Turns out the best frog in CEDH is Orcish Bowmanster
you know what, Orcish Bowmaster just proves to be a great card to me because it showed that is still a worthwhile way to win in a competitive format that heavily favors combos.
This was was the episode I have been waiting for my entire life.
Completely forgot Yargle and Multani were a thing, I thought we'd see Orvar in the pod :D
It's a fun deck. I have a more casual version. BUT it usually ends with me drawing my entire deck by repeatedly saccing Yargle. Then either winning with Phycosis Crawler, Altar od Dimentia, or mass life drain.

Hey! Just watched the short involving Dauthi Voidwalker and Grolnok, where you assume Grolnok to be a replacement effect. It is actually a triggered ability because it says "whenever", so since Dauthi is a replacement effect (since it says "if (...) instead" it'll exile the cards before Grolnok gets to trigger

Just a heads up on the short that was just posted. I don't think grolnok is a replacement effect, rather a trigger that happens if a permanent is put into their graveyard, so in the example on the short getting milled with a dauthi would exile them before they even saw the graveyard. Was actually surprised you didn't get punished by the turn 2 gitrog play as usually Jeweled lotus is a bait into setting you back further, but I understand that you were behind lands. Rip. I think the Godless Shrine from Flagstones at 10:00 comes in tapped even if you pay 2.
Also Thalia + Gitrog is not a May trigger so you have to sacrifice every attack.
I dont think this changed the game at all aince T+G was already super ahead.
the shock was just played and the basic planes from flagstones came in later
Note: all nonbasic lands you control do NOT come into play tapped because T+Gm says “nonbasic lands your OPPONENTS control come into play tapped.”

Now we discuss which one is the best. We live in glorious times!
I've been obsessed with Thalia and the Gitrog since it came out and this is such a great showing of how good it can be! I love the cEDH build, I recently made a high power casual legends version that is also super nasty...
I tried to build a cEDH version but it wasn’t fun (I don’t mind stax at the table… but I don’t enjoy playing it myself). Went HP casual with mine as a Gates deck with Kodoma lines as a backup.
@@MTG_Ronin yeah, my legends build is minimally staxxy, more grand abolisher effects than rule of law stuff, disruption of abilities more so than limiting spells. Ya know, drana and linvala and yasharn stax, ya know?

I know that this comment doesn't refer to this video but you posted a Short today about the interaction of Grolnok and Dauthi Voidwalker. While your statement in the short is correct; if two replacement effects apply, the owner chooses, that ruling doesn't apply in the Grolnok/Dauthi case. Grolnoks ability is a triggered ability (you recognize those by the "Whenever") and Dauthi is a replacement (Recognizable by the "if" and the "instead"). As such, Dauthi's ability replaces the putting into the yard, which leads to Grolnok never triggering.

I know it wouldn't have been the RIGHT call, but I'd have loved to see Dylan Vamp Tutor for Giant Growth and just one-shot Pez.
I was expecting (and wanting) that, but I think he didn't because pez wasn't an issue at the time and killing individual players comes at a cost of "if someone else becomes a problem there is one less person that can deal with it". BUT it would've been so funny

Bowmasters is a whole other animal in Tayam too.
With Tayam on field, you get the 3 counters necessary to activate off the Bowmasters and orc alone

Grolnok is not a replacement effect. It’s a trigger to exile it from the yard like necropotence, so dauthi would eat them before Grolnok gets a chance to see any perms in the yard

I would like to see Yargle and Multani with Phyresis on it. Best case scenario you get that going and get to cast Seedtime and take half the table out. That’s just a cream dream though.

So in a recent shorts where it said that grolnuk croak counter effect is a replacement effect, It is not as it has the key word whenever meaning it a trigger ability so before it trigger resolves dauthi replacement effect already exile the cards. (Note: An effect that contains the words when/whenever/at is a trigger ability)

I think proper was to use Dismember on Talia&Gitor to give more "chance" to other players to deal with the board. You knowed that You will not untuap if the Orc Army is still in game.

I'm pretty sure Grolnok is not a replacement effect, since it does not say "instead" anywhere. It's just a triggered ability that exiles the permanent card when it hits the graveyard. So Dauthi would take precedence over the Grolnok, even making sure it would not trigger at all.
This is like the cEDH frog Superbowl!

DO IT! A smidgey of stax, good lines that are harder to interact with, decent interaction for others. Oblivion is a fan (but she also likes Stax, so, grain of salt)
Oblivion never didn't have it. That was resilient and wonderful.

In your new short where there is a grolnok AND a dauthi on the battlefield, you viewed the abilities as replacement effects, but grolnok is a triggered ability, so your conclusion was wrong.
If a card would go to the grave, grolnok would see it enters and then exile it, but dauthi just doesn't allow cards to go to the grave, making the ability of dauthi go over the ability of grolnok and absolutely destroying it!
