BBC Wales - Wales Football World Cup Promo

Under Terry Yorath in the early 90s the Wales football team enjoyed a renaissance, and were desperately unlucky not to qualify for a major finals. Finishing second behind Germany in the 1992 european championship qualifiers and then going agonisingly close to reaching the world world cup finals in the US in 1994. A feature of the world cup campaign was a song adopted by Wales supporters - Can't Take My Eyes Off You, a top 5 hit in the UK for US singer Andy Williams in 1967. Qualification for the 1994 World Cup came down to Wales final match with Romania in Cardiff on Wednesday November 17th 1993, and with Wales' games then still broadcast on terrestial tv, BBC Wales - who would broadcast the match - produced this memorable promo ahead of the game
