Poor Reggie feels so outdated when he gotta work so hard for his 160ATK, meanwhile Crowned Zacian is set from the get go
Facts man Zacian is basically OP in singles pub battles. They should lower slow start from like 5 turns to 3. The power creep this generation is insane.

@matthewbrown8614 I honestly think regigigas shouldn't have slow start because zacian crown form imo is more op then regigigas even if it didn't have slow start because zacian gets a plus 1 whenever it enters battle plus having a high speed stat and pretty good bulk makes it very op, scarlet and violet did nerf zacian a bit by making it so that intrepid sword only activates once per battle and I'm glad they did that because it makes switching out zacian a lot harder because if it only gets its plus 1 only once per match then you have to really be careful on when you switch zacian in but there honestly isn't many pokemon that just completely counter zacian

I was expecting doubles with regigigas and grafaiai to change the ability, but destroying with regigigas while keeping slow start is great! Another fun duo is Grafaiai and slaking

That damn trainer in Blueberry Academy using Smeargle and Slaking caught me off guard with Doodle
2 Simple Changes:
1- Regigigas' Slow Start counter should save when swapped out, like Annihalape's Rage Fist counter.
2- Slow Start should retain the -50% Attack and Speed Reduction But only at the start, each turn that passes should reduce that reduction by 10% instead it being the full 50% all 5 turns.
The reason it has this ability to begin with isn't just as a nerf for great stats (albeit very dated seeing as Zacian Crowned in its intro generation had higher Attack/Speed, better Typing, AND beneficial Ability), it's also due to its inspiration being a Golem built to protect a city that grew in power with each day that passed. On the 5th day it became so strong it lost its mind and attacked the city it was meant to protect, changing Regigigas' reduction to be reduced each turn instead of all at once after 5 turns would actually be more in line with its inspiration. (This is also why it still had Slow Start in Legends Arceus where there were no Abilities and no online battling)
eh, I think it's bad, because it was introduced as a reward for doing gen 4 stuff in gen 5, and they didn't want it to dominate anything.
They could have made slow start less bad if they actually wanted it to represent a golem building up momentum from a slow start.
In terms of a reason for making it that was (out of lore) its because at the time, in order to get a regigigas, you needed to have all of the regis in the sinnoh games. That doesn't sound like much on the surface, but that requires: solving the regi puzzles (in an era when the answers weren't easily accessible), having both a generation 3 game, and a generation 4 game, as well as having a game boy advance color *and* a DS, and you had to trade the regis into the gen 4 sinnoh games.
Because of all the loops you had to jump through to get regigigas, GF made it have a bad ability so that players wouldn't feel bad for not getting it

@@LegacyAN doesn't change the argument it could've been reworked later, especially what's about to be 6 Gens later, which they've done in the past so it's not a incomprehensible idea.
Like I said they could maintain the massive nerf for lore reason perfectly fine if they wanted, but simply have the reduction taper off across those 5 turns instead all at once on the 6th turn. (which would actually be more fitting)
@@-libertyprimev1-902 Oh I absolutely agree, it should be reworked to be more in line with the fact that there are pokemon who get those kind of stats with no restrictions. I was only pointing out why it exists in the first place.
On a related topic, due to the fact that Slow Start is so iconic for Regigigas, I also think that in terms of game design, making a boss battle against Regigigas where the first turn makes note that Regigigas doesn't have slow start wouldn't be unbelievably intimidating and make for an incredible scene
@@LegacyAN the Manga handles that boss type encounter well, an Ability swapping Move is used on Regigigas and it immediately choke slams an enraged Dialga and Palkia at the same time... 💀
I've always really loved Regigigas' concept of a lumbering giant slowly waking up and then wrecking shop... I just wish game freak would find a better way to convey that idea than Slow Start :(
Or maybe make it a little shorter, maybe 3 turns instead of 5? I think that’s reasonable. And make it a form change so it can be swapped out and not have to restart
They could change slow start to add two base stat points every turn for two or three turns to the stats it currently reduces or just one point to each until the turns have passed

Slow Start needs a buff. IMO, reduce it to three turns and give Regi double defense and status immunity during those turns. That way he can actually get going instead of just being setup fodder.
Eh too op I like the idea where the buff decreases by 50 percent and the turns don’t get reset when switching
@@theshadowking3198maybe the debuff could start 75%, then go to 50, then to 25, then to 10, and maybe then 5? Idk I know nothing about balancing lol. Also each turn it would reduce

Regigigas is definitely my favorite legendary, but he's obviously held back by his ability. I like to use him in doubles along Cetitan with sheer force and entrainment. Sheer force Regigigas is crazy fun

If Rage Punch can keep track of how many times it's been used, Slow Start could be retroactive. Being able to swap out and not resetting the counter would give Regigigas so much flexibility

Old strat, but you ever use gastro acid in doubles to erase slow start? I got that from the Pokémon Battle Revolution Battle tips guide
I feel like in the mega/primal phase, he should've gotten a form that ditches the Slow Start ability in favor of one that does the reverse. Doubling his Attack and Speed for 5 turns on entry, before he "Loses his mojo." or something.
you can use cofagrigas to attack regigigas and give him the mummy ability to turn off slow start so you dont have to try and mega brain a way to complete the hurculean task of trying to stall five turns.
in doubles you can run psyduck with him and use simple beam
One of my favorite legendaries and shiny due to the crazy shiny hunt I did for it in SS. I also look at him as the underdog legendary.

I tried lvl 1 huge power azurill with focus sash and icy wind. Next to galar muk who takes the huge power when azu goes down. Give it a choice scarf with tera blast. If only tried it on npcs but it seems to work sometimes
TIL losing to Regigigas is like losing to Exodia. Your opponent makes a point of trying to achieve the most ridiculous win possible using a single incredibly powerful monster that takes a ton of effort to set up.

I'm just amazed you made Regigigas work in singles with slow start and not in doubles with Weezing or skill swap Medicham
New strat now is you can also use Doodle via Grafaiai or Smeargle. Only downside is they also have their ability replaced with whatever you target BUT it can still come in pretty clutch if you Prankster Doodle immediately into something like Intimidate, so then you get the double activation as part of the very first move of the game.

Great video, i think regigigas is cool. Legendaries are way more viable now thanks to how easy it is to EV and hyper train and mints. I like using legendaries cuz a bunch of them are cool and i have this "oooh what'll this be like" factor.
IMO its better to add knock off and no drain punch, knock itself is arguably one of the best moves getting items off and hitting ghost types wich this set struggles not only that rest and lefties are already a good enough opsion for healing
