    I still don't understand why FM doesn't add silicon around the plugs from factory. Seems like such an easy thing to do and have happy customers...

    Random question: does that DeWalt have variable speed control? Any issues with accidentally stripping the screws when using it?

    • @carvecreative
      @carvecreative  Před 2 lety +1

      There’s 2 versions of this drill. I use the cheaper one and it doesn’t have any torque settings. I believe the more expensive version does. I have never had an issue with stripping out screw heads. It’s not very powerful and seems to be perfect for taking these boards apart.

    You think plumbing thread tape would be a good option instead of the silicon on the threads? Might be more well relieved on warranty.

    • @carvecreative
      @carvecreative  Před 2 lety

      No because the leak is around the base of the connectors once you get those nuts off you’ll see.

    So I have a question, after watching the video, I definitely want to water proof my GT I just received. Now maybe there is an obvious answer to this but couldn't I just remove the plastic but and place a foam/silicone O-Ring in between the nut and the housing? Let me know your thoughts. Thank you

    • @carvecreative
      @carvecreative  Před 2 lety

      You could try that! It might work but make sure it’s the right size.

    Did you have to run silicon along/between the lid and the housing?

    • @carvecreative
      @carvecreative  Před 2 lety +1

      Not if it isn’t leaking from the leak test. They did a better job this time around. Pint used to leak sometimes on at the cover in one area but I haven’t seen it on the 4 GTs that I’ve checked.

    Does Badgering without opening the unpenning the control boxes void the warranty?

    • @milesonewheelwinter
      @milesonewheelwinter Před rokem

      According to FM yes . That's what the people who make these videos failed to mention anytime you remove any of that stuff off of it and take it apart you just avoided it. End of the story don't believe me try it

  • @Murgoh
    @Murgoh Před 2 lety

    Is the procedure basically the same for a Pint? The design of the controller looks very similar.

    • @carvecreative
      @carvecreative  Před 2 lety

      Essentially it is but I have seen the pint cover gaskets fail multiple times. I also run silicone along the cover gaskets for the pint every badger.

  • @alpinmack
    @alpinmack Před 2 lety +2

    Nice! So disconnecting the motor should be good, but you brick the board if you disconnect the BMS and battery. Right? Just making sure to be clear.

    Also, is dielectric grease ever used on the connectors?

    • @esyndicate
      @esyndicate Před rokem

      I love dielectric grease but I would not use it here as it could cause arching / continuity between pins.
      Dielectric grease is better for a single pole DC application. Hope this helps.

    does this void the warranty?

    • @carvecreative
      @carvecreative  Před 2 lety

      You’re not breaking either of the warranty stickers. FM has now said it’s ok to change the tire. You’re not doing anything more invasive than what a tire change entails. That being said, we cannot guarantee that future motion is ok with doing this. You would have to contact them to be sure.

    • @carvecreative
      @carvecreative  Před 2 lety +2

      You’re technically not breaking those warranty void stickers. They have now said it’s ok to change the tires which would take the board apart up until this point. My advice would be if you have to send the board in under warranty maybe peel the silicone out just to be safe.
