Using the cut-off wheel as a cutting template is pretty clever. I like the truck frame rear bed pan. Seems very appropriate for what that bed is. Your lovely assistant holds the straight edge down in style. Nice build.
i think the truck frame tail pan was "fitting" for this caliber of bed. this build would have been done long ago if i wasnt my worst enemy.....cant just leave things alone.
you can either have all the neat gadgets to do everything with precision or you can do the best with what you got.....i am not a rich man so i have to make do.
I built a circle cutter for my hypertherm. I welded a rod to a flat washer that fits over the cutting head. The rod slides through a pin that adjusts the diameter. Will cut from 2” up to 24” for marker lights a flat washer tacked on works good
i have done the washer thing before. when i can, i like the template to be bigger than the hole i need so i am cutting inside it and less likely to go off and make a mess.
HAHA!! I had to stop the video when you realized what she did..Mrs. J.C. Smith is a comedic genius!! I laughed and laughed...thank you for leaving that part in. I’ll be laughing about it for days.
To see the look on your face when the bed measured wrong lol that was funny . I bought a holesaw for the 4 inch tail lights..anything over 16 guage steel is a workout..but a nice clean cut . That bed looks good on the truck..nice job
WOW, You and Mrs. JC have really picked up the pace on this job! Great video, voiceover, and edits. Well done, 5 stars buddy. Hope you're enjoying your downtime for the weekend, talk soon! Doug@ the "ranch"
Probably a little easier and quicker to sell a 11’ bed than a 22’. Frame looked like a southern truck frame. Hope you and Mrs Smith are doing well! Take care and stay healthy!!
Cut a Few flats down in my time,. Check out ebay for the wheels for your seat . My snap on creeper dumped a wheel a couple month ago got 6 for the creeper for 19 bucks works great.
Go buy your wheels at Harbor Freight I bought some for my mig welding cart that went bad there and got better ones then the cart came with and was cheap they have all kinds of sizes and designs
Not often you'd need a 22' flatbed, but two 11' flatbeds? There's always a use for those. My black f350 has an 8' x 11' and the white f450 is the same but 4" longer. C channel would also work for the end of the bed but obviously you have more truck frame than c channel. A great way to get two very useful flatbeds from one 👍
Looks like the Mrs. like to keep you on your toes every once in a while you all stay safe out there. Tom
Your wife got you good ! Lol 😂 mine likes to do the same things to me!!
she does this to me often.....she likes to see me upset i guess.
Someone's feeling the isolation....messing with you lol. That made the whole video.

Gotcha good. Way to go, Mrs JC. Keep him on his toes.
Good job Lady messing with JC head that was great. LOL Bed is looking good sir . Never thought about a grinding wheel for a template
totally adjustable template......
Your wife sure got you good, that was so funny . Awesome video thanks JC
Good tip on the cut off disks for tail lights! Don't want to weld on a extra foot! Lol
the discs are totally adjustable just by cutting more steel! lucky me, i needed to cut more! she got me!
Really appreciate your videos. Making two beds out of that is very resourceful.
nothing goes to waste around here!
It's good to have a little humor in the shop at times....especially if you're not expecting it!
she likes it when i am struggling i think.
slick tech tip with the grinding disc!

To see the look on your face when the bed measured wrong lol that was funny . I bought a holesaw for the 4 inch tail lights..anything over 16 guage steel is a workout..but a nice clean cut . That bed looks good on the truck..nice job
that tail pan is 3/16" thick. i have a 4" hole saw but i thought the plasma would work ok. it turned out ok.
Man that is a pretty great combination for someone that doesn’t need something that’s super heavy duty.
gonna be a rough riding truck for sure!
I love seeing you work so fast
Take care and stay safe and stay blessed see you in the next one great job JC and mrs JC

Doug@ the "ranch"
bed is done and so are the brackets to mount it to the truck. waiting on parts now.
Man that lil short bed looks cool as shit!!!!
Add a set of mud flaps some light wiring and the beverage truck will be a memory.
if that were all that it would take i would be so happy. there is a small list of things yet to do.
Probably a little easier and quicker to sell a 11’ bed than a 22’. Frame looked like a southern truck frame. Hope you and Mrs Smith are doing well! Take care and stay healthy!!
well, the one 11' bed is sold. the other half is laying off to the side for who knows what!
She gotcha good !!!.
of course it is going on the beer truck! LOL
A computer chair with the back off works great as a workshop roller chair.
That front section is going to look good on your truck with the air ride
it isnt going on that truck. the truck needs 12' long bed.
You got to have some kind of fun sometime
Cut a Few flats down in my time,. Check out ebay for the wheels for your seat . My snap on creeper dumped a wheel a couple month ago got 6 for the creeper for 19 bucks works great.
lol at mrs smith messing with you. good idea on the on the grinder disk templates.
she was so proud of herself that she got me...as you saw, i knew what she was doing. as long as she had fun that is all that matters.
How come when I play a trick like this on my wife it’s not funny
Can you do a video on the proper way to wire all those lights together like on the back?
JC YOU CAN GET YOUR CREEPER WHEELS FROM GRAINGER HAVE YOU TIRED COMPOSITE DECKING BOARDS FOR BETWEEN FRAME AND BED JUST A THOUGHT KEEP UP THE VIDEOS
Nice JC. Will you be painting the orange bed or selling as is? Cool to see a blacked out International
truck was sold with the bed as you saw it.
Nice to have a lady that works with you
she does all the work....she just lets me look like i am doing something.
Do you put wood back in between the bed and the frame when you put one together?
i will not put wood between the bed and frame on this truck.
Go buy your wheels at Harbor Freight I bought some for my mig welding cart that went bad there and got better ones then the cart came with and was cheap they have all kinds of sizes and designs

i have owned a few.
Your wife and mine have the same twisted sense of humor...

Just speaking for me, 40 minute videos are just too long. I like these. 15-25 maybe 30. Just saying.
