Very nice work JC. You are a blessed man to have such a wonder lady working by your side. God bless.
Hey, I need the truck ASAP, don’t paint the frame, (after it’s all put together), hey, is it to late to paint the frame. 😳 Oh, by the way, I’m in such a hurry I don’t want you to replace the tire with a hole blown in the sidewall, I’ll drive it just the way it is and create a possible danger to other drivers on the road! Geez, what a DA! J.C. , thank you for keeping people’s safety in mind and changing this tire, you always do the right thing! 👍😀
This is one of my most favorite channels. Keep up the good work mr&mrs smith
One thing about it you always put a lot of thought into what the game plan is all about . Always moving forward no back tracking . Spend good money on quality tools to get good results. Lucky to have a good wife to work with you. I am fortunate to have a wife to help when needed sometimes an extra set of eyes and hands are needed . Wish you two all the best. Tom
i have a long list of trucks to fix....cant waste time back tracking for sure. we work pretty good together.
Thanks for caring enough to change the tire. I was behind one that came off the rim .pretty scary thing
The old story pole. Love it. It’s so perfect because no matter what you’re duplicating the holes that you know already worked. I called it a witness rod when I explained it to someone. Ha
that pole takes all the human error out of the equation. we all know i need all the help i can get.
Very nice job JC keep up the amazing work take care and stay safe and stay blessed see you in the next one
Nicely done JC 👍
Jc is awesome . Thank's for sharing your knowledge
Awesome I love to see the longer video's I hope you all are staying well!!!
Nice job, thumbs up 👍 to hard work and making this videos ,love them.
Good job JC you make it look easy.
Safety first that's what l like about your vids !! Agree better painted before delivery !! Keep up the quality work. Thanks for sharing 🇬🇧
Love the way you approach everything, im trying to involve your outlook on quailty in my projects, and its working for me.
Nice work looks great 👍
Awesome video, Thanks JC
That Milwaukee drill is pretty impressive 💪🏼
it works very well mike.
Nice job on that frame job. I like the way you doubled the frame and tripled the frame behind the cab. Good job on the custom cross member too!!
Excellent method of measuring and marking the new bolt holes.
This is a very fascinating series of videos.
Thank you
Nice job J C👍👍
As usual nice job , the 3/4 conduit with the bolt welded in it is a great idea . I learn something new in almost every video. god bless you and your family.
Outstanding…….
Nice job J.C.
Good job on that truck keep the good work
nice work J.C.
Nice video JC!
Glad you're done with that project and on to the next. Excellent explanation of how you do the layout for drilling and top-notch narration thru the whole video. Work safe, talk soon.
Doug@ the "ranch"
more work to follow.............................................
You made a big campus lol, well done job!
Really like your voice over
The frame I was wondering what you were going to do about the rust jacking then you said paint and grease.
Seems like a lot of work , good to see you save another one back practical use
Thanks for putting on that tire. Looked like a good enough Match
Looks great I watch your video I’m saving my money to buy one from you I like to turning is a dump truck I’m going to send it it my country I like your work thank you 🙏 God bless
Good video like always
Low mileage on that unit, the guy should’ve let you finish it your way probably would have been a lot happier. Oh well live and learn. Take care Mr and Mrs JC stay healthy!!
Love this video👍👍
I used a Dewalt Mag drill years ago on MOXY Off Road truck frames and it made it so much easier and like you said, drill once..😁
huge time saver. having the mag drill makes a job like this more tolerable.
It got three new batteries! Good thing you tripled the frame he's gonna need the weight! Lol . It turned into a very nice truck glad you saved it!
at least it is usable now. i dont ever want to sell a truck that isnt finished again....i look at that frame and cringe. it could have been painted up and looked so nice. it would have taken me another day and a half to disassemble clean and repaint it. i think it would have been well worth it.
Nice job
Weather like that is a day in the life in Texas. Around here if don't like the weather give it a minute, it'll change.
Man, what a shit-ton of work. Nice job there sir.
i have just under 40 hours in this up to the end of the video.
Wow he moves fast for an old guy 😂
At least they our some one that dose things right
I had a corded ones the same as yours when i built Skillet frames for the big 3, the one thing you need the good cutting oil for them,
Skillet frames are what Carrie's the new trucks or car's and the workers down the Assembly line
That really came out nice! What do you do for alignment on the rear axle? Or does it even matter on a single axle truck?
it is as accurate as it was before we started.
One other thing I would like to say here. I put the lip of the outer frame under the the stock frame. It's a lot stronger that way. The bottom of the frame is were the pressure is. But everybody has their own way of doing things
Some call it overkill,i call it piece of mind
Man you are a beast!!!
a beast?
J.C. SMITH PROJECTS the amount of stuff you get done and how nice it is. Amazing.
nah....just some guy messing with trucks. i am working on a series right now that you might find particular interesting......goes back to one of the phone calls we had and what you wanted to do.
J.C. SMITH PROJECTS I won’t miss it. I don’t miss much of what you post anyway 😆.
If you don’t have a grade all you can use a block of wood 6x6 on the inside tire as a jack
Love the content, I don’t usually comment but this one was worth the time to watch and thank you for making it. I just can’t figure out who T F the 5 people who gave a thumbs down could be? Just amazing that there are people living among us that can’t recognize the value in this type of instruction? Meh F ‘em.
Keep it coming, awesome work!
thanks. when i publish a video, withing the first 20 views i usually get 3 thumbs down.....now those are some dedicated haters! you can never explain why or what they are thinking. miserable people do miserable things. you have to make the videos for the people who enjoy and appreciate your efforts....like yourself. thanks for watching.
It took me a long time to find the answer to this phenomena. CZcams algorithms will send viewers links saying "recommended for you". If you follow those suggestions and discover that it is not the type of channel you want to watch, you can give it a 'thumbs down' dislike - and YT will STOP sending any more of that TYPE of recommendations to you again. So, it is not personal, just someone telling the web site that is not a "genre" of videos that they are interested in.
Just a suggestion, we used to drill and tap chassis rails for grease nipples so could keep greasing between them to keep salt out on salt trucks on service day, maybe it work for him
A lot a oilfeid mag drills in pawn shops in okla but there used is what it is
Would a laser level help in locating the horizontal center marks for the new holes ?
Another 100hr job completed! I worked at a fab shop for a period of time and one week my job was to lay out and drill holes in 4x6 x 1/2" angle iron 6" apart 30' joints. I could usually get 400-600 holes in 1/2" mild steel before the annular cutter broke. I think I drilled over 2000 holes that week. those truck frames are a bit tougher though, I drilled one with a hand drill and cobalt bits for a wet kit took several hrs.
i have just under 40 hours in this. it sure felt like 100. this mag drill and annular cutters make all th difference....before i would dread the thought of drilling all those holes...couldnt imagine drilling through 3 frames. 2000 holes in one week? thats crazy.
@@j.c.smithprojects yeah it wasn't the best job to have lol
Hey J.C
What would you think about torch cutting those holes out with an acetylene rig?
Pakistani Truck Channel rivets framed together all the time - give them a look.
Can’t wait to see the rat rod
im glad you added the inner frame rail as well. but probably not for the reason others might think...lol the top flange is under a compressive force and the bottom flange is under tension the closer to the center of the web of the frame the force becomes neutral so with only the outer one the way you had it it was only reinforcing half the equation. would have been fine but its better now. plus when you shorten the frame you are also actually reducing the total load so i wouldn't have had a issue with it but think it was time well spent.
i called to get a liner made and the one shop was 4 weeks out and the other was only doing work for their production customers. i felt the same way. the outer frame was a nice addition but without the lower flange reinforced it wasnt nearly as strong. the buyer thinks he is going to use this as his daily drive to and from work.....33,000 lbs spring ride suspension with only 11' behind the cab. we will see how long that lasts.
@@j.c.smithprojects lol i would bet he will be re thinking that very quickly
It may be overkill on the frame but I like things overbuilt! That frame should be plenty strong. I especially like the piece you made to fit where the frame is welded to reinforce the welds.
thought it was better in the frame than in the scrap pile.
How do people find out about your trucks for sale as far as advertisment?
Would like to see your inventory. Love ur videos long time fan of you and ur wife
The market idea might be simple and crude but if it works that's all that matters. Sometimes the simpler the better.
Got a question for you. I subscribed to this because the work is great and was also wondering. When you add a second rail how far towards the cab do you go? Also, when you’re putting your hangers back on and springs it doesn’t affect or make it a problem to set the truck back on the rear axle where you still managed to bolt the rear end back up without a problem? Got an old B model and wanna add a second rail and possibly work it and start somewhere and this video is great to see the progress. If you can get back to me that be great.
i go all the way to the rear leaf spring hanger on the front axle. there is usually enough give in the hangers to accept an appropriately sized second frame.
I alway put my cross members in where I weld the frame. The cross member always has 6 or 8 bolts in each side. Lets say I used the 6 bolts member. I center the member as the weld is center of the bracket. As so the 3 bolts are on one side of the weld and 3 on the other side of the weld. That way the frame can not flex where the weld is. I do like to use a lot of cross menbers. It make a strong frame. But no so many as to take the flex out of the frame The frame has to flex some. The way I do it, the weld can never flex. That way the weld will never crack. I have watched you work and I have to say you do a good job. Some times I think you over do it. I hate to add frame in the middle of a frame. I don't like it and it a lot more work. I cut and add frame to the rear of the truck. I started duel framing with big bolts and later on went to small bolts. But you have to use more bolts But that way you have a better frame and still strong. I"m 73 and have cut hundreds of trucks over my life time. I still learn a thing or two even today. Like I said your work is really good. Keep it up. Thanks for the video
Is the truck frame High tensile steel?
So did the guy buy the truck after you told him it was to late to paint it. I got lost at the end. Cool video 👍👍👍
it was bought before it was done. he wanted it as cheap and fast as possible. he didnt want to wait the day and a half it would have taken to strip it down, clean it up and paint it.
HI, overall what was your cost to do this project? I am looking at attempting this on a 2007 Hino?
Axle move with pantograph
I thought the pole thing was genius
Love the videos. Random ass question.. do you have any stickers of your logo or anything for sale. I collect them from youtubers that i follow, just wondering. take care!
no. i dont have that stuff. i thought about it a couple times but the cost was out of line and i have no interest in having viewers overpay for anything.
Will you be doing any more pick up truck? 4WD conversions?
never know. i might be doing one right now that you guys are not seeing..............
Random question, is it posible to strip a semi or school bus down to the frame and put a truck body on it. I know it would be custom bracket and axle moving but in general would it work
anything is possible given you have the money, tools and ability.
@@j.c.smithprojects thank you!!
Well you tried to tell him "let me paint it" but he wasn't having any of it and then to come back and ask you to paint it? You could have told him ok but if I have to slide my schedule it will cost you. Good call on that tire. It could have came back on you if anything happened. Have you thought of making your layout tool slide adjustable? And one last question and that is do you ever get tired?
i dont think i would like it to slide. it could come loose.....i mark the measurement on the conduit from each truck i move the axle on. surprisingly i have used the same hole many times. im not as young as i once was. i dont get as much done as i use to and get tired sooner. however, i have a list longer than my leg of trucks to fix so i have to just keep at it.
With all these changes to the truck frames how is DMV?
truck started life as an incomplete vehicle. repurposing "vocational" trucks is a common procedure.
@@j.c.smithprojects thought truck inspections would critic frame welds, or modifications.
i look at it like this ....it was modified and welded on before i got it.
One thing was quite confusing. The buyer was in such a rush that he asked you to skip most of the finishing work - then he came back and asked if you could paint the frame, at which time you said it was too late! What happened that caused that change? Is this someone you know? 🙄
no idea. this is why i dont sell trucks until i am done with them. the average buyer is not decisive . it leads to issues exactly like this.
Hey J.C. I'm one of your biggest fans. I have some questions about a CAT 3126. I hit the key forward and it doesn't start. If I push started, its a 6 speed it fires right up. It's a GMC C6500 truck. Can you help me out? THANK YOU My name is Rey!
start with a test light and see if you are getting power to the starter on the battery terminal and the starter solenoid terminal.
J.C. thank you for your help. I checked all my fuses and I noticed that 2 were gone. I was going crazy thinking that it was something else. I just couldn't think that there could of been a problem with my CAT 3126. Once again THANK YOU SO MUCH. One of your biggest fans here in Tampa, Florida!!!!
How much to do this to my beverage truck?
i dont do work for others. i only do my own trucks or vehicles for folks who need help. i have a video coming out showing exactly why i dont work on other peoples' trucks.
@@j.c.smithprojects I need to turn it into a box truck in order to sell it. I have a 2015 International 4300. I only want $10k for it. Let me know if you are interested. 62K Mi.
Thing has to ride rough no air seat or air ride
it has an air seat. i wanted to put an air ride suspension under it but it got sold before it was done and the buyer wanted to make it as cheap as possible.
