- I GET THE HITCH PLATE FOR THE BEVERAGE TRUCK AND GET IT WELDED IN PLACE. CUT A HOLE FOR A 2" RECEIVER, D RINGS, MADE BRACKETS FOR THE FLATBED AND WIRED UP THE LIGHTS. THAT EVOLUTION SAW WAS A HUGE TIME SAVER ON THIS PART OF THE PROJECT! I DONT USUALLY DO REVIEWS BUT THIS IS A TOOL THAT IS WORTH SHARING! I HAD BEEN LOOKING AT THESE FOR SOME TIME. IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY IN MY OPINION!

I have used the crimp connectors you were showing, first time in 1970 they were really designed for hooking up fluorescent fixtures that were joined end to end meaning they were in a weather proof enclosure. I cannot tell you how many times I have had a problem with them in that environment no matter how careful you are with them, often the contractor I was working for demanded we use them because of the speed. They were never meant to be used under a truck bed, outside in the weather and there is not any good reason for anyone to use them. If you look at one, the amount of contact with the wire is minimal at best and you did the guy you sold it to the biggest favor ever getting them off.
I've fabricated a lot of "one offs" over the years, using reused materials. Nothing wrong with except having to clean it up and fill holes!. Great work JC
I want it to use it for what I need it for not because it's free. I want it to work
Yes ! I would love to see the wiring video. Nope I’m not bored at all! In fact there’s so much going on in this one i listened once and watched it twice.
wiring takes me a long time. it can get boring.
As many of those hitch plates as you do you should make a thin plywood template with your hole layout for everything
I love watching professionals work
let me know where you found professionals so i can watch too!
That was definitely a great frame job on that beverage truck that you repurposed into a flat bed truck. That cold saw is definitely a great addition to your shop. As always you do a great job on all the trucks you do.
thanks kevin. sure appreciate you watching!
JC I gotta tell ya. You are one heck of a fabricator. Part of the reason your stuff is so interesting to watch is because you do not cut a single corner when it comes to fabrication. There’s something to be said for sometimes doing things a little more economically if the situation calls for that but when it comes to fabrication if you want something to last and to be safe you got it down buddy.
if it is worth doing, its worth giving it your best. there are lots people who are true professionals and do it much better than me for sure. i dont ever want to be ashamed of my work.
Very nice quality welding your son can lay a beat down love watching your Channel because you do very nice quality work
thanks greg. he does very well.
Yet again quality and safety. First class . Stay safe and thanks for sharing 🇬🇧
Top-notch work as always.
Now I want one of those saws.
Turned out really nice!
Those are great saws. My old job has one. Built a lot of stuff with it.
Great saw! I’m sure you will like this. Very quick.
Wow am impressed with that saw
Nice that you fixed the wiring. I would like to see a full video on that.
Looks great and you did a good review for that saw,
That truck was quite a build
Appreciate and impressed at how you repurpose so much stuff without compromising the integrity of the build. Very creative and well thought out.
Thanks 👍
Very nice job 👍, get rid of the headache
Great job! I really enjoyed this video, that truck turned out nice.
Looks good JC
I have the Dewalt cold saw. 14" just like your Evolution. Absolutely love these saws for quick, precise cuts. No blade deflection so you can literally shave off paper thin slices if needed. Also very little heat buildup so you can literally grab a piece you just cut with bare fingers and not burn yourself unlike most any other cutting method. I also have the Milwaukee metal cutting circular saw (corded version) for cutting big sheets of metal. It looks like a circular saw on steroids but man is it handy. I've ripped 4x8 sheets of 1/2" plate into 2' strips with no effort at all. Good job JC....keep up the good work and the great videos!
I may look into that circular saw. i dont do a bunch of rips like that but one or two times would make it worth it.
I really enjoy when you upload a video because you throughly explain what you're doing and why. That saw looks to be pretty good addition to the shop.. It should save you time with very little grinding and time is money.
thanks bobby. i love this saw. i dread grabbing a cutting wheel and trying to cut 1/2" plate....it takes forever. this is fast and accurate. well worth the purchase for me!
Great review! Need me one of those saws.
So jealous of that saw! I'm thinking I may end up building a cold saw like that of my own since I don't think Evolution is going to send me one lol! I hear ya on replacing wiring! Sometimes it's easier to just start over! Awesome job! Looks excellent! Thanks for sharing!
Looks good 👍
nice little truck
Like the saw, looks like it would work nicely for shortening a driveshaft too. Hope your family is doing well, stay healthy and take care!!
we are good my friend. hope you all are as well.
Obviously the carbide slow RPM blade does a very nice cut and fast as well. But since most people that bought the typical grinding type metal cut saw, I will just use what I got. Yes, I would love to have a new Evolution metal saw, but since I don't use it everyday and not in any hurry to cut metal when I do use mine, I keep what I got. Plus the cost is way higher then a grinding type metal cut saw... Thumbs Up!
i do enough cutting that it is worth the investment to me. i was going to buy this saw just before they offered to send me one.....you may want to watch for another video i have coming out on this saw......might be some info you want to hear.
Would have been nice to see the frame rails and flatbed sandblasted and painted when it was apart , very nice work on the hitch plate !
JC nice job Thanks for sharing!
thanks for watching bob. cant wait for this virus to be cleared up so i can head out to our favorite restaurants out in your neck of the woods!
J.C. SMITH PROJECTS I hear ya! Lol I am going nuts 🥜!!
I noticed that the break on the saw isn't like some where its roaring to stop the blade really quick so it looks like a good quality saw and I trust your review quicker than some other youtubers who only use the product one time..... reviews are done over time and used in real world so thanks for being true to yourself and too the company you do review.......
companies want to send me their products often. this is the first and only thing i am willing to say that i think it warrants a place in my shop. i have more info coming out on this saw. you might be interested in what i have to share.
Hey JC, those welds are still hot lol, that's a great job well done!
happy it is out of the shop.....next!
I love my cold cut saw, if you have a sharpening service near you can save you money on blades.
Impressive saw! It sure seems to cut fast and does a nice job. Having something like that would have been nice when I made my hitch plate. I ended up using angle iron for a straight edge with my cutting torch. Turned out good after I grinded it down some.
i have done it that way for years until i bought the plasma. nothing wrong with using what you have.
Nice saw
very nice 👍 i really need to ditch my abrasive chop saw and get a cold cut.
i am using it to cut 1" thick plate steel right now. sure makes making brackets easier!
I've been eyeing one of those evolutions
im very pleased with it.
Great video of a great job, completed!
That Evolution saw kicks butt, very cool addition to your shop. It'll have no paint left on it in no time with all the fab work you have to do going forward. Stellar wiring choice to delete all the previous BS wiring.
Stay Safe, talk soon.
Doug@ the "ranch"
great saw. impressive cutting and accuracy. so happy to have it in my shop......for now! it may not be here long.....wonder what i am planning??
Looks good
Looks really good nice job you put a lot of time too make thing Wright
I use hole saws in a drill press quite a bit. Most times I use a blower nozzle on the air hose. Air cools the blade and removes the chips. I have thought about the carbide saws in the past but have stayed away because I am afraid less skilled users will wreck the blades
definitely a reality. you have to use it right or you will knock off the teeth.
I bought a home depot disc saw 14 1/2 size, but I need that saw for better cuts .
Good job as always i bet you get alot of repeat customers.
JC, Andrew Camerata has a hand held version of a carbide saw hes using for his Castle project. Those saw have no conscience. Whatever you put it against, it will cut.
Would work great for cutting down a frame verses a plasma cutter.
Have a 4.5" one for angle grinder ...... Austsaw Rotary Hacksaw goes through alloy and steel real good
i would like to get one of those. i saw andrew use it on his roof project.
Glad you like the evolution saw told you you would. For cutting light holes oval or round look up plasma stencil on eBay it has the hyperthern offset in it I got them a love them it works a little better that your grinding wheel template but hey we do what we have to do good luck JC you are the best mechanic on CZcams stay safe
i really do like it. i will have to look into that stencil. i do cut quite a bit of round holes.
Thanks for mentioning the stencils!
@@haroldphipps3457 No problem most people don't know about them but they work great I got the round and square sets glad I could help
I worked on a mod project on railcars where we had to drill through 3/16" stainless steel with a 2" hole saw, overhead, in a cabinet where the only way to reach it was with a 1/2" right angle drill, pushing straight up through the plate, with the hot stainless steel dropping down your arm. We had to do the same mod on almost two hundred cars. We burned up so many hole saws, I couldn't even begin to guess. But it was the only tool that would get the job done.
annular cutter wouldnt do it?
This was in 1994ish. Nobody where I work had ever heard of an annular cutter. And a mag drill wouldn't have fit into the cabinet. And the budget department would've never allowed it anyway. Hole saws and burn cream are cheap...mag drills and annular cutters are expensive. 😂
You can build a rolling work bench for that saw.
JC- You're gonna miss that beverage truck like a head cold.
i already replaced it with a new headache.
Scotch locks here in Australia we call them Jesus clips as he is the only one that knows when they will work
that it the truth right there!
What brand of holesaw do you use , thats some thick metal and looked nice still
That was just a normal lennox hole saw. i use "used engine oil" for cooling and lubrication.
Man I like that saw! Been looking at em. Going to have to get one. I am still using the old school chop saw for stuff like that. You going to put a goose neck hitch in it?
no. truck is gone,
I forgot to mention, mine is the Slugger by Fein. Well worth the money in my book.
I noticed that there are no red rear side marker lights on the deck. I believe they’re DOT spec. Good job though. I enjoy watching. Sort of thing I used to do when younger.
he is adding those. he has 3/4" led lights he wants to use.
These are made in China made in prc I bought one based on JC recommending it hope it works out
have you tried the Evolution Annular cutters for your Mag Drill? i haven't but i was just wondering.. I've heard a lot of good things about their saws but haven't heard anything about their cutters. great video!
i have not but i would be happy to try them. would be nice to compare them against the ones i am i have been using. i will try and remember to look into them.
Those look like 10,000 pound safety Jack's
What's your opinion on a 1992 International single axle dump with a 7.3 diesel V8 165,000kms
that is an idi engine. good reliable engine. low power. no turbo. slow. you have to be careful about heat. great for occasional use. i would not suggest it for lots of highway or mountain use. not ideal for towing a trailer with equipment with or without material in the bed.
@@j.c.smithprojects Thank you for your advice.
Did you get new wheels on your roller seat it looks like it is dragging a little
no i didnt. they are available but i have not taken the time to order them.
Bought the Makita 12” carbide, she’s bad!
I don't either 😅
Hey JC, there's something weird going on with your uploads, the one you put up after this one is blank like some others of recent times. Want to watch them but can't open them.😳
How about a band saw J C
Those saws are disgusting. Love them
I bought one after seeing chucky2009 years ago I wouldn't go back unless I have to my favorite way to cut steel saves so much time
so fast and clean with almost no heat,
That's a nice saw its worth $ 3.39.00
They seem to be out of stock or discontinued at almost every online store
you can buy it right from their website.
the only place a scotch lock belongs is in the garbage can
agreed. who ever thought that a connector that damage the wire when it is installed was a good idea....and of course the obvious corrosion because of it being open to the elements.....
Scotch locks should never have been sold I have them things. I just rewired our log trailer because of them darn things I cut 28 of the scotch locks out of the wiring loom
i just read in the comment where a viewer calls them "jesus clips" because only jesus knows when they will work!
