South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut Movie Description:
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut is a 1999 American adult computer-animated musical comedy film based on the animated sitcom South Park. The film was directed by series creator Trey Parker from a screenplay co-written with series co-creator Matt Stone and Pam Brady; and stars Parker, Stone, Mary Kay Bergman, and Isaac Hayes, all of whom reprise their roles from the series, with George Clooney, Eric Idle, and Mike Judge in supporting roles. The plot follows Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny as they sneak into an R-rated film starring the Canadian comedy duo Terrance and Phillip, after which they begin swearing. When the consequent moral panic culminates in the United States declaring war on Canada, Stan, Kyle and Cartman take it upon themselves to save Terrance and Phillip from execution, while Kenny tries to prevent a prophecy involving Satan and Saddam Hussein's intent to conquer the world.
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut premiered at Grauman's Chinese Theater on June 23, 1999, and was released theatrically in the US and Canada the following week by Paramount Pictures, with Warner Bros. handling international distribution. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its story, soundtrack, humor and themes. Produced on a $21 million budget, it grossed $83.1 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated animated film until 2016. At the 72nd Academy Awards, the song "Blame Canada" was nominated for Best Original Song, but lost to Phil Collins' "You'll Be in My Heart" from Tarzan.

When the arbitrary swearwords reach a multiple that can be counted on your ten fingers, it's now the same as a sex film. Reminds me of a horror film that got NC-17 until reshot because they considered a murder victim's death scream "too erotic." Also another reason I don't support the metric system; learn to count outside of tens.

This is an all-time great movie. The first time I saw it I laughed so hard my stomach started hurting. This movie was a big deal and I don't think anyone expected it to be THIS uh...vulgar. I remember right around the late 90's when South Park started taking off it was a cult hit and parents absolutely HATED it with a passion. The popular thing at school was wearing a South Park tshirt and they eventually banned them because so many parents complained. South Park is still alright, but back in the day it was edgy when there was very little competition so it was really seen as a horrible influence.

I'd have to say my favorite songs are Kyle's Mom's a Bitch, La Resistance (a hilarious nod at Les Miserables - I definitely like this South Park musical more than Les Miserables, though), and Satan's song. They're the ones that get stuck in my head the most, at least. My favorite South Park episode has to be Woodland Critter Christmas (season 8 finale). I also love a lot of the episodes where Butters plays a big role (Good Times with Weapons, AWESOM-O, The Death of Eric Cartman, Marjorine, Butters' Bottom Bitch, etc).

Almost every song in this is a parody from something. The opening song is the opening to "Beauty and the Beast", "Uncle #$÷@&*" parodies "Oklahoma", the Les Mes song, a song from "Rent", Kyle's mom parodies "It's a Small World", there's a few I'm missing, but I'm sure someone wrote an article about it somewhere. 😂

"What did Kenny do to deserve going to hell?" The quick answer is: he skipped church to see a movie.

On bit of an ironic note about a film that deals with themes like censorship, this film originally got an NC-17 rating by MPAA, which, by the way, actually gets lampooned in the film itself in another bit of an ironic twist. To no one's surprise I'm sure, Matt Stone and the director Trey Parker got into a massive dispute with MPAA and the film's rating eventually got lowered from NC-17 tp R. Really goes to show that a film can get into all sorts of ironic twists.

    A couple fun facts:
When watching South Park, you can sometimes see what Kenny is saying when you turn on the subtitles. More so during the newer stuff. Kenny's lines are actually written out for Stone and Parker.
Parker and Stone are big into music. They even have a Tony-winning Broadway show called The Book of Mormon. Might wanna check out their 25th Anniversary concert at the Red Rocks in Colorado.
Many news people in the early seasons were completely crazy like The Quadriplegic Swiss Man on a Pony, A Good Looking Guy with a Funny Name (Creamy Goodness), and others like that.
As far as my favorite song in this, it's got to be La Resistance. Overall best song for me has to be Let's Fighting Love from the episode Good Time With Weapons. An entire episode made in a Japanese anime style.

Fun Fact: The song “Blame Canada” was nominated for Best Song at the Oscars but lost to Phil Collins for “You’ll be in my Heart” from Tarzan. The creators of South Park said that they knew they were gonna lose but were shocked it was to Collins. As a way to show their frustration, they made an episode mocking Collins and his Oscar victory.
