This wasn't our first time in Poland, but it was our first time together in the city of Gdansk!

We're super excited to share this trip around countries 88, 89, and 90đ This was back in June so our video backlog is definitely growing...đ We're doing our best to catch up!!
It is a pity I did not know you where in my country! POLAND!!!
I reckon you have plenty of fans in POLAND! Perhaps you wilk make some meeting with fans.

I spent 3 weeks in Poland last year and had the BEST time. It really surprised me and itâs now one of my favorite countries in Europe
Wow! How nice to see your comment here. I loved your Poland videos and definitely missed seeing the rest of your trip. Hope all is well.
I spent in Poland over 50 years đ

I love Gdansk! We visit almost every year when we drive to the Open'er Festival. I've been to Poland many times, and it's a very beautiful and welcoming country. Great seeing your impressions :) Cheers from Lithuania, guys
Remember to visit next time Pol'and'Rock festial aka Woodstock. It will be 29th festival and it is free for viisitors.

Yeah all that beautiful German architecture is really a sight to behold

This video moves Poland up on my list. Bill Bryson thinks Poles are the friendliest people on earth.
This is a bit exagerrated. We are quite reserved but I guess once we get to know you it changes (we treat our friends with honest friendliness).
@@TheEmpress185 both of you simply lack the experiences abroad and were taught to berate your nation and yourself...

The architecture in Europe is so amazing compared to the the US... đ€©đ€©đ€©
This is a particularly stunning city!
That's good. Each place is different and that's why is exciting to explore.
Don't worry. Now it is also impossible to get to know the place in Europe by the new buildings. All built in one style
As a Polish-American, there is beautiful architecture in the US too.
US is amazing in its own way. stop insulting America on an American website. Its not cool.
It looks so clean and well-maintained.
That's what you get when you have a homogeneous society.
other city's also are kept this way in Poland.cheers :)
It doesn't look clean and well maintained. It actually is like that in entire Poland.
Bonus info for all from Americas and SOME (not all) Western Europe countries: If you ask Poles if it's safe there they will not understand the question. Like... why would you even ask? So don't even bother because they simply don't get the sad reality in places you live. It's completely different than in your countries and safety topic doesn't exist in public dispute.
@@paulie_one_eye I see people asking the same question about pretty much every city/country, like if it's safe here in Prague and if it's safe to travel around country when you are black and such questions. You are right that native people are really confused by such questions, if they speak English and know something about world, they will probably get what you asking for, but if not, they will be just confused, they will ask you to be more specific like if you mean safe like if we have some dangerous animals, snakes or something like that or you mean safe like if there is a lot of car accidents or something. The fact that in some countries, there are places in your city you can't visit is just bizare for us.
@@Pidalin yeah, Iâm always very amused reading comments under YT vids made by Americans in Poland posted by another Americans like âyes, I confirm, very nice country and safeâŠâ. I stopped being surprised. It just became funny. They are shocked that nobody will shoot them for their smartphone and wallet or - especially in Poland - nobody is going to cook and eat black people. But if you look at some documentaries from the streets of LA or Philadelphia youâre no longer surprised.
I went to Warsow and Krakow last June and it was a great experience. I want to be there again to explore more of Poland.
Welcome to Poland !!!Great video :)đ”đ±â€đžđȘ
Memories. When i visited Gdansk, those modern buildings by the river were being built. Good to see the final results.
You should come to Warszawa. Where you have modern city with high scrapers and old city in one.
Gdansk looks GORGEOUS! It reminded me a lot of Amsterdam and the homes on the canals. I hope to visit one day! I hope the rest of your travels are exciting! Can't wait for the next vlog!
It reminds you of Amsterdam because in the past there were many Dutch settlers there and therefore GdaĆsk bears many Dutch influences.
It looks the way it does because the majority of the population was German until 1945
Amsterdam looks like Gdansk because in 16century Commonwealth of Poland there was huge export an enormous quantity of pinewood logs that were necessary for foundation enginering..Every piles were driven into muddy ground. More than 75% of Amsterdamse city is built for it..Placed on pinelogs from Poland. And people what traweled then exchanged building style.
Dan, thank you that you mention there are many beautiful cities in Poland. Our rural areas are magnificent too :)
Poland is classified as a high-income economy by the World Bank, ranking 19th worldwide in terms of GDP (PPP) and 22nd in terms of GDP (nominal).
Only recently though, thus many western europeans still think we're stuck in the 1985 or sth ;D
Yeah and GDP (PPP) per capita ranked 41. below Czech Rep, Cyprus and Lithuania
@@quant2011 Well, Gdp ppp is always higher for small countries like Czech Rep, Cyprus or Lithuania. With this criteria, Liechtenstein is the richest country in the world.
@@bartoszbrown1322 thatâs very true. However, I actually prefer people thinking that Poland is âless thanâ, it makes the rest of us who are smarter able to enjoy the country without it being overrun and overpriced. Poland is the best kept secret. đ€«
In reality people are still poor in comparison to e.g Germany and now we are hit with a high inflation :/

I've come to realize that Poland although a much poorer country in many ways is actually much more open to innovation and digitization than Germany or Austria where pen, paper and hard cash are still regarded in high value.
Yes. Poland is much further ahead on digital payments than United States. (Not sure about Germany or Austria) You still have older folks in US using checks and some companies are paying people in checks. Cash is king in US. Also, United States still uses chip in cards most of the time. Contact less is an option but its rarely used, doesn't work in many places, and is super slow. Even random bakeries in Poland have contact less that is always fast. People also pay with their Apple watch or phones. Very rare in the United States right now unless you are maybe in San Francisco.
Yes! Once we wanted to buy tickets to a concert in Berlin, and we could not, for the love of god, find the option to receive the digital ticket copies into our emails. Finally, I called one of my friend in Berlin and she explained that you have to mail them by post (obviously, you have to be a local Berlin resident for the fees to be cheap rather than mailing abroad). Apparently this is pretty common thing in Germany still. So strange :D
@@Pievineju1993 I went to an event at the National Stadium in Warsaw for the first time and everyone had a printer out ticket. I guess it is out of old habit because I easily got in with my phone. A weird situation where the stadium is ready for new change but the people are somehow stuck in the past. Hard to explain since everyone is all digital for payments.
That is true!
The Eastern European countries have been very eager to modernize after the Cold War, while Germany is far more conservative in some ways. I remember some years ago I visited Gdansk, and they had contactless payments everywhere, before it was introduced in my homeland Norway, which is a very digital and cashless country.
As a Polish person itâs so lovely to read all of these comments fawning over my country ahaha

aww..you guys are so cute!
Cute couple, great editing and an amazing Gdansk!
It was such a pleasure to know that both of you enjoyed my country so much.
Gdansk must be beautiful in winter too...
ehh, we have only max 5 snow days in Gdansk so 98% of winter time it's only cold and dark
It is, I've been there many times bcus my family lives there, but so far I've only visited Gdansk in winter once. And it was great, the atmosphere was somewhat dramatic? I mean, imagine walking in an old town, passing by all those ghotic buildings, in a stormy very dark weather. I spent around a week there, this year in January. And I was lucky enough to get 4 hours of snow lying on the ground (our winters aren't really as cold and freezing as it is portrayed in media and coastal areas tend to be even milder)
@@konradpalczynski6786 Oh ok, thanks for the heads up!
during snow yeah but gdansk doesnt get as much snow as say the polish mountains. Would recomend places down south ( close to the mountains) if you want a winter wonderland kinda vibe. Zakopane is the most well know but its also the biggest tourist trap and most expensive but there are others just as great if not better but less well known
