      @minibikegarage1577  Před 2 lety

      I can't really say about the 16s or 1es since I haven't ran em before but. For the 18s I'd recommend a 9/50 or a 8/ 50. A 9t on the front sprocket would make a good street riding set up. The 8t on the front would be good for offroad and extra torque. I'd recommend a 3000rpm spring in the clutch for good response and acceleration. And a the middle spring tension setting on the rear pulley. That should get you started.
