Brent, as someone who struggles daily with depression and anxiety myself, I admire your courage to be open about your mental illness. Professional counseling helped me a great deal as well as a solid support structure of people who were there to encourage and listen to me. It's never easy, but it does get a little better. Stay strong my friend. You are a hero.

This is one of the most important lessons I've learned in therapy. Your emotions are valid even if you think the reason for having those emotions may be illogical, try not to beat yourself up about it. Sometimes when I feel anxious about something, I tend to feel really dumb about it and almost like disappointed in myself? Like I should somehow know better, and that makes me feel even worse.. it becomes an endless vicious cycle. It's important to be gentle with yourself and give yourself some grace, something I'll always be working on :)

Woohoo! I’ve been waiting! I have anxiety and depression, and take meds for both. I always give myself something to look forward to a week, months, and years in advance. As well, when I feel myself falling into a slump I literally talk to myself saying “come on you can do it…”. Then I find somebody to serve / do something nice for them. Service to others seems to work well. Hang in there, bro!

I suffer from depression and a piece of advise I try to live by came from my best friends Italian mother. She always says, "Don't worry about tomorrow. Deal with what you have to for that day. Tomorrow is a new day that will take care of itself." It's helped me through a lot of difficult times. Cheers.

I’m bipolar and have anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. My counselor is the one thing that has helped me other than my meds. That release I feel when I can vent and know that I’m truly being heard is priceless. She reminds me of how well I’m handling trials in my life when I don’t think I am and it surprises me every time. You do have to have a counselor that you trust and feel comfortable with though. God bless and hang in there. I’ve found that peacefulness is so important and I seek it always.

Hi Brent, having the same problems I know that some days can be hard. Over the years I learned to accept having good and bad days. On bad days I try to stay calm by doing sports and be outside as much as possible. And also keeping in mind that most fears are not related to real threat can help. I found a way to live with it after ten years of therapy and a lot of support from my family. And detailing cars is also always very therapeutic for me. Keep going and stay safe .

I understand the anxiety struggle. One of the best coping strategies I’ve learned is to remind myself during the bad times: not every day will be like this. Even on the days when the idea of getting out of bed makes my BP spike, just remember that not every day will be like this. It helps me breathe normally again, too. I wish you well, and if you’ve been prescribed meds, don’t skip them just because you’re feeling better! Hugs!

I used to have bad anxiety and insomnia. 9 years ago I started doing Hot Yoga (Bikram), which is 90 min yoga classes in a studio that's 105 degrees and 50% humidity (Yea I know it sounds awful, but honestly you get used to it.). I've done it 3-5 times a week since I started in late 2012, and I feel 1000 times better mentally and physically. The anxiety and insomnia were both gone within a few weeks of starting and hasn't come back - I truly believe it has changed and leveled out my body chemistry. I highly recommend it to EVERYONE!
By the way, you guys are amazing ! Watching your videos is so relaxing and satisfying - a close second to hot yoga :)

Hi Brent. First of all, another brilliant video! The detailing skills that you and RJ have are absolutely amazing and I always watch your films. Thankyou for speaking up about your anxiety. It's a horrible thing when it gets you, and it's so important that we have a wider discussion around it. You are doing a brilliant thing by talking about on your channel rather than ignoring it or glossing over it. That takes lots of balls and you will already have helped others just by mentioning it. You know this already, but be kind to yourself and give yourself however much time you need, without pressure. Sending you lots of love from the UK.

Hello from Northern Ireland. I have struggled with anxiety for many years. For me, I have been on a journey of self awareness and self care. I couldn’t have embarked on that journey without being a part of a small mens group that we formed. It’s simply a group that meets once a month to share and hear each other. A safe place where men connect….no bull. My Christian faith has also helped as have my family. BTW the idea that as a Christian I shouldn’t anxious is nothing but a lie. Praying you are finding the support and help you need, things will get better.

Yes, I have anxiety and have had multiple incidences since very young. Happens mostly when in bed at night. I'll get up feel my heart beating fast, take slow breaths thru my pursed lips and calm my self down not thinking of the "fear", for me, it's stopping breathing, for some reason, and just keep doing that until my heart rate lowers and I'm getting calmer. 🙏🏼WD Detailing, just found the channel today 2/22/2022, luck numbers? Many people suffer hidden issues, just because they aren’t visible doesn’t mean that it doesn’t matter. Your struggles do matter and talking with someone or a therapist of some sort trained in Behavioral therapy can definitely help. I’ve struggled with different issues over the years and one of the biggest things that helped me was writing. It can be journaling, poetry or just writing down words that you randomly think of. It’s like a mood board for your mental health. Self reflection can help as you can see what triggers you or helps you in a better place. Music has always been the greatest therapy when combined with taking a drive somewhere. Combining those things can help and choose a place that is peaceful, sort through your thoughts as you drive and let your feelings out. My family was almost always a stress trigger for me and I got rid of toxic people and have a much better time at managing my issues.

I'm a truck driver, and I have anxiety disorder. I couldn't sleep one night, and as a result I had to stay shutdown for a day... with a load that was do that day still hooked up. I ended up not telling my job why I was tired that day, but just that I was tired. I know how hard it can be. I was kicked out of high school for attendance due to anxiety disorder (amongst other things). The best advice I can give is to focus on what YOU need to get through the day when you have to. If you can't work, that's on them, no matter how your employer behaves about it. It's your time they're asking for, not the other way around (though you wouldn't know it these days). Take a buddy with you when you go places. Idk why but it helps if you have social anxiety like I do. There is something comforting knowing I have someone to check me of the things I'm anxious about. Also, let people know how you're feeling. I end up telling strangers I have anxiety all the time. They're usually pretty understanding (sometimes other truckers feel like my anxiety is a reason for me not to drive trucks, despite me explaining all the time that it's social and not situational, and that I don't have any effects that would hinder my ability to safely operate the vehicle, and if I did, I wouldn't be cleared by dot), and when they aren't it's a good excuse to stop talking to them. Having enough time to yourself is another important one as well. Sometimed you need time to just let down that wall and be free if that makes sense. That's one of the things I love about my job.

I have crazy bad anxiety.. I get so worked up and don't know what to do. All I can say is do your best to breath. Go to a quiet place.. usually after about 15 minutes or so those tense feeling start to subside.. if you ever need help, please go to the hospital or talk to somebody. Don't ever feel ashamed, I've spent alot of time in the hospital dealing with my demons. I'm just glad I'm still here.. I know it's hard but just try and keep on keeping on man. Take care, lots of love from Sask Canada

Brent I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles. I also struggle with acute anxiety and it can be debilitating. My absolute best advice is to look into some sort of meditation. Meditating actually teaches your brain how to mimic the brain waves you produce when you're asleep. So you are literally teaching your brain how to chill out. You can meditate in so many different ways, that's why I like to watch detailing videos. They are my way to help my brain relax. Really hope this helps you!

A long time ago I was Behavior specialist. Even before that I drank heavily. One of the things that helped me greatly was learning Transcendental Meditation in college. I stopped drinking and smoking completely, and part of me that was asleep began to wake up slowly more and more over time. I can tell you that learning meditation was one of the most important things in my life. Another thing that you can do when you're experiencing anxiety is to place your intention on your body. What part of your body feels the anxiety? Just place your attention in that area. Yes, I also have experienced depression and anxiety. There is another subtle distinction between stuffing a feeling or thought, and simply dropping the thought and going on to another thought. There really is a difference. Also, both exercising and doing even little things as an achievement is helpful. These are things that have helped me and continue to help me. I hope that they are also useful to you.

100% understand, I have generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder and have had countless days where I just can't function. The best advice I can give is seeing a therapist that you connect with and trying medication. Anxiety and depression is no joke, and I feel for you as I also deal with anxiety pretty bad myself, it's affected my personal life, professional life, and any relationship I've been in. It's even harder to deal with when the people in your life don't understand what it's like and expect you to just get up and shrug it off like a little scrape, but it doesn't work that way at all, it's already hard enough, like being in the bottom of a mud pit and instead if helping, people are greasing the walls making it 100 times harder to get out of. What's almost just as hard for us who deal with depression and anxiety is to realize we actually have most of the material and tools to build our own ladder out of the greased wall mud pit, we just need to learn how to use those tools and how to read the blueprints, and not everyone's tools and blueprints are exactly the same, but they do have the same foundation. I haven't quite figured everything out for me, and may never, buy I at least have an understanding about my basic building blocks that I can withstand most days I struggle. The biggest bit of advise I think I can give is to just not completely give up, if you need time to destress and clear out the bugs, take that time and allow yourself to re-center, but then get up and move forward because the longer you stay in that mud pit, the harder it is to get out. Be safe and much love to anyone else dealing with anxiety and depression.

My daughter struggles with anxiety as well and what has helped her is a service dog that she got. The dog has been trained to detect when she begins to feel anxious and the dog will go sit on her chest. For some reason, the weight on her chest or the companionship she has with her dog makes her feel better. I think that just feeling like you’re not alone helps her.

I struggled with anxiety my entire life. it's not easy to give advice on this matter as everyone is different but if you make me, I will say this.. You only have one life, make the most of it, Enjoy the moments big and small, the success and the failures equally, for it is the sum of all these that makes life sweet. Let go of your fears and perfectionism and embrace everything that life throws at you, and you would be better for it

I have depression but only mild anxiety at the worst. Thus I can't quite imagine what a full blown anxiety attack is like. My anxiety will keep me from doing stuff that I am too afraid of, even if doing it would be a good thing for me. The person who suggested doing something good for another person is on to something I think. The focus has to shift from yourself somehow. My belief in a caring God also helps alot.

@@WDDetailing to begin I actually listened to some guided CZcams meditations by The Mindful Movement account on CZcams. Then after a few weeks I shifted to just meditation on my own which is about 12 minutes of just sitting and focusing on my breath. My mind will be racing and I will have thoughts come up but just do your best to bring your focus back to your breath. It’s not easy but definitely helpful. I noticed I was most anxious when not doing anything to keep my mind occupied and when I would meditate before these moments of no activity I would feel much more at peace. Hope this helps!

Regarding anxiety. It can be truly debilitating. My advice: seek CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) with a councillor, but also go to the doctor and get tablets for longer term use (such as citalopram etc), and to break the nasty anxiety circle of never feeling like it’ll end, and to give your mind and body the rest it needs, a more effective and immediate help in the form of something like diazepam, until the other longer term tablets start to work. This will help give you your confidence back and allow you to see the light beyond the control of anxiety-ridden days.
Reading self-help advice only goes so far, and sometimes you can be so deep into anxiety that only medication will help pull you out of it. Don’t carry on letting it rule your life. I lived like that for probably 7 years until I had a nervous breakdown. I got help and very very rarely have an anxious day now, and even when I do it’s so mild that I can control it without an issue.
Oh, finally, and importantly, avoid altogether any coffee or caffeinated drinks (coke etc & energy drinks), until you are back on the right track. They will set you back and make anxiety so much worse.

The first step is admitting that you have anxiety. That’s a major step. Next, try keep what ever anxiety you have for that day, don’t take it in the following day. Everyday you wake up is a new day, with a new you!!

    I have anxiety
and what I do Is first establish what is grounding to you , like what keeps you grounded
Second control you breathe so you heart rate won't spike as much
And last think slow through whatever is troubling you and don't try overdo anything that you can't make sense of
If you can't compute it than dispute it

Also I would say after you have an attack try to realize your triggers so you can avoid them in the future
It won't 100% but it can decrease the amount of attacks or breakdowns

I suffer from anxiety . I speak with my therapist about it constantly . And she brings me to a point of trying CBT ( cognitive behavioral therapy ) . It’s a constant process of unlearning and relearning . But it’s a good way to think in regards to weighing things out on a logical standpoint . As in think of it as a does this or does this not make sense . If you in a bad mental space , think about how you got there and if it makes sense to be there . Can you take a step out of your situation and evaluate it and digest it properly to step out of it . And in future situations how can you assess this so it doesn’t happen again . It’s helped me a lot and given me a lot of insight not only about myself , but others as well .

On your question, understanding those things that trigger your anxious episodes is critical. Journal those, better understand what situations cause that level of anxiety, and work on creating and environment that reduces those stressers. Also been struggling with anxiety and depression for over 35 years.
