  • Today I wanted to talk about a fun little adventure game that picked me up, placed my in my childhood for 10 to 15 hours and has managed to stay on my mind ever since.
Terrible voice overs will continue until morale improves (or I learn how to stop hitting the mic)

Hey there, been a while. No, I haven't been doing this only thing for four months, just busy with IRL stuff. We should be back to a more regular schedule now.

That thing about being able to "smell" the environment at times is quite strange. I had that impression several times while playing this game and that never happened before in like 20 years of playing video games. I bet it has something to do with childhood memories/nostalgia. But yeah, good review, one of the most interesting games in recent years.

You can see this game is made with passion. I love the aesthetic, I’ll try it out, thanks for the discovery Potpotron!!

I first heard of this game from an ironpineapple video and I eventually tried it and it has really stuck with me since. The slingshot in particular is a really enjoyable weapon,
The world, characters, weapons, and music are all so good even if I could never put to words exactly what makes them so enjoyable.

Good to see devs experiment and push ideas like this. Will check out Northern Journey sometime down the line hopefully (during the day of course - I am REALLY not good with spooky games). great review bud, glad to have you back.

This game is a real hidden gem

14:32 I can relate. The dev also changed the dialogue of the wolfman so you wouldn't try to skip that part and end up stuck on the other side in front of the gate like I did the first time.

Great review. Have it on my wishlists now, even though the NOPE parts are probably going to impact me quite a bit 😅 hopefully the dev will bring out some more games like this, but tackle other locations around the world.

Northern Journey was really cool, one thing i didn't like is that it started a bit more open, it felt more exploratory, while rest of the game is not just very liniar, but at the start of every area the magic flute dude will explain to you exactly what will happen next, wich kinda dispell the mystery
But it still was very cool, the defenition of hidden gem. It's one those games that feels "off the grid", if that makes sense, like it's made without looking at what's around it in the medium that much, made on pure vision but not in a pretentious sense. I remember having similar feeling in Wuppo or Fear & Hunger, maybe Hylics 1/2 or Hedon even. I always seek games that no matter the genre i can call "an adventure", and Northern Journey is surely one of them.

Nope sim and all, this game looks amazing in every way and something I had to pick up. Probably gonna end up buying some gift copies for buddies too, just to spread this around a bit, I want to experience that world.

This game is beautiful, and the music is super cool. As a solo gamedev it’s very inspiring!

Had this one in my wishlist for a long time, the style is just up my alley, finally got it and wow its amazing, the atmosphere and music are fantastic, side note, the combat for me was way different because i always held back and lured enemies one at a time so it was slow and calculated for me, not arena combat, except the bosses

I didn't enjoy the combat very much, or at all... but otherwise I loved most other parts of this game! :D
